Just wondering if I'm the only person on the board that doesn't drink. I'm not ashamed that I don't drink either. In fact, giving up the alcohol was the best thing that happened me.

Drink culture in Ireland: I tell my mates I'm now teetotal and I get sneered at, and I'm only off it a month! Of course there's nothing to be ashamed of, but other people don't see it that way

Suppose it depends on your reasons for giving it up....If your a clean looper when drunk fair enough but I can't see the harm in having a few drinks...As i said already its all your choice!!

There's no harm in having few drinks, no harm in not drinking etc it's the idiots who think that it's not a good night unless their puking in the street and wetting the bed, or who think anyone who doesnt enjoy the same thing is loser, I've an issue with.  Unfortunately Ireland is full of them.

True.  It's all down to insecurity.

Exactly and whenever I go out, people stare at me as if I've 10 heads when I tell them I've quit. Reason why I've quit, I suppose it's all about nearly been knocked down by a car staggering home one night. I had way too much to drink that night...

I've good respect for anyone that doesn't drink. Its not easy in the Ireland we live in where socialising is so centred around alcohol. I like going off the beer for periods but always enjoy a good lash when a crowd of us get together
