In my opinion Cookstown are going to take some stopping. They are hitting form just at the right time although they can consider themselves quite fortunate in making the play offs having only made it on score difference from a Pomeroy team who finished strongly after the appointment of Adrian O'Donnell a few weeks ago.

I predict Dungannon v Cookstown with cookstown returning to senior football.

i wouldnt read too much into cookstown's last 2 results especially our game against them, one of our players got married last saturday and we were down a few key men.  i'd fancy aghyaran to take them especially up there.

think it will be aghyaran v derrylaughan, with derrylaughan then playing dungannon. hard to pick a winner in that one...

I use to think u had good knowledge clarshack!!! Everyone wrote off Kildress but we're still there! #UTT

me too! got my predictions badly wrong this weekend lol, anyway fair play to kildress. should be a good game v cookstown.

I still expect Cookstown to beat Kildress and then Donaghmore.

Its a hobby innit. No obligation to go to football. I too will opt out next year.

Yes I agree no obligation, I'm not disputing that. What I'm getting at is the fact he was only too happy to play all last year when the rock where riding high on an all Ireland junior run, then when they needed him most he decided to step aside. Not a real clubman if your asking me, that's what separates the senior teams from intermediate/junior.

What age is he? kicked football for the Rock all his life and decides its time for him to hang them up and you say he's "not a real clubman".. He got them into Div 2, at what point is his job done according to you? If a man wants to hang them up let him at it, id say he's gave plenty to the Rock by now. Still can't get over that "he's not a real clubman" speak... jesus  ::)

If I'm not mistaken this is not the first time he has called time on his playing days, on his return to intermediate football from a junior all Ireland run.

Its only an opinion but I believe that the quality and quantity of players of a certain standard is what separates Division 1/2/3. For example Greencastle are division 1 because they have many good players. Do you think that the Greencastle team that was in Division 3 had as many good players, but they just weren't committed enough?

That's a fascinating insight. What else might separate teams in sport throughout the world? Alphabetical order? Nice jerseys?
What I believe the poster was saying was that attitude of players is what separates good teams from bad teams is the attitude of their players. I was just saying that it is more to do with the quality of players than the attitude. I would say there are many players in division 3 who are more dedicated than their counterparts in division 1. But thanks for your smartass comment anyway.

I agree the quality and quantity of footballers has a lot to do with how successful a club can be but a good attitude/dedication is equally as important. Forgive me if I'm wrong but I don't believe the Rock can be happy being considered as a yo yo club, much like Cookstown are. Why not push on to be the best you can be. Take Carrickmore for example; they haven't produced the quality of footballer they had say 10-12 years ago but they continue to contest O'Neill cups/league titles every year. I put that down to hard work, attitude and dedication, the same dedication Martin McCreesh has failed to show. I shouldn't pick on one player as the same can be said for numerous clubs in Tyrone.

gaafan2 - for a poster from Greencastle you have a serious interest in division 2!!!

Is it wrong to have an interest in division 2 football, after all we've spend quite a few years down there ourselves and below. I just find division 2 a lot more competive than division 1 at the moment and the relegation battle is fascinating.

As far as I'm concerned the Rock will be playing junior football next year. The league table doesn't lie. I am aware they have suffered a number of injuries to key men but I cant see them staying up, nor do they deserve to do so after handing Gortin the points. Loughmacrory, Gortin or Urney will have no problem in seeing of the winner of Owen Roes/Tattyreagh.

Martin McCreesh opted out this year too. Was a big loss for them.

I don't understand men opting out when the going gets tough. He was only too happy to play in a successful/winning team last year.

Some year for Galbally, reserve championship winners and their senior team league winners. How will their reserve team compete in div 1 next year as their league form was indifferent.

I cannot for the life of me understand how Pomeroy are unable to make the step up to div 1. Reserve league winners this year not to mention maybe 3/4 reserve championships this past few years shows the strength and depth should definitely be there to do so.

Sorry I didn't include the Hill because I was thinking Pomeroy would dispatch of them at home - I could be wrong there though - sure didn't they play some games drunk this year!

an sure didn't Derrytresk put them out of the championship...

As far as I know the Hill aren't training and Pomeroy are, which would lead one to fancy Pomeroy especially at home...been a decent year for the hill though.

Congrats to Trillick BTW..what a fairytale and will give hope to every underdog for next season.

the Hill are training, well they still wer after the eskra game at least, not sure what the story is this past week or so. Don't think they'd fancy getting stuffed by Pomeroy to finish off the year, game could go either way. No team have beat them by any big margin this year at all except when they had a very depleted team in the first game against Derrylaughan

Can see Urney, Eskra and Gortin all picking up wins this weekend, leaving us with Rock v Loughmacrory in the play off to go directly down. Id have to side with Loughmacrory as the Rock seem to be decimated with injuries.

At the other end of the table I can see Cookstown and Pomeroy picking up wins, leaving them both on 17 Points and a share of 6th. As these two teams drew earlier in the league, will they play off against each other to decide who picks up the remaining play off position?
