A good rivalry boiling..

Asked how it felt to be chasing Littler at the top of the table, Van Gerwen replied: "I don't have to chase anyone. He has to chase me still. "I'm about 150 tournaments in front of him, so good luck to him."

Van Gerwen was also asked after the match what he made of Littler's inclusion in Forbes' Under 30 Europe Class of 2024 list after the teenager's headline-grabbing start to life on the professional PDC darts circuit.

"What he did and what he created for the sport of darts I think is phenomenal, but take it easy," said three-time world champion."With all the respect, he played c**p tonight and I beat him with a c**p game that's the reality of the moment.

Quote from: PadraicHenryPearse on April 02, 2024, 10:02:46 AMWell not a great month, up 2kgs, once I let the genie out of the bottle and started to eat some bread, crisps, etc. and then it snowballed.

Exercise wise, I am doing more but not enough.

April is a new month. Need to get the January disciple back (and weight lose).

Still down 10kg overall this year?

Goodman, reset & go again!

Quote from: Points a Good Score on March 28, 2024, 10:01:27 AMA very tough week in Moneyglass with more difficult days to follow.

I've been lucky to know Jack McCoy since he was a very young lad, an absolute giant of a man in a wee body. Bravery, skill and endeavour where his best characteristics on the pitch, but off it is where he really excelled, a quick wit and sharp personality, a friend to old and young alike with the ability to interact and converse with both just the same.

Nothing was ever a problem to Jack, we're light in numbers today Jack can you play corner back, no problem, man marking job today Jack, no problem.

An IFC semi final against St Paul's a few years ago epitomised him most, in a game St Paul's looked like winning all the way through Jack never gave up, he contributed scores, blocks and tackles all night, covering 19kms over the 80 minutes a phenomenal effort.

We'll all miss him terribly both on and off the pitch.

There's no problem in this world that can't be solved, speak out and seek help don't suffer in silence like our dear friend.

Gutting to read, RIP Jack.

Quote from: general_lee on March 27, 2024, 12:11:01 PMSo why is a pint in Belfast £6+?
Is it solely because of some imaginary cabal price gouging (see Beannchor) or is there actually more to it?

Belfast city centre pubs pay 20% VAT, in Dublin it's 13.5% (was 9%). UKGov refuses to reduce VAT for hospitality & tourism.

There is no rates relief in Belfast city centre (or NI) for hospitality businesses that is available elsewhere in the UK. So when the council raise their non-domestic rates, pubs and restaurants here get slaughtered.

Despite handsome profits last year, Diageo have announced their latest price increase - this is the one that makes the news but other breweries and suppliers have also put their prices up in the past 12 months.

Many Belfast city centre pubs employ people on minimum wage. When that goes up next month, they will be paying their bar staff more. They then have to pay supervisors, managers etc more as well. If they hire external contractors such as a cleaning company, that bill will also increase.

Wetherspoons, despite being a messy, under-staffed, McDonald's that serves alcohol and cheap, nasty food, has still increased prices twice in the last 6 months. The industry is fucked.

latest accounts article i could see for Beannchor. £6.3million pre-tax profits for a year.

Yeah nearly £2 on the button.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on March 26, 2024, 02:51:59 PMOut for a meal on Sat afternoon.. bill was £80 a head! Is what it is, had a great time and decent food..Ya only live once!

£80 a head is a blind statement though. I've no problem paying £80 (or more) a head in a place that's worth it. However a pizza restaurant charging £8.50 a pint in Belfast is absolutely taking the piss.
