General discussion / Sweden get a 3-0 Win
June 08, 2007, 01:25:37 PM
uefa in their wisdom announced today that they have awardrd sweden a 3-0 win over denmark in their euro 2008 quilifier. hardly a satisfactory outcome from denmark, ni or spains point of view or soccer in general. the ref imo overreacted and could have finished the game, it was in the 89 min and he wasnt actually injured or anything like that. it might encourage other lunatics who want to influence matches in the future.... now wheres my czeck jersey i'm off to prague in sept   ;D

GAA Discussion / TG4 biggest audience ever
May 01, 2007, 03:23:42 PM
i see the nhl final last sunday brought tg4 its biggest audience yet for any programme - 309,000. while its great for tg4 i think the gaa should demand that national league finals be carried on rte1 or 2.

Hope someone in gaa hq is bidding on these, they go on sale at the tara towers hotel, merrion rd, next tuesday. the bloody sunday match ticket must be fairly unique at this stage (E2-3k) while everyone in kerry knows the ai medals (1915-1918) are priceless!!

GAA Discussion / Stadium Planning
December 07, 2006, 01:39:22 PM
i see clones is in line for a 30m upgrade following hot on the heels of westmeath and kildares stadium plans. surely its time for some sort of central stadium planning body in the gaa. what this country needs is one centrally located stadium with a roof that can seat 25,000 and finally weather proof our games. how about the athlone arena, a central enough location where every sunday a double header top league games can be played. giving up all these town center locations for stadiums that will be empty for 99% of the time may be a bad idea in the longterm... what do others think?

the gpa and the afl players association today came out in favour of the ir series. they said that the series has the overwhelming support of both codes players and that the refereeing of the series is an area that needs attention. just looking at the start of the ashes series in cricket it would be an awful shame if the gaa (ie nicky) were to let our own series go down the tube....
