Well Folks, this tonight was just one incredible evenings craic, and what a laugh.
I have written a press release, so have a read.......

There was incredible excitement and tension this evening at the Oaks Centre, Dungannon, where a new  "Human Mattress Domino" world record was set. With 130 the record to beat, 145 people lined all the way from the back of Sainsbury's store, out into the mall, then right down to the main doors, and back up to the front of Home Furnishing Solutions, where 6 FM DJ, Malachi Cush, was last one set to fall.

8 weeks ago when Barry Mc Guinness from HFS decided to make an attempt at breaking the world record, it stood at 80. During this time, the record got broke 3 times. Blue Peter held the record at 100, and then it went to 121, and the most recent one was 130, set 10 days ago. Not deterred by the rising numbers, Barry just kept adding mattresses and got the assistance of Sainsbury's to use their main aisle to start the attempt.

So, on November 12th, World Records Day, 145 people lined up holding a mattress at their back. On the stroke of 7, Barry give the first one a shove, and one by one, the domino effect just gathered speed and momentum,  hurtling down through the chill section, and on past the fruit and veg, narrowly missing the potatoes! Gathering speed,  it raced into the mall, and with flashbulbs going off like fireworks, the human domino's took their first turn when they turned left, and raced towards the exit doors. Coming up to the doors was going to be the trickiest part, as it had to turn 180 degrees!!

Rapidly approaching the doors, over 80 people had successfully dropped, and without a hitch, the turn was negotiated, then,  like a steam train, another 60 people dropped down along the home straight as a new World "Human Mattress Domino" record was set, when Malachi Cush dropped onto a double bed. All in a time of 56 seconds!

The roof nearly lifted of the Oaks Centre as 145 people started crawling out from under mattresses to incredible roars from the hundreds of people who had turned out for the event, realising they had set a new record. The scenes at the finish was like nothing ever witnessed in Dungannon in a long time.

Presenting a grinning Barry Mc Guinness with a certificate confirming the new record, Patricia Mc Gill, from "Guinness World Records", confirmed that they had broken the record, and everyone involved, can rightly claim to be a "World Record Holder".
She praised everyone involved, and as it was "World Records Day", breaking the record had an even sweeter feel, and everyone involved can feel proud of their recording breaking achievement.

Taking part in the record attempt, were members of Dungannon Swifts and Rugby Clubs,  local GAA clubs, Clonoe Boxing Club, the Ren Bu Kan Judo club, as various other sporting individuals also took part.
Sainsbury's staff, together with staff from all the other shops in the Oaks Centre, teamed up with other volunteers from not only Dungannon, but right across Europe.

Keeping time on the night was international boxing coach Frank Gervin, and former world Judo champion, Harry Mc Guigan. Keeping an eye on them were Rev. Foster, and Fr. Mc Anenley, who both backed out at the last minute citing back problems!!

All the Mattresses were sponsored by local business's and individuals, and together with a collection on the night, local charity "Marie Curie", will be benefiting from the new world record set!! Pat O' Kane from Marie Curie reckons he has seen a lot of charity events, however, he has never witnessed anything like this! Pat took part himself, and if his laughter at the end when he crawled out from under a mattress was an indication of how much he enjoyed it, then Pat will be smiling for a few days to come!

A lot of hard work went into this event, and in the space of a minute, not only was a new record set, but 145 people went home holding a certificate confirming they were "World Record Holders". There will be many a story to be told regarding this event for a very long time to come!

Many thanks go out to a lot of people, not least the people who took part, the people who sponsored a mattress or donated, all the staff and business's in the Oaks Centre, and for all those who helped in handling the mattress's.
Special thanks to Sainsbury's for the use of their aisle and for providing refreshments during the evening. Entertainment on the evening was provided by Brian "Disco" Nicholl, and the ever popular Malachi Cush kept the crowd entertained and informed with his duties of MC.

This event couldn't have happened without the mattress's, so to Mark at Honey B, thanks for making this happen.

Folks, if any of you are handy and competent in the design of a web site please send me a PM and
I will get back to you with more details. Please include a phone number and I will chat it over with you..

I need a site set up for our upcomming mission to sail a cargo ship from Ireland to Gaza,
filled with hundreds of tonnes of building and medical equipment.
Already, the Quinn group are behind this project and are supplying the cement.
Noam Chomsky took time out to record a fantastic interview with myself giving us his full support.
Kila are comming along and are to play a concert in Gaza when we arrive.
There are other high profile people who are behind us, and I will reveal all in good time.

There isn't a big budget, however, it will be the most rewarding job you will have ever undertaken,
as this voyage has the potential to be the biggest story in Ireland this christmas.
It will make Band Aid look like amatuers...................................

Well folks, where do I start with Noam Chomsky.......

His lecture on Friday night was absolutley amazing. Without going into much more than
what Massey already said, I have to say that you got the review on his lecture spot on.
His ananlyis on US foriegn policy, and how the British are their lap dogs, was bang on.
On South America, I thought he covered it well, and was full of praise for what they
have achieved democratically. His view that Bush went to sleep for 8 years regarding
South America, left it wide open for democratic elections for the first time in 500 years,
told it's own tale, as Bush was too focused on the Middle East.

I really enjoyed his Q&A with William Crawley. William handled this very well, and he
had to interpret each question, as Noam's hearing isn't the best.
I was lucky enough to ask him a question, and it was regarding my next mission to Gaza.
I have now joined up with the Free Gaza Movement, an international group, which includes
Noam Chomsky as one of our advisers, among others.

He praised the work of the FGM, and went on to say that one of the main reasons why
the Israeli's want to patrol the waters is to steal the Gas off the Gaza coast.
A few years back, British Gas, discovered large gas reserves of the coast of Gaza, a lifeline
that would provide serious cash for the people of Gaza. However, Israel has their eyes
on this prize, and will do all it can to steal it. Has also noted that Tony Blairs hand prints
all over this as well. Bit like his recent work on Tesco's behalf in the middle east.

He was extremely critical of Israel, and the support that the US gives to them.
He said that Obama's nobel award was a farce. He singled out the peacefull
demonstraters at the Apartied Wall in the west bank, and the 2 Norweigan
doctors who worked in Gaza during the massacre.
Overall, he really singled out Israel for severe critisim, and just as I had expected!!!!

For a man of 81, he sure is one sharp cookie, and it's no wonder he is unmatched
in his field. He is just spellbinding to listen to, and everyone in the crowd were treated
to a night no one will forget.

I had the privlidge to interview Noam yesterday for an hour!!
As he is an advisor to the Free Gaza Movement, I decided to send him an e mail
10 days ago requesting an interview. Within 3 hours, he replied and kindly agreed
to one!! I was blown away by his response, and spent the past 10 days coming
up with questions.........

Anyhow, it went extremley well, and he spent an hour chatting to me and I got to
ask him 5 questions. He answered each question in depth, and should make for an interesting
viewing whenever it is edited. My friend has a production company and he
had the camera rolling for us.
Another good friend of mine is a complete Chomsky fanatic, and he tagged along
yesterday as a roadie........
Well, he was happier than any child will be this christmas morning!!!
As he was to take a 2 30 train to Dublin, we offered to drive him to Dublin instead..
When he said yes, my friend and myself couldn't believe our luck......
I imposed a 50 mph speed limit on my friend who was driving, as I wanted this journey
to last as long as possible!!!
Now, the subjects we covered on this journey covered every continent, country, war,
president, and a fair bit of chat about Israel......
We had a common ground on this topic!

En Route he had to stop for a piss in Newry, so where better to piss, than the
beautiful toilets at the back of the Fiveways Service station in Newry......
They have won numerous awards for their cleaniness, and yesterday,
they were in tip top shape...

Thankfully, my friend got lost in Dublin, and the 45 minutes we spent looking for
his hotel just extended the conversation to our advantage.
At the hotel, he invited us to stay and join him for tea, so without a moments
hesitation, we were sitting down with the legs crossed, and in for another yarn or four....

He signed 9 books for us both, and of course, my large Tyrone To Gaza flag recieved his signiture...
All said and done, we ended up talking for nearly 6 hours yesterday, and he was one truely remarkable
man. He is a very warm down to earth gentleman, and our time together will never be forgotten.

It was a chance in a lifetime, and boy what a chance it was.
He was very impressed about my trip to Gaza, and he has offered us any support that
we might need on our next trip to Gaza by sea. I filled him in on the next Free Gaza boat trip in January,
where we will attempt to sail a cargo ship from Ireland to Gaza filled with hundreds of tonnes
of building and medical aid. I had told him about linking up with the Quinn Group
who will supply 300 tonne of cement for rebuilding work in Gaza, and he
thought that it was an incredible idea. Anything he can do for us, he promised he would. Legend.

So folks, as you can see, it was one hell of an experience, and one I will find hard to better.....
So, the next time you take a piss in the Fiveways toilet, remember that this is the spot
where the worlds greatest intellect pissed.....
Here is a link to a few photos from the weekend:

http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=541019313#/album.php?aid=152841&id=541019313

PS, when pressed about the team of the decade, he said Antrim were a close second to Tyrone.....
#2271
Massey, sure if you spot me in the crowd, come over and put speak on me!
If I get a chance to ask Noam a question at the Q&A session, sure
you will be able to spot me..........

Not only will there be a full report Aerlik, but sure you never know what else
I will have to report.........

Have big mission for Gaza planned, and all will be revealed over the weekend!
#2272
Well folks, I'm heading to the Noam Chomsky lecture tonight in the Whitla Hall,
and I was wondering if anyone else is going along?
No doubt it will be an incredible experience, and one to remember.
Sure if anyone is going, maybe we could meet up afterwards for a few scoops?

#2274
Well folks, I have been following this thread with a vested interest, as i'm helping a charity who are
running one of these "Vegas Fight Nights" in a couple of weeks time.
The concept is a good idea, however, the costs involved are incredibly high.
The fixed costs for ring, referee's, judges, etc, etc run to well over £5,000, and then there is their
commision on ticket sales, which is 15% of ALL sales.
So, commision on a night like this was in excess of £4,500.
Therefore, it would take over £12,000 to put on a night like this.
For a club to run one of these nights, it could be done for a
whole lot less, and therefore making more profit for themselves.

The trouble that flared up on the night is no reflection on the organisers,
and to be honest, take any 1,000 people from any county, fill them with drink
at a fight night, some tear gas and the PSNI, then you will be gauranteed trouble!!
As far as i'm aware, the entertainment on the night was fantastic, and it's a shame that
the trouble at the end spoilt what was a good night.
It is a black eye for the GAA, and for Armagh folk who didn't deserve it.
#2275
Was talking to a good friend of mine there from Cavan, and he was filling me in.
Apparently yer man was fantastic entertainment all night.
He had a few costumes with him, and he would slip off and come
back in another outfit. He did a fine Elvis by all accounts!!

The lad on the top right was representing his late father, John Mc Nally.
John passed away a few years ago, and he holds a unique record as he was
one of 6 brothers who played on a county championship winning team
in the 50's.

Have to say that Robert Ludlum wrote a few good books.
Personally though, Bryce Courtney is my favourite author.
The Powe Of One is a mighty book.................

GAA Discussion / Re: TG4 - Best Footballer: 1984-2009
September 30, 2009, 12:09:47 AM
To be honest, it's between Canavan and Fitzgearld.
Blaney not been on the list is a shame all the same.
Canavan will probably get the nod over Maurice, as he
was without a doubt, the best we have seen in that period.
From a minor in '88, winning a AI vocational the same year,
right up to another AI win in '05, he was always sublime.
5 All Irelands in 17 years will also ensure that he will be
selected as the best footballer between '84 and '09.

Just my opinion though...............

General discussion / Re: Tommy Tiernan
September 25, 2009, 05:54:50 PM
John Denver, you're right, I fairly sank Tommy this week all right!!

I have been following this argument closely all week, and to be honest,
I can see both sides to it.
To read in the papers what he had said, would make your skin curl.
However, been there at the time was slightly different.
If anyone has watched the video, you will understand where i'm comming from.
Before he went off on his rant, he talked about recklssness, and not holding back.
Everyones interpretatiion of this will be different, however, at the time it
braced us for what he came out with, and the humor in the rant was more to
do with the shock of what he had said. Everyone in the tent was laughing, and
no one to my knowledge was offended by it there and then.
I bet if you took the same group of people, and assumed they wern't there,
showed them the transcript in the papers, the majority would be shocked at his words.

Lets face facts folks, we all have been guilty at times for laughing at either black, Indian, Paki
jew, Irish, American (acceptable though), Nazi, traveller, sick or other racial or ethnic joke in our time.
The Holocaust is about the only subject that is out of bounds for comedy.
Apart from a few radicals who deny it, practically everyone in the world accepts that it was
probably the single worst thing to happen in the 20th century.

When Alan Shatter says that those who laughed at it in the tent were as guilty as Tommy for laughing,
well, by his logic, he is as guilty as Israel for war crimes, given his support for them during the massacre in Gaza.

This was my 1st time to see Tommy Tiernan, and I will probably be barred for life now......

P.S.  The fact that I was wearing a Viva Palestina tee shirt probably set him off.........

Front page in todays Sunday Tribune.

In fact, i'm to blame for getting Tommy into this current do do......

At the Electric Picnic, he was been interviewed in the Hot Press tent.
In general Q+A, I asked him if he was ever accused of been anti semitic,
given his joke about jews.
Well, he went off on  tiride about jews, which wasn't for the faint hearted.
He is now in a bit of hot water, but sure then again, he is no stranger
to hot water!!

Can someone post a link to the story?
