That tweet is  similar  to what I've been thinking since I heard about the enquiry

Seems too good to be true tbh. An enquiry won't guarantee  anything.  I believe this high  profile case was chosen as it will probably cost a lot of money. The outcome is already decided, so  the chances  of the real truth surfacing  is next to zero.

Public will go mad at the cost of it , nothing found,  collusion  is a myth. If we can't find nothing with the  police service, who "keep"  files, what chances with paramilitaries who dont have filing cabinets and  correspondence with headed notepaper? Now let's put a stop to this legacy nonsense. Money  would be better spent elsewhere.  We could have built four Casements with the money. Those at the top of the tree sleep soundly, reputations intact. Job done.
Maybe I'm being overly optimistic (we always have to treat the Brits with a healthy dose of scepticism) but with Starmer's background there might actually be a slight chance of justice.

Cutting the winter fuel allowance for pensioners smacks of a man that either doesn't get it, or takes his orders from elsewhere, the latter I think, a puppet on an establishment (Tory) string

Let's be honest about this.

What % of pensioners actually depend on this payment? How many are depositing it in their savings or spending on their hols the following year.

I totally get that plenty require it, but there has to be a better fairer system of who needs it and who doesn't.

I'd advocate giving those who are in genuine need, even more support, paid for by using the money from those that don't.

They are not cutting it, are they not just mean testing it and those that are in a better financial position won't actually miss it.

My mum needs it, but if they stopped her getting it, we as a family would make sure that she's not missing out, and we're lucky with the bigger family and can do that.

Her mum doesn't need and shouldn't be getting it

People thinking there is a money tree that has endless reserves are living in cloud cuckoo land, prioritising the coffers is required.

This isn't taking away from other things that they are maybe not doing in taxing the 1% more and the big business too, which they and the previous governments have ducked

As for this enquiry I really hope it goes the full distance and brings down those that facilitated it in the background or did nothing but thwart cases brought about at the time, that murder and ten years later Rosemary Nelson's always sticks in your head

What are the chances that they will get any information from the British State, between redacted documents and those that have been 'lost', there won't be too much information remaining.

I can't see there being much more that has been drawn out already, but by the same token it needs to be shown that people are accountable, and unfortunately in this particular case a lot of people have died (those involved or witnesses) or as you have said lost information will merely leave them still missing out.

I've always wanted a truth amnesty, suppose its easier for me to say that as I never lost a direct family member during the troubles, but if you knew the truth, then you can at least draw a line under it, move on with your life as best you can, rather than the unknowing of things

I have always felt that anything "state" related should be investigated. I dunno if people feel like this creates a hierarchy of victims but if the people who are supposed to be governing / policing you are running round killing people, or colluding to kill people, then they should be held to account etc. Yes everyone should be accountable for wrong doings but it's the state.

Many on this board think we should in general trust whatever governments tell us but those very same people appear to have a special compartment in their brains when it comes to the troubles.

I find that strange

I love generalisations, they're the thing that keeps me going

Trusting any British government to do the right thing is pissing into the wind. Whatever about Starmer and his intentions, collusion and the desire to not let their dirty laundry get aired goes way beyond even his head.

Were 'they' also behind state collusion or was the British Government off on a solo run?

But there are people who will question everything and look for a reason why it can't be true..

Dirty war, dirty tactics, not a surprise to know that this was common enough.

And what do you think is happening in Palestine, with the full support of our great leaders and media? I find it strange that people aren't questioning WTF this is?

Are people not though? Western governments are complicit and it's a widely held view but what are you meant to do? (bar give off on the internet about it )

You are speaking to the wrong people here on the internet, or any other social media outlet.

Social media has given air time to a lot of headers, unfortunately it muddies the waters with regards to fact fiction or tweaking the narrative.

When a story pops up, you generally have to think about how true it is now as there will always be an alternative view.

'Your' media won't change it either, our governments and others allowed this to happen and are complicit with the genocide ( and others, but I'm not dumbing down)

But with topic I hope that the  family get some more answers
