Truth hurts

I saw a few comments online about streaming services being too expensive. Armagh was £10 a game at the  weekend. Are costs becoming too much?

Armagh18

Yeah £10 a game is very steep I think.

The season pass for £90 would be decent value if you watch a lot of games. Outside of the later stages with games in the Athletic grounds the quality cane be absolutely terrible which is poor form giving they're charging.

In Tyrone it was £12 to stream each of the senior semi finals and £14 to watch the intermediate semis so thats £38 to watch all 4 this weekend.

The 3 finals will probably be around the £15 mark and they are stand alone fixtures.

Dreadnought

cavan have it €12 per game, but a weekend pass is €20 (and a season pass is €240) so there's value if you watch more than one game a weekend

£10 is a fair price, though they should discount for a weekend pass or multiple games.

tiempo

Couple of years back GAA Go was charging separately for the club hurling and football finals on back to back in Croke, thought that was poor from HQ

In general while standalone costs might mount up i do think counties still have a balance to strike, first of all having the service at all is a bonus, we're spoiled these days with coverage and should be thankful the coverage is as good, especially for junior level games which appear well covered in lots of counties, secondly it can't be so cheap that people will stay at home and watch the games. People through the gate is important too. Season pass obviously works well but couldn't criticise a county for not running them.

Back to the original point, at base level i think if there is a double-triple header the online access should show all games and price should reflect that

You could have bought the month of October for £20 and got multiple games, including the semi-finals and finals.

How long does the streaming stay up in various counties?  Connacht GAA for their underage county game streams you can't watch back on matches after 24 hours.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Surely the illegal streaming has had a major effect on the money intake

It wouldn't have because illegal streaming has always been there it's not like it's just cropped up this year.

There is some amount of games available for people to watch nowadays in comparison to when I played, If I wanted to know about a game you'd go and watch it, pay in at the gate and that be that, the other results you were either told at the pub or you seen the results in the Irish news on the Monday

The amount of gurning now over the games being streamed is a first world problem, people are expecting sky sports style coverage, twenty cameras, half time analysis and guest/star commentators.. Talk about getting above our stations.

This is an past time sport, not professional, yes there is passion and bragging rites and community spirit but if you are really interested and want to watch the game either go to it or pay the £10 or £15 quid to watch it from the comfort of your sofa. Proper clubmen will go and enjoy the games speak to friends and shout conflicting instructions on to the pitch, head back to club for a pint and a laugh, those clubmen unable to go will watch on the telly if streamed.

If someone is thinking a tenner is steep, keep your money in your pocket lad, or get a job that can afford you a tenner at the weekends to watch or pay into a game
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

The amature sport tag doesn't really wash now adays. Using armaghtv for example, some of the earlier games the coverage was brutal. Like really bad with freezing, rain on the lense, bad camera work. The games may have only been £5/£6 but that is not the point. If you pay for something you should expect a reasonable standard of quality (as you would in every other walk of life). I don't understand it when people are happy with poor services when it comes under the GAA umbrella. The GAA makes how many million per year? We should expect a good service and promotion of our games which we all invest into

I don't know the ins and outs of Armagh TV nor the Tech behind it, but there seemed to be a change just near the end of the league, a new provider/platform of some sort. I'm guessing there were teething problems or maybe sold a pup, I dunno.

The Tories would be proud of that line.

I thought that I saw Vimeo, a very reputable provider, mentioned somewhere at the weekend.
