Yeah that is a good point. I dunno how it would work at all.

Jonathan Wilson on how rotten Qatar is and how corrupt it was to award the World Cup to it.

Lycett has been made to look like a tube but has succeeded in raising his profile which is what he has been after with the Beckham bashing. Complete unknown until all this.

He was on Laura Kuensberg's first sunday morning show where she gives labour politicians a very tough time and goes extremely easy on tory government ministers. He absolutely destroyed her on that show in a very clever way and left her extremely embarrassed. I'm not a big fan of his at all but he was really good on that show.

Another winter World Cup in store

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/67271423

Saudi Arabia is set to host the men's 2034 World Cup after Fifa confirmed it was the only bidder for the tournament.
Australia decided against bidding to stage the tournament hours before Fifa's deadline for declarations of interest on Tuesday.

Morocco, Portugal and Spain are the only bidders for the 2030 edition, with games also played in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.
A Fifa congress will confirm the hosts in late 2024.
The 2026 World Cup will take place in the US, Mexico and Canada.
Australia's governing body Football Australia says it intends to focus its efforts on hosting the Women's Asian Cup in 2026 and the Club World Cup in 2029.
Football's world governing body Fifa had said the 2034 World Cup would be held in Asia or Oceania, and an Australian bid was regarded as the only potential challenger to Saudi Arabia, which announced its intention to bid shortly after Fifa's decision.
After Tuesday's deadline passed, football's world governing body confirmed the bids for the 2030 and 2034 World Cups and said there will now be "thorough bidding and evaluation processes" for the tournaments.
Fifa said it will "conduct a targeted dialogue with bidders, to ensure complete, comprehensive bids are received and evaluated against the minimum hosting requirements as also previously approved by the Fifa Council....

Look-Up!

So another winter World Cup in Saudi 2034. A lot of people not happy.

Anyone got a link to the documentary on Saudi that ITV did last month that can be watched outside the 6 counties?

Martin Samuels in today's UK Times really gives everyone both barrels, FIFA, Saudi & every FA pretty much - bar Norway. He's not a fan of Fantino. (No links unfortunately).

FIFA are really a disgrace of an organisation.  The process carried out yesterday would have embarrassed a tinpot dictator.

I've reached the point where I can't be bothered with the off the field stuff. People have issues with Saudi but the likes of the USA itself is sponsoring what's going on in Palestine so why are people don't boycotting that World Cup.

It looks like another winter World Cup and I thought the one in Qatar was brilliant. Hopefully it was because players tend to be in a better shape physically at that time of the year. I see they're talking about January? Would that be Jan 34 or Jan 35? Would probably have to be 35 I suppose to fit all the qualifying into the FIFA calendar.

Look-Up!

With the new CL format, players complaining about the number of games and forming a Union, this latest charade plus bearing in mind the number of teams, games and length of tournament increasing, are we likely to see severe player backlash at some stage? Or maybe money talks and will soothe all over..

Exactly this! Is games going to US for next World Cup and their foreign policy human rights record is appalling. Not exactly squeaky clean in how they their own people either...

Have you  seen the  matches/teams  involved for the new club World Cup? It's nearly like  the regular international  World Cup!

I know players are  very well paid and all , but the amount of games  now is ridiculous. It's just one big  cash  cow after another  with all these tournaments

Hadn't realised the plans for the club WC, never gave it much heed, seemed like a pretty pointless tournament. Something will have to give and if the top corporations clubs had their way, it would probably be the domestic leagues.
