Ireland have been much better with 5 across midfield.

Did you watch the first half?

Blowitupref

A gift to Greece in added time, Ireland was better in this 2nd half all for nothing in a 2-0 defeat.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Comedy hour scales loose pass nearly gifts a goal and then  2 seconds later kelleher decides to give it a go. Did they not learn after that daft goal against Finland.

Second half was better. We are getting better but Greece are on a different level.

Ireland are improving and hopefully that continues.

There was a deflection off Scales for the first goal that took it away from Kelleher. The second goal was a gift from Kelleher. On another night we might have got away with nil nil.

Sheedy

Greece definitely better team in the first half but Ireland much improved in second and with bit more composure we could have got an equaliser. A defeat but a performance to build on.

Greece haven't qualified for a major tournament since 2014, 1st half tonight and against England the other night it looks like they may have a team now that will end that poor record.

Ireland got the setup wrong from the start. Greece ran through Ireland with ease for 50 minutes and a goal was inevitable, such was the relentless pressure. Knight and Cullen are not able to hold midfield. A tiring Greece and a five across midfield finally gave Ireland a foothold in the game. Poor mistake by Kelleher after Houghton just giving him man of the match. He pulled off some great saves in fairness.

From the Bunker

We've been sinking now for a couple of years. You don't turn these things around in a couple of games.

We have so many players at the same average level, that you could be giving debut after debut and muddying the waters with a litany of players - one no better than the other.

He'll have to settle with a solid 8 regulars soon and grow from there.

Some stats: Greece with 83% possession so far, three shots on target to Ireland's none. 11 shots to two. Four corners to one in favour of the home side.

That's after 30 mins on the 42 live reporting so yeah a complete battering

Always talks in hindsight - he should have done this or done that.
