Quote from: Milltown Row2 on January 13, 2025, 09:58:28 PMWatched a quite disturbing documentary called The Killing of America. Made in 1981 so only dealt with how American changed through gun violence and murder.

It's pretty graphic in places so not for the weak stomach ones.

But the brutality of it, even for then is really hard to get your head around.

Is that the one on Prime ?

Aye..

I see there is another season coming of the original too.

Enjoyed it so far.

I thought the Dexter one off afterthought series had  been condemned on here to eternal mediocrity when it came out years ago, is this some other Dexter drama which is not excruciatingly awful in all respects?

New one out, Original Sin. Set when he is 20 odd, in Miami, with lots of Original characters in it too. Great casting choice for Dexter (Irish Actor), unbelievably similar in all ways.

New season coming out soon post the most recent one, with Dexter back.

There's grim and bleak shows, then there's American Primeval.

Grotesquely grim and bludgeounly bleak.

I really enjoyed it.

Speaking of grim and bleak - i've just completed season 2 of From. I've actually quite enjoyed it so far
That was never a square ball!!

Really enjoyed the first season. Bailed after 3 episodes of season 2, didn't seem to be going anywhere.

I'm in the same boat in S1. Can someone tell me that there is a wider story arc worth persevering with other than the ghouls appear after dark?

Jell 0 Biafra

It's by the guys who made Lost.  So I wouldn't expect a satisfying narrative arc.

It does move on a bit towards the second half of season 2 hinting towards something bigger than the ghouls but I don't really know what's going on half the time to be honest. Like mentioned, its made by same guys as Lost so i'm not too hopeful of a satisfactory explanation. I'm enjoying it though and will watch season 3.

I have a problem where I can't give up on a show once I start. From is one I would love to though, same shit every season.

Not a patch on Lost.
