Moortown V Derrylaughan

Greencastle V Moy ?

Dungannon may have ran out of luck.
Errigal cant play bad 3 games in a row.
Battle of the lough... Dkb made off strronger stuff here.
Feel as if Greencastle could upset the Moy very handy.  - Neither team will win title regardless.

Probably the closest prediction to it. Moy and GC scored 9 points between them. Dkb as I said "Outsiders to Favourites" after 60 minutes football.

Hard to see by a Trillick back to back at this stage, especially if Canavan's injury is as serious as we are led believe.
The scoring options for Trillick are vast and when they can hold players like Micky Gallagher and Simon Garrity for impact subs it's hard to see anything but another O'Neill Cup travelling to the Fermanagh border.

Killyclogher again left it late to try and stage a fight back but Petey Harte showed he is still dangerous when given the time and space. Errigal's goal was too easy for my liking but with teams experimenting with outfield players in goal these results can happen.

A repeat final in consecutive years - first since 02-03. Errigal again return for this repeat - last time they won one and lost one. It's not a certainty that history won't repeat itself but will take a monumental effort.

Intermediate semi finals were really unentertaining. The only positive on the day was the soup from JP's shop. Greencastle should be fortunate that they get a second bite in this. Shane Meehan is getting his fair bit of stick but the umpires were in position and need to consider if they provided the support given the number of bodies in the square. Moy should have been preparing for a final if Conroy had converted the free prior to the goal. Surprised to see John McCullagh back on the field so soon after his ACL injury and setbacks along the way. All I hope is Friday nights game on a better pitch and with less of a gale force wind might make for better viewing.

Moortown tactics baffled me. To concede the kickout when playing with the wind is criminal, regardless of the booming lock James Kennedy has. Derrylaughan sh*thousery at the end pulling and dragging players to the ground was cleary cynical and warranted some punishment but I feel they did enough to win.

The hurling finals at the weekend provided some real excitement to an otherwise dull weekend. Omagh have some exceptionally skilful young hurlers and they got their just rewards for their second half performance.
The senior final was a fine spectacle and Eire Ogs showed they weren't letting this game slip and Sean Og Grugan stepped up to get them over the line.

Quote from: Easymoneysniper on October 08, 2024, 11:22:26 AMAn interesting weekends of football, upsets, late drama and some brilliant scores. Just thought I'd give my take on each fixture and how things went.

Greencastle and the moy, interesting is not the word I would use to describe this one, for those that missed it, don't be worrying, you would have been safer watching paint dry. Similar to the previous round Michael conroy contributed nothing from play relying on free kicks to get him in the game, in fairness a few brilliant scores from dead ball but with the exception of that and the goal at the end, this game was as bad an intermediate semi final you will see. Hard to believe the year is 2024 and Sean Cavanagh is still throwing the same shimmy as he did 15 years ago. Talk of reducing the price of admission for the replay to ensure people attend.

Moortown and derrylaughan, moortown played their usual disgusting brand of football with bodies behind the ball at all times. If a team is playing with the wind, why concede the kickout time after time knowing you have to play against the breeze in the second half and haven't look advantage of the wind on the score board? For a manager to be saying in interviews that leagues are only for playing in, I wonder what's going through his head now with their only route of promotion being LEAGUE playoffs. I'm not sure who told Liam Cushanan he could pull of them boots but I think he should give them a good clean and see if pro direct will take them back. Brian kennedy will be hard stopped in the final, with his strength and size he will dominate whatever team progresses on the other side of the draw.

Trillick wiped the floor with Dungannon, was certainly a shock, not for trillick to progress as I mentioned from early on I thought they would win the championship but for them to go out and rip apart a strong Dungannon team, they have left a real marker down in this semi final. The amount of quality in this trillick team is frightening, if darragh canavans injury is serious the final could end in a similar manner to Friday night.

Killyclogher just don't lie down, I'm not sure why they leave themselves with so much work to do, every round it's like they forget they're in a championship match until the last 15 minutes. Nonetheless a great effort from them this year, and only for a brilliant score at the end they could have been awaiting a second rattle at Errigal. Stephen campbell tried is best to get killyclogher another day out, pulling penalty's out of thin air and giving them calls at every chance he got. I think the county board needs to check this man's bet slips because he must of lumped the draw. Unfortunately for him and his bet slips, Petey Harte produced a phenomenal score to win it and it was a very solid performance from the county player. Ruairi Canavan sent Conal McCann to Alchemist for a coffee and a traybake, rumours Pauric treanor took the under 3.5 goals on bet365, hope the payout was worth it for he nearly cost his team the game.

Feels strange to break down a couple games and not have to comment on Gary Gormleys performance, thankfully the county board came to their senses and demoted Gary to linesman for the intermediate semi finals. I was surprised he was given the ladies finals and I'm sure there were a few controversial calls in this game as well.

Fair play to anyone who actually read all this tripe.

You clearly did, I appreciate you taking the time. Seeing as it is just after 4pm I think you should get back to your shuttering unless you have anything to contribute to the discussion board that is gaa related.

Junior Final on Sunday - I fancy the bordermen for this one think they'll have too much going forward for Killeeshil with the two McGlones, Donnelly and Mcelroy plus Killeeshil heavily reliant on an aging McMullan they would need some of the youth to step up if they have a chance

I was at the greencastle vs moy game and was in awe of a warrior from the small town of Greencastle, Sean Coneely, the number 11, he's  more than just a football player—he is a legend. With broad shoulders and muscles that rippled beneath his jersey 😛, every move he made on the pitch left the crowd breathless. His strength wasn't just in his physique but in the way he commanded the game, weaving through defenders like they were nothing.

Every time he scored, it was as if the world stopped, his name echoing in the cheers. I can't wait to watch him in the steamy replay, the way his powerful legs carried him effortlessly across the field, the glint of determination in his eyes. In that moment, it wasn't just football—it was magic, and Sean Coneely was at the center of it all. I bet he could teach me a thing or two ;)

Disagree, Killeeshil have just as much firepower: Hoy, Oneill, Donnelly, Mcmullan, strong bench with Doyle, donaghy and shorty. Feel Killeeshils defence is well structured and should deal with aghaloos attack which is without doubt very dangerous.

Just feel aghaloo have to many passengers like Douglass and sherry, also questions marks over whether McElroy can show up in the big games.

Should be a cracking game, killeeshil by 2.

Hoy hasn't been at the races at all this championship and Jason Doyle off the bench is lucky he can run the amount of tape he puts on that leg

Just seen on the inter county transfer list that Daniel Miller has transferred from Cormac McAnallens Austrailia back to Killeeshil only days ago. I know he was a decent player in his youth. Is he allowed to play in the final?

Quote from: Patsypower on October 07, 2024, 12:38:54 PMOguz and Ben McDonnell have a neck for completely disappearing on the field, granted Ben moreso than Joe. No wonder their kickouts take so long their keeper cannot find them. Yes errigals half backs do have a lot to offer but it's Colhoun that does the majority of it hes a complete workhorse. McCartan goes to wherever McDonnell goes. Their half forwards though, that's different, mcginley and mcgirr weaken the team.
if Darragh canavan isn't fit errigal are in bother, he's obviously irreplaceable but who do errigal really have could make an impact in thr full forward line. Thomas canavan slows the game for too much, kavanagh is no longer at that standard and traynor hasn't got the shooting power.

Wouldn't rubbish Mark Kavanagh that quickly. As a Carmen man, I think he is a class act. Worth far more than the 2 injury time minutes he got last night. Would start for almost any other club in the county. Personally, I would start him for Errigal.
Over who out of curiosity? Think Ciaran McGinley would be the only one unless you want to take out Robinson and move Canavan to 14 and Kavanagh in the corner
