Quote from: Milltown Row2 on September 12, 2024, 01:17:29 PMThey are not cutting it, are they not just mean testing it and those that are in a better financial position won't actually miss it.

My mum needs it, but if they stopped her getting it, we as a family would make sure that she's not missing out, and we're lucky with the bigger family and can do that.

Her mum doesn't need and shouldn't be getting it

People thinking there is a money tree that has endless reserves are living in cloud cuckoo land, prioritising the coffers is required.

This isn't taking away from other things that they are maybe not doing in taxing the 1% more and the big business too, which they and the previous governments have ducked

As for this enquiry I really hope it goes the full distance and brings down those that facilitated it in the background or did nothing but thwart cases brought about at the time, that murder and ten years later Rosemary Nelson's always sticks in your head

Means tested is fair but it wasn't reported that way initially I think.
As for the money tree argument; that doesn't hold water. Especially when you see how much is being given to Israel etc

Pretty sure they said it was means tested from the start, how that is reported is another matter.

Taking  it away from the  well off pensioners  is one thing but we all know   eventually they will  remove  it from  pension credit pensioners

They'll do it with the  TV licence and over 60's  travel passes in due course  as well

Again it should all be means tested.. anyone that has an affordable living pension shouldn't need the tv licence paid, it's £170, won't be long before it's scrapped and adverts will pay for it.

Over 60's (I've a few friends with them now!) travel passes should be raised to 65, let's be honest, if we are working to 67 nowadays it's a bit early for getting any real use out of it.

Prescriptions should have a price too, anything that can be bought over the counter should not be prescribed. People are lining up for prescriptions that you can get in Boots without a prescription.

These are all low hanging fruit items though, hit the big money makers, plenty big revenue to be made there, before we get to the breadline earners

Yeah I thought so too, but depends on which social media outlet you follow  ;D

I get that but, and no money should ever be given to and country that economy wise is in a better state that it's own, regardless on what's happening in Palestine.

It's easy pickings and I've said they need to go for high end stuff rather than low hanging fruit

Dirty war, dirty tactics, not a surprise to know that this was common enough.

And what do you think is happening in Palestine, with the full support of our great leaders and media? I find it strange that people aren't questioning WTF this is?

You are speaking to the wrong people here on the internet, or any other social media outlet.

Social media has given air time to a lot of headers, unfortunately it muddies the waters with regards to fact fiction or tweaking the narrative.

When a story pops up, you generally have to think about how true it is now as there will always be an alternative view.

'Your' media won't change it either, our governments and others allowed this to happen and are complicit with the genocide ( and others, but I'm not dumbing down)

But with topic I hope that the  family get some more answers

I find that strange

What are the chances that they will get any information from the British State, between redacted documents and those that have been 'lost', there won't be too much information remaining.

I can't see there being much more that has been drawn out already, but by the same token it needs to be shown that people are accountable, and unfortunately in this particular case a lot of people have died (those involved or witnesses) or as you have said lost information will merely leave them still missing out.

I've always wanted a truth amnesty, suppose its easier for me to say that as I never lost a direct family member during the troubles, but if you knew the truth, then you can at least draw a line under it, move on with your life as best you can, rather than the unknowing of things

No doubt in life there are cover ups, lies told, money to be made and  power to be gained from it, but seriously, the biggest loss of life on American soil since Pearl Harbour was done by people with their government?

And no one in all this time has spilt the beans on it? Come on

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on September 11, 2024, 11:21:44 PMWalking dead it great once you get over the initial series

Yes Lost, lost the plot and the ending was rushed (in my view) which is crazy considering the length of episodes for the 6 seasons, but I like the theory behind it and would prefer what's happens in it to what other probability to life's end is about lol.

All of Vikings is quality

Struggling now to find my 10pm viewing, few things finishing off at the minute, but shes watching them, perfect couple on Netflix is intriguing though pretty similar to stuff done before, Bono's daughter acting in it.

I have restarted watching 24 and myself and herself have restarted the fall

Yeah, thought about getting back into 24 as I only watched maybe the first few..

Basically watching the telly prevents you going on the phone and mind-numbingly losing 4 hours of your life on going down rabbit holes (as opposed to watching 240 hours of Lost lol)
