I don't like amalgamations in competitions like this.

There's a lot of teams in the MacRory Cu nowadays.

Damien Diver, who is the county coaching officer, put it together in the hopes of improving underage talent and giving lads more high profile exposure, including for university scholarships. Part of his rationale is that young lads in the north often bypass their local schools to attend the big traditional football schools (no idea how true this is). He's also talking about expanding it to other parts of the county.

MacRory is County standard football, the more people exposed to it the better, no brainer

Martin Samuels states the club world cup is being bankrolled by Saudi Arabia.

Martin Samuels in today's UK Times really gives everyone both barrels, FIFA, Saudi & every FA pretty much - bar Norway. He's not a fan of Fantino. (No links unfortunately).

FIFA are really a disgrace of an organisation.  The process carried out yesterday would have embarrassed a tinpot dictator.

Ruthless as per normal by Israel, not very surprising and makes political and military sense for them to do what they are doing. They can do whatever they like anyway.

Was at Armagh match 1.10 to 1.4. Enniskillen an extremely limited side that came to frustrate Armagh and hope for the best up front pretty much. Their goal came from a point effort that hit a post and was poked home, tho tbf Armagh's goal was a fluke too.  Man marked Armagh's main man too. It was a very poor game to watch.

Take a point now. Ralston is just awful, Idah has the touch of a shotputter since he's come on.

Quote from: bennydorano on December 07, 2024, 10:01:37 AMStarted watching an Australian show called Mr Inbetween after noticing a random online recommendation, it's very good. Low level crime drama with some typical aussie humour, 30min episodes.

It's very good, very well written. The lower level production values / budget keep it rooted in reality and add to the charm.
Gorged on it, excellent show 👌 while I'd love to see more, 3 seasons feels about right.

Man and son going to game, gather a few more buicíns (some whose parents had no interest)and in with them all.
Could earn the GAA a few "customers" for life instead of Sky Sports getting them.
It's not as if all the €5s will make the GAA much money either.

You have it there. I know fathers who bring half a team of young lads to home matches. This is in turn harvesting GAA supporters of the future.

For me it always said the GAA was of the people and letting under 16's in free was part of the good will encompassed by the Amateur ethos of the intercounty player.

Similar to a point I've made on the GAAGO discussion a while back, the GAA regularly want to ride 2 horses, the aren't we brilliant amateurs and we truly value our volunteers & members,  but here's another price gouge to suck up.

Won't affect me until the grandkids come along now tho. Still, shows the direction we always seem to be heading as an organisation

St Paul's Bessbrook won the Rannafast 2 years ago, so in theory Magherafelt & Omagh have both potentially tricky ties in the play offs. St Paul's were brutal last year tho, they might have lost a few of that team. I think Abbey CBS Newry are worth keeping an eye on, I think they lost that Rannafast final to St Paul's which was unexpected.

3 additional teams this year must have confused all the teachers! They could have at least let the Group winners avoid the play off round. As bad as the Derry SFC Championship group round ffs.

Quote from: giveherlong on December 09, 2024, 01:35:48 PMThought Errigal done very well on stopping/slowing the Kilcoo ball carriers we seen V Scotstown. With the man coming at them they faced them straight up several times forcing them to run straight into the frontal contact rather than looking to get a hand in first
Said it a few times - Scotstown were masters of their own downfall tactically by sticking to the mano a mano approach. Errigal choked up the central channels yesterday with bodies, simple but very effective.
