Quote from: Look-Up! on Today at 12:40:57 PMNewcastle looked very dangerous last night but Liverpool will be disappointed not to come away with all the points. But inevitable luck to go against them at some stage. To put it in perspective if Kelleher had not made that mistake, they would be on course for over 100 points. That pace is not sustainable over 38 games. City picking up 3 points another inevitability. A team like that will not lose games indefinitely. Thought Arsenal looked very solid and Chelsea are looking like a real team. Fixture list for next month is very difficult to call especially when you don't know that the teams or injury situations will be over a grueling schedule. Banana skins everywhere for everyone. Momentum might have shifted slightly but the chasing pack will need plenty more luck over this period and hope more things go against Liverpool.

They are.  And their squad is so stacked with talent that they have a whole different team to play the European games.  The 2nd team are finding that competition pretty easy too.

I've said to our ones a few years in a row to get me socks.  They always laugh and think I'm joking. Great present.

Paper hat is a must! Dont trust anyone who doesnt partake.

My ones are now at the age were the presents get smaller and require less building but the prices go up :)  I wont miss building things into the wee hours.

Tradition in ours now is that everyone comes to our house on the big day for the feed. It puts a bit of pressure on, but it's worth it, especially now that I'm at the age of knowing that every year of this company is a blessing.

A few beverages and a few tunes to complete the day.

It's round 2 of man versus food on Boxing day at the in-laws.

This lad deserves his own thread and not to be stinkin up the UFC one anymore.  I saw his statement about getting back to fighting.  Let's be honest, his UFC career is over.

Well, the rumour is that it's not him, it's a family connection.

I've had friends in a similar boat that have been denied, whether that be because of a brother or parent and their past. It was awful for them as they'd never been involved in anything themselves and if it's the same for Andy it's a tough one for him I'm sure.

Quote from: Armagh18 on November 18, 2024, 09:50:30 AMThey'll be looking after themselves and get a couple of training sessions in. Not ideal obviously but they were never going to miss a holiday like that.

I remember back in the noughties when Tyrone had a good few trips away after winning AI that there was a cash equivalent on offer for anyone who didn't go. I Know some availed of it due to club commitments. Not saying that's the right thing but wondering is it an option? I say this from a perspective that football has gotten too serious and players should enjoy themselves more so fair play to them for going.

as a CE man id rather they didnt go but at the same time I dont begrudge them. If that makes sesne

Could they have went after their involvement? Not that i'd be against what they did, but 5 lads going from the one club would have been decent craic anyways without the rest at a later time

no idea. I dont think Andy Murnin went at all

Heard that was not through want of going, but you know what Lurgan is like for rumours. Unfortunate for the lad, if true.

Does surely.  Hampers preparation of course, but you know these lads will be fully focused on the day. It would have been a shame for them to lose out. I'm glad they were able to make it work.

The Diplomat s2 on Netflix. I'd forgotten about this show. Took me a wee while to remember what had happened in s1, but s2 is also very good. Worth a watch.

Quote from: lurganblue on November 17, 2024, 11:40:59 AMSome crowds at the cinema for Gladiator 2. Every session seemed to be packed. Yes it maybe doesn't hit the height of the 1st one but who expected that to be the case. It's a quality movie in it's own right. I'll certainly watch it again.

I have to say too, it's a great cast. They all do a great job. Big pressure on Paul Mescal and he is really good in this. He edges towards the style of maximus but he's also definitely his own man. I think the balance was struck well.

Quote from: lurganblue on November 14, 2024, 11:32:24 AMMary Lou on the Brolly podcast worth a listen, if interested.  Dion tries the old, but the IRA chat... and Brolly does some amount of waffling.

Funny enough I was listening to some commentary on the US election and they said that Trump got on a lot of podcasts all over America during the previous months.

That's how he got through to 'mainstream' people.

He got his word out that way and it worked.

Think I heard somewhere that his Joe Rogan podcast got 14 million downloads.  Definitely the way to get a message across these days.  I'm convinced these TV debates sway about a half a dozen voters.

Yes the Joe Rogan podcast certainly helped his campaign. There were perhaps similar Biden type concerns about Trump but this podcast certainly seemed to put this to bed.  Barron Trump is supposed to have encouraged this approach.

Please don't be buying into this Barron narrative that has developed since he won the election.
Hardly a mention of him before the result was known and now we are supposed to believe he was this genius behind the whole campaign.
He would be the first genius in that family. Money and influence maybe the rest  :-\

🤣 noted.
