Ballymore are the Kildare Junior Champs. Should go well.

Intermediate is between Leixlip & Monasterevin - neither are particularly strong, Leixlip will edge it but do nothing in Leinster.

Senior in Kildare is the big 4, Athy, Celbridge, Moorefield and Sarsfields. Celbridge for me.

There's two clubs in Leixlip, Confey are or were in senior of late.

Dinny Breen

Leixlip were relegated to Senior last year. Confey are indeed senior.

It does however have large immigrant population from Dublin who don't integrate with the locals, keeping themselves largely to their middle calls ghettos.

Leixlip in the other sports department has Leixlip Utd (30+ teams) Barnhall Rugby (20+teams), Leixlip Celtics Basketball(20+teams) and one of the largest athletic clubs in the country La Cheile.  Plus of the best canoeing clubs, MMA, boxing etc all within a 5 mile radius.

Big town but culturally and sportingly diverse. Large West of Ireland population traditionally drove GAA in the town but they are all getting old now...

Ballymore Eustace is it? Think Erin Rovers beat them two years ago.

I forgot about Confey a club started by mainly Connacht men.

I wonder could ye persuade GAA Top brass that the GAA needs a strong Leixlip? ::)

Fr. Manning Gaels won Intermediate in Longford last Sunday, with Kenagh winning the Junior championship. In previous years, the runners-up in Intermediate had represented Longford in Junior, but Kenagh are a solely Junior club so go through instead.

Senior final next Sunday between Killoe and Slashers with Killoe strongly favoured.
Leader Cup winners: 1945, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023.

Confey is also Michael Fitzsimons original club. He owes his successful career to the hard work of dedicated Kildare volunteers.
There's Seán Brady going in, what dya think Seán?

A Dub buying a starter home in Leixlip is the very same as, say, Lucan.

There would be a very small percentage who are mad into GAA and would straight away head up to the GAA club, go the adult team matches, etc.
So 95% wouldn't cross the door of the GAA club until the kids come along. Then most would bring their kids (at least a few times!) to the local soccer or GAA club or both.

It's the awful realisation that the titles are tainted, and he knows the Dubs don't have the respect of us culchies, which they crave more than anything.

Maybe so. I'd just read the anti-rugby thread before this!

Jeez the jokes are flying in today. In a conversation about Leixlip though, so you should try harder for a bit of context
