Live streaming - Kingscourt Stars v Corduff Gaels

12 July 2010

This week sees Kingscourt Stars GAA break new ground for Cavan and Ulster GAA. On Tuesday 13th July @ 8pm they will become the first Ulster club to stream live footage of a GAA club match on their own website - www.kingscourtstars.ie.

After months of preparation, a rather run of the mill match takes on a far greater significance. A challenge match between the minors of Kingscourt Stars and Corduff Gaels (Monaghan) will be streamed live on the club website meaning that people all over the world will have the opportunity to view the match (well it can't be any worse than the World Cup Final!!).

Hopefully the match and the streaming will prove to be a success and will be the start of regular live matches on the website. So if you can't make it down to the park, just log onto www.kingscourtstars.ie at 8pm ish (it is a challenge after all!) and witness a small part of history.

Dr Crokes do it down in Kerry AFAIK

How does this work? Have they a high-def webcam connected up to a broadband connection and stream it back to the server?

Aye I remember watching the County Final last year featuring Dr. Crokes and South Kerry??

Fair play to Kingscourt.   They have a great website and feature like live streaming just really show up the site of the Cavan website even more

Just watched the U-12 final from 1985, that Kingscourt team was fairly handy. The number 9 looked a great player for that age group.

What's the legalities of this? Do the GAA or County Board not have the rights to broadcast matches, whether that be club or county?
