A few of ye probably saw me asking for pictures recently of Dooher and Canavan lifting Sam as whilst there are loads in google images most are quite small and when you print them out are poor quality
With the chat recently of Aughabrack and the players we produced over the years I was wondering if I could get some good pics of Patsy Kerlin, Paddy Ball in their playing days and see could I create a picture with them alongside Dooher and Stevie O'Neill.
Anyone got any such pics can you post them here and maybe this thread could be used for other good Tyrone county pics such as these ones I found on the web

Great photos. I never knew Bruce Grobbelaar played Tyrone.
Sub keeper in '86 was Martin Dorman - think he played for either Edendork or the Fianna.
Don't think the mascot ended up in a senior tyrone jersey - from memory he was the son of a county board official or backroom team member but I stand corrected on that.
Did McKenna like to look sideways always?

Is Stevie not from just outside Dunamanagh on the back roads to Glenmornan.
Is this the same Stevie who is physio now to Nottm Forest?
Damien's older brother was called Stevie who used to play soccer for Hereford I think amongst other clubs
Don't know what he does now but wouldn't be surprised if he was a physio

Was King Frank not a minor in '73 also - did he not play in the Ulster minor final and then come on as a sub in the senior final 40 minutes later or was that '72...?
Jesus, there was some long hair about in them days....
Were minors back then U30 as most of them look fully grown men compared to todays minors
What sort of player was Sean O'Kane. I've heard his name mentioned a good bit around our neck of the woods
Patsy Kerlin had some tan on him. And look at the white boots pre Gerry Mc Inearney too!

Pat Scullion, Sean Gormley, Joe Cunningham, Martin Lennon, Colm McAleer, Bosco O'Neill, John McGee, Barry Campbell, Pat McCluskey, Michael Quinn, Hugh Mooney, Patsy Kerlin.
Eugene McKenna, Eugene Devlin, Sean O'Kane, Gerry Goodwin, Des McKenna (Captain), Justin O'Doherty, Kieran Currie, Tony Marlow, Seamus Coyne.
Thats hardly Bosco O Neill who played for Clonoe in 91 county final? Actually scored the goal that day if memory serves me right.
Bosco got the goal that day is right. He was carrying a bit of timber and had a bad knee at that stage but was still able to sneak in for his goal.
Barbers must have been very expensive back in the day - so many men had such long hair.

Don't see why anybody would suggest Cavanagh at wing forward though. He would be a cert in midfield.
No he wouldnt.
McKenna and Donaghy were much better fielders of a ball in midfield.
In fairness Cavanagh could play any position from midfield onwards. Class act.
That's why I had him at 12,more versatile than Plunkett.

Funny, I did a similar exercise in 2009 on the board and wasn't a million miles away from what you selected. Ricey got in by a hair and 4-15 were exactly the same by position but I went for Cricko as opposed to Cormac or McGarvey at 3 and Skelton instead of Finbar.

Since when has the definition of the best midfielder been the person who is better at catching a ball? Cavanagh was a better midfielder than both.
McKenna,Donaghy and Cavanagh in my opinion have been the 3 best midfielders I have seen playing for Tyrone. Both Eugene and Plunkett were better fielders and could also play a bit too, they weren't just one trick ponies.Cavanagh's biggest strength is his running at defenders which he could do from no.12 as well.
If I had to pick one between Donaghy and Cavanagh(which I didn't have to) I would pick Sean but I put him at wing forward.Simple really.
Anyway keep your hair on,it's not like we're going to send this team out to play a game!!

Whilst Cavanagh is undoubtedly a modern day great, both McKenna and Donaghy were exceptional footballers who are indeed worthy of their place on any all time Tyrone 15. Both of these men would have excelled in the modern day game with their natural ability and athleticism. Remember these men played when training more than twice a week was deemed extreme, nutrition was a funny word and S&C was unheard of. To me Donaghy was better than Cavanagh at midfield but Sean is a more rounded and overall better player as he has much more versatility in his game. McKenna was a great who played with a very elegant style but was hard with it and has 3 all stars at Midfield, CHF and FF to show for it.

Hard to argue with that, very strong team. Only quibble would be keeper. Big Finbar had a real presence but he was a disaster with the ball in his hands. You just knew it could go anywhere. Kickouts were decent for length but direction was unpredictable to say the least. If you're naming the team in a couple of years Morgan would be the easy choice for No. 1.

How can you not include Damian O'Hagan. One of Tyrone's finest forwards and one of our first All Stars. John Lynch could maybe work his way in there too!
Maybe he was too young to see them players
If only we had a good defender like Noel Donnelly. Remember him in 1995 or 96 pushing up from FB to score a goal v Derry

done that in 97 usf, about 10 secs after the throw in.
Yeah he was a great player wasnt it and boy do we need defenders like him now.
Actually if we had to rate our top 6 defenders of all time who would ye pick?
Again I suppose it depends how old you are and who you saw.
Wing backs have become a lot more attack minded in the last 10 years. Even corner backs
Ricey & Block certainly up there,
Jordan
Fay Devlin
Noel McGinn
McGarvey
Seanie McGlaughlin and Ronan McGarrity maybe even Collie Holmes.
Good players but can't see them in best defenders ever
I suppose what I mean is tough tackling REAL defenders and not so well known for attacking prowess.
Fay Devlin. John Lynch. McMenamin. Gormley. Ronan McGarrity. Paul Devlin as well (very underrated).

done that in 97 usf, about 10 secs after the throw in.

Probably the most one-sided game between these two ever, and there have been a few. It's hard to believe that the disorganised rabble, who failed to score a single point from play in that match, had less than two years earlier come within a dodgy pickup of winning the All-Ireland.
Ok it wasn't after 10secs lol, great goal.
Fair aul team there Dell. Not sure about McCabe at wing back though although I was a wee bit young to remember him well enough
I never really forgive him for the peno in 86
Am surprised how many rate McGarrity so highly. Good player alrite but top 6 since the 80s. Dunno lads.
How many games did Cormac actually play at FB?

Is that Paul Maxwell in pic with Fr Trendy and Aidan Skelton? Paul once kicked me in the head (accidentally, I might add) during a soccer match while I was in goals... haven't been the same since :P
That's Paul Maxwell alright.
As regards Darcy
WTF is he doing in a Tyrone changing room?

That's not far away though I'd probably have Ricey in for Fay Devlin. I was a big fan of Fay but Ricey has to be in there for his leadership, toughness and ability to drive forward from deep.
I'd have Ciaran McGarvey ahead of Cormac (RIP) at no 3, nothing to do with games played, rather the job he had to do with the quality of players around him.

was chatting to Paul there and he categorically denies it.......that he ever played soccer ;)
This is a really long shot. But I'm trying to find pictures of all of Micky Hartes winning teams. I can only find ones with the photographers logo on the middle of them. Also dose any one have a picture of Micky Harte when he played for Tyrone?
Sean Daly of "Armagh Harps" corner forward??

Some footage from 87 & 88 when Tyrone played Antrim
Despite coming from my own club, it's the only video I can find of Patsy Kerlin playing for Tyrone.
Was 1988 his last year? Did he play in the Ulster final that year?

Oh to have a Stephen Conway now.
Who remembers this game?

Who was the keeper in this photo and who's that to the right of Ricey? Is it Collie Holmes?
Poor Pascal retired a year too early
Peter Ward - Dromore, other guy looks like colly holmes
The keeper is Peter ward was tyrone keeper in 2002
Interesting little snapshot of Tyrone's season in 2011 when Ricey was losing his starting place & Mickey's fall out with RTE.

I think the strangest thing in that is individual players posing for photos during the warm up ;D When was that phased out?
I've got the 1984 Ulster Final on DVD.
Any chance of a copy of that Over the bar?

Not a chance Fuzz, sure he'll be wearing red shorts!
Not if we beat Monaghan or Kildare in the final.
I always liked this picture too
