Quote from: tiempo on March 13, 2024, 04:11:02 PMSean Cavanagh was on Art and Eugeue's senior team but couldn't make Mickeys U21 squad

I dont recall that at all. He made his senior debut in the championship as a sub V Armagh but as far as i recall he played with the U21s every game as well. He certainly played in the U21 final that year, v Dublin.
The U21s always had first dibs on the players

Cavanagh and Clarke would have been in both u21 and senior panels at the same time even though they may have played Senior first.
Conor Gormley was probably the most blatant example of someone not playing u21 (or minor) before they made their senior debut. He wasn't in the All Ireland winning u21 squad in 2000 and made his senior debut that Autumn before the 2001 u21 panel was finalised. The talk at the time within Carrickmore was that if he hadn't been called up to the seniors in late 00 he wouldn't have been selected for the u21s in 01 but that's pure speculation.

Quote from: Walter Cronc on February 13, 2024, 12:40:28 AMDo Trillick players now go to Omagh? Was there not a history of them going to Enniskillen? Think the Donnelly's n Brennan's went there?

If so is this something Tyrone GAA are pushing. Keeping players within the county? St Pius' doesn't seem to attract loughshore players like it once used to. All seem to go to Holy Trinity now.

Dunno if it that sort of conscious decision at 11 years old. Schools can go through popularity cycles. I know where I live it fluctuates between SPAD and Armagh. Certainly Omagh winning back to back MacRory will have done them no harm in attracting children interested in football.
Someone said it above it is the parents who start the love of the game. But Schools and Clubs are doing fantastic work bringing them on.
Trillick seems to be a case of families having a preference for certain schools. I think the Corry lads on last year's Tyrone minor panel this year went to Enniskillen like their fathers.

Quote from: imtommygunn on February 08, 2024, 02:50:39 PMInvest in a "mesh network". 300 odd quid but you'll extend your network and have no issues with connectivity further out in your house.

I'm piggybacking from a neighbouring house using the TP-Link Deco E4 AC1200 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System from Argos as Fibrus wouldn't install us yet as we're a new build not listed in Project Stratum. It does a great job with less than a 5mb drop in max speed over a fair distance as long as there is a clear line of sight. I can't imagine there would be any issue using them in a house over shorter distances.

There was an attempt at it for a few years in the late 2000s with London included as well. It was heavily seeded based on league position if I recall correctly

Most points in the league; current record 4-7

Pretty much this. I've not heard anything negative about Fibrus in rural areas where they've installed their own lines. The only issues I've heard are in the towns and I'm not sure which network/line they're working off - I don't think it's their own.

Monaghan v Armagh SOLD OUT.

Over 2 weeks until the game.  What is the capacity in Blayney?  I don't remember any National League game being sold out anywhere ever?
Fecking tiny. No idea why they want it played there.
Only place in Monaghan with lights and it was a Saturday night TV selection.
Assumed it was for tv myself but Mayo v Galway is on RTE, unless BBCni has it?
You'd have to think so, otherwise it makes no sense.

Armagh bring a bring a big following to away games also. Cavan played Armagh last year in the McKenna Cup and it was snowing.
Armagh had a huge crowd there.

There was 20k at a Armagh v Tyrone McKenna Cup game when both teams were strong

19,631, this was probably the last big game in Casement on a day that was quite pleasant for January

4 for Tyrone definitely Eoin Bradley, 25 is probably Ryan Mellon or Brian Meenan based on who played and the way Harte named the subs

Castlerahan intermediate champions and Drumlane Junior champions in Cavan.
Were Castlerahan not SFC winners a few years ago?  :o

Did SFC 2 in row in 2018 and 2019. How on earth are they playing Intermediate lol?

hi look at the hurling. Donegal repeatedly putting their senior champs into ulster junior-jokers

Is there not a rule that if you win Ulster outright at Junior or Intermediate that you can't play in that same competition for 5 years?

It used to be 5 years in the hurling but it was changed to 2 after Lisbellaw struggled in Senior for a number of years.

Has anyone experience of satellite broadband. Currently looking at it but the data packages seem quite small. 150Gb max.

Go for Starlink. I have it about 6 months it and just got an email that sub price is being reduced to £75. I had no other options for decent internet.  It's great.

I heard that today and apparently the price of the hardware has dropped to under £500. What speeds are you getting? Would it be reliable enough at peak times and for working from home?
