In our workplace someone has come up with the idea of turning ALL the toilets into gender neutral toilets. If it comes off it'll cost the organisation a clean fortune.
Personally I think its  a load of non-balls

The night before they open have a half dozen pints of stout and a chilli kebab, then "christen" the new bogs first thing.  That should put the weemin off using them.

"FIFA - known for its diplomatic approach to many issues - has sparked a reaction by its decision to Irish-ify Northern Ireland for the World Cup play-off draw."

I hope this was tongue in cheek from the Bel Tel's FB page.

Disappointing, but not unexpected, to see Varadkar parroting the Unionist line.  Didn't see the programme but did they ask him if a 50%+1 vote would be acceptable to keep NI in the UK?  I've always thought that the whole referendum process as laid out in the GFA was where SF and the SDLP had their eye wiped by the Brits.

No way :)

The ILA has kicked in quick ;D

Actually the Switzerland / Suisse one was pretty bad from FIFA I thought.

Happy enough with that draw, gives NI some chance. ROI got the best draw possible and should be fancying their chances.

I think both teams have a good/decent chance of qualifying.

Denmark and away first, what a great draw.

Yeah, thought that first about playing at away first, but we got most of our points away from home Qualifying!

0-0 borefest in Copenhagen followed by a scrappy 1-0 win in Dublin with a deflected goal after 60 mins and then hang on for last half hour having played terribly in both games

Both MONs will be happy.

Some serious damage being done in Meath and Dublin. Loads of trees down and lots of places with no electricity. Fairly howling it outside now

and now this

Sky News‏

Kite Surfers in Dundalk threaten to make complaints about Emergency service personnel for stopping them Kite Surf in Ophelia.

A good slap and a toe in the arse is the way to handle that complaint.  Attention seeking gobshites.

But it's going to stop at the border - no red warning for the north yet.

Despite Barra Best's "best" attempts BBCNI still taking the line that this is all happening far, far away. ;D

I've seen a lot of shite on FB, Twitter etc portraying this as some sort of left wing popular uprising.  If you read into, this it's more of a right wing popular uprising with two sets of conservatives fighting each other.
Yes, it's  vitally important to consider Twitter and Facebook opinions  ::)

This movement for independence runs much deeper than a brexit, right wing led, anti immigrant sentiment.

The ingredients for a movement for greater autonomy/independence should include a distinct culture and language, be a viable economic unit,  have perceived and genuine injustices (present and historical) and importantly have popular sentiment on their side.

Says the man/woman on an internet discussion board. ::)

In the 2015 Catalan Elections the "Together For Yes" coalition got less than 40% of the popular vote. Had Rajoy left well alone this would have gone somewhat under the radar in the rest of the world.  Though they might have more popular support now!

General discussion / Re: NI job losses

Boeing directly employ more than 2,000 people across the water and through their supply chain partners and sub contractors safeguard approx 10,000 other jobs in Britain.  A load of bluster today from May and Fallon.  They won't do a thing to jeopardise those jobs.

There are,but the unionist bloc is overwhelmingly opposed to gay marriage and this is another deterrent to unity.

I'd be fairly certain that a majority of unionists would be pro marriage equality. A healthy majority

Maybe not?  From the same Lucid Talk poll that Owen quotes below, on marraige equality:

If a referendum was held tomorrow which way would you vote (UNIONISTS ONLY)

For:  37.5%
Against: 56.25%
DK: 6.25%

If a referendum was held tomorrow which way would you vote (NATIONALISTS & REPUBLICANS ONLY)

For:  91.4%
Against: 7.00%
DK: 1.6%

Actually, he hadn't made clear that he was referring to a specific vote in parliament on 11th September 2017.

This vote was enhanced by 7 Labour MPs joining the Tories and a considerable number of them abstaining.

Which is why the argument that SF going to Westminster will make a blind bit of difference to Brexit, or anything else important is complete nonsense.

GAA Discussion / Re: Gooch Cooper testimonial dinner
September 13, 2017, 05:27:12 PM
"That will always be the elephant in the room," he said. "Like, the aim of the night wasn't to raise funds for Colm Cooper albeit that people might have different views on that. We wanted to have a GAA celebration because we've seen all these sporting stars in Ireland have these nights."

Does Colm think we're feckin stupid?

"We're saying, 'Well our GAA people are very much to the forefront of every community so why shouldn't we be doing if for our own people?' - so that's where it's kind of breaking ground a little bit. And obviously the charities were very much to the fore of it as well.

Nearly forgot there Colm!
