In Offaly, Rhode and Ferbane face off in the senior A decider.
Ballycumber and Bracknagh face each other in the senior B decider.
While Shannonbridge face the winner of St Rynagh's and Clonbullogue in the intermediate decider.
Ballymore are the Kildare Junior Champs. Should go well.
Intermediate is between Leixlip & Monasterevin - neither are particularly strong, Leixlip will edge it but do nothing in Leinster.
Senior in Kildare is the big 4, Athy, Celbridge, Moorefield and Sarsfields. Celbridge for me.
Surprised to see a town of Leixlip's size being Inter???

There's two clubs in Leixlip, Confey are or were in senior of late.
Leixlip were relegated to Senior last year. Confey are indeed senior.
It does however have large immigrant population from Dublin who don't integrate with the locals, keeping themselves largely to their middle calls ghettos.
Leixlip in the other sports department has Leixlip Utd (30+ teams) Barnhall Rugby (20+teams), Leixlip Celtics Basketball(20+teams) and one of the largest athletic clubs in the country La Cheile. Plus of the best canoeing clubs, MMA, boxing etc all within a 5 mile radius.
Big town but culturally and sportingly diverse. Large West of Ireland population traditionally drove GAA in the town but they are all getting old now...

I forgot about Confey a club started by mainly Connacht men.
I wonder could ye persuade GAA Top brass that the GAA needs a strong Leixlip? ::)
Fr. Manning Gaels won Intermediate in Longford last Sunday, with Kenagh winning the Junior championship. In previous years, the runners-up in Intermediate had represented Longford in Junior, but Kenagh are a solely Junior club so go through instead.
Senior final next Sunday between Killoe and Slashers with Killoe strongly favoured.

Confey is also Michael Fitzsimons original club. He owes his successful career to the hard work of dedicated Kildare volunteers.

A Dub buying a starter home in Leixlip is the very same as, say, Lucan.
There would be a very small percentage who are mad into GAA and would straight away head up to the GAA club, go the adult team matches, etc.
So 95% wouldn't cross the door of the GAA club until the kids come along. Then most would bring their kids (at least a few times!) to the local soccer or GAA club or both.

Dublin quarter-finals on Oct 12/13:
Castleknock v Thomas Davis
- CK with CKK expected to win this one. But I'd expect whoever comes through to bow out at the semi final stage.
Kilmacud v Clontarf
- While Jack Flash is with the underdogs, Crokes should win handy. Overall favourites for the title.
Ballyboden v NaFianna
- Tie of the round. NaF knocked out star studded Ballymun, but Boden have absolutely stormed the league this year (14 wins and a draw from 15 games), so are marginal favourites. Expected to be tight and the winners will be genuine challengers.
St Judes v St Vincents
- Vins favs, but Judes well capable of an upset. Expect Vins to pull through, but I don't expect Vins to win the title.
I think the latter two might be on TV on the Saturday evening.
Portlaoise v Killeshin in the Senior final in Laois. Killeshin's first ever final at Senior, so Portlaoise are hot favourites and should have enough. Not going as well as previous years though, so don't think they'll be contending for a Leinster.
Moorefield v Sarsfields SFC final in Kildare ::)
Moorefield going for three in a row. Between them they have won the last 6.
Neither will do much in Leinster.

Shocking hope all the lads are ok.
No more than a thousand people at the Dublin SFC Q/F double header in Parnell Park. Probably less than 10% of the combined membership of the 4 clubs.

Outside of the Dublin champions, first time winners don't tend to win Leinsters. Usually takes 2/3 county wins for a team to shift their focus.

Dublin quarter-finals:
St Judes 0-11 St Vincents 0-4
Kev Mac and the Culchies prevail! Kev started with 3 wides, but put on a masterful performance after that, he was everywhere, a real leader. Vins were shocking.
Ballyboden 3-15 Na Fianna 1-15 (After extra time)
Great match, the highlights being superb performances from Colm Basquel (3-4) and Conor McHugh (0-6). An utterly appalling second yellow card for McHugh right at the end of normal time was probably the deciding factor. Despite the linesman looking right at it he allowed the ref to make an awful decision (McHugh dragged to the ground by a Boden player who basically lay on him to prevent him taking part in the last Na Fianna attack. Ref turned and saw them both on the ground and gave them both yellows, so McHugh could not play in extra time, which was an enormous loss to Na Fianna).
Kilmacud Crokes 0-16 Clontarf 0-8
Surprisingly, Clontarf led by a point at the break. But 4 minutes into the second half, the ref gave Jack McCaffrey a straight red for a high tackle and that was game over. Another very poor decision, it wasn't remotely a red card offence. Mannion only came on at half time, but still ended as top scorer with 0-4.
Thomas Davis 3-12 Castleknock 1-17
Great win for the Tallaghtmen, Kilkenny got 3 points for Knock, but goals crucial for the Davis win.
Semi-finals:
Ballyboden St Endas v St Judes
- Have to fancy Boden, but can't write off Judes.
Thomas Davis v Kilmacud Crokes
- Should be reasonably straight forward for Crokes, great achievement for Davis to get this far.
Offaly representatives are as follows:
Senior A winners: Ferbane (senior)
Senior B winners: Bracknagh (intermediate)
Intermediate winners: Shannonbridge (junior)
Naas in the Hurling Intermediate.
Ballymore in JFC
Monasterevin in the IFC
Sarsfields/Moorefield drew yesterday in the SFC, replay next Sunday.

Nice summary, Thanks for taking the time.
Can't see anyone but the Dublin champs winning this, but I said that last year and look what happened. Brilliant competition in fairness.
I'd say maybe Ferbane would be a dark horse. That Cian Johnson lad looks an unbelievable talent. Portlaoise were poor by their usual standards in Laois, but they do usually up it when they get into Leinster

Off top of my head, so may be incorrect, the others being:
Moorefield x2
Portlaoise x2
Mullinalaghta
Garrycastle
All were seasoned Leinster campaigners by the time they won. That's why someone like Ferbane won't win it. But maybe they will in a few years time.
I predict semi finals to be Portlaoise v Moorefield/Sarsfields and Dub champs v Garrycastle. Dub champs to win it if it's Crokes or Boden.
I can't see Ferbane winning it, in fact I'd nearly expect seasoned campaigners like Saint Pats to win on Sunday. However the last time Ferbane won the county after a significant fallow period (15 years) they won the Leinster at the first time of asking. Just saying :)
St Rynaghs travel to Portlaoise in two weeks to take on Rathdowney/Errill. R/E intend a big push for a win in Leinster club. Hasn't happened for a Laois team in a while although they have come close. They have a good mix of current county players, King, Purcell, Kavanagh, Kelly, Killeen as well as old campaigners like Joe Fitz, John Purcell and Brian Campion
Three games in the senior football this weekend:
Ferbane (OY) v St Patricks (WW)
Eire Óg (CW) v Castletown (WX)
Garrycastle (WH) v Killoe Emmet Og (LD)
I'll go for all home wins here.
In the intermediate:
Bracknagh (OY) v Mattock Rangers (LH)
Caulry (WH) v Dunlavin (WW)
Carlow v Fr Manning Gaels (LD)
I note that the Carlow IFC final is on Friday night, with the winners playing in Leinster on Sunday afternoon. I'll go for wins for Bracknagh, Caulry and Fr Manning Gaels here.
In the Junior:
Ballinacargy (WH) v An Tochar (WW)
Shannonbridge (OY) v Fenagh (CW)
Roche Emmets GFC (LH) v Castletown Gaels (LS)
I won't pretend to have any inclination about how these will go. I imagine Shannonbridge would be strong being intermediate champions in Offaly.
I'd be reluctant to give Ferbane the nod after seeing AZ's post.
Bracknagh should win.
Kevin Corrigan (local journalist) reckoned that Shannonbridge were better than the 3 point winning margin suggested last Saturday in today's Tribune. He reckons that they and Bracknagh will go far. That being said, they've a 7 day turnaround, while Bracknagh and Ferbane have 2 weeks. Not sure of the turnarounds for the respective opponents. I reckon that 2/3 will win, most likely the two teams that don the blue and gold. That being said, it'd be better again if our clubs won 3/3.
Anyone have any thoughts or know anything about any of the opponents of our 3 representatives?
Wooly has a very good interview with Cian Johnson of Ferbane on his podcast. Cian is gas!
Some will probably moan about his self confidence, but he's a breath of fresh air and definitely makes me want to see him playing!
'There's no point me chasing back and making tackles back up the field, because I'm no good at it. Let the other lads do the donkey work, get the ball to me and i'll get the scores' 😄
In his last 3 club championship matches, he hasn't missed a shot. Something like 2-16 from 18 shots.

St. Pat's put up a good display for the first half last year against Rhode and that was after having played a county final replay the night before with attendant celebrations. Still reckon Ferbane should get by them in O'Connor Park though.
Kenagh beat Berlin 3-15 to 3-5 in the junior championship. Angela Merkel unavailable for comment.
Bracknagh beaten by 3. Shannonbridge won by 1.
Ferbane beaten by 2 points.
Hard luck AZ.
Garrycastle 0-15 Killoe 0-6.
Sarsfields are Kildare SF Champs.
Ratoath won their first Meath SFC. Beat Summerhill 3-15 to 2-13. They have Bryan McMahon and the two Wallace's so they might prove a handful for Leinster opposition.
If I'm not mistaken Ratoath play the winners of Garrycastle and St Patrick's.

Cheers, the Leinster website wasn't clear.
Ratoath have Conor McGill as well so there's a good amount of county experience in there as well as a few U-20 county lads. But I'm still doubtful if Meath's dismal record in club football improve.

Ferbane beaten by 2 points.
It'll stand to them, no doubt. Wasn't at it, but was sporadically listening on the wireless. Pats just seemed to have a surge. Senior in Offaly should be very interesting next year. Ferbane, Rhode, Tullamore, Edenderry and Clara all can probably win it on their day. Then there's Shamrocks who are probably the best equipped of the bottom 3, and were only narrowly pipped by Ferbane in the QF. Bracknagh will hope for survival in their first year up. If that wish were to come through, it'd likely be at Cappincur's expense. Then there's the groups and how they'll be split.
So Ferbane and Rhode will be in different groups, as will Clara and Edenderry, Bracknagh and Tullamore, and Cappincur and Shamrocks.
It's a pity that Ferbane lost out. Bracknagh too, although I thought that they were heavy enough favourites for their game. Peter Cunningham is going on tour with the army, so he might miss the start of the league, as well as a fair chunk of the training. Hopefully Shannonbridge can go far. We'd 2 teams in Leinster finals last year, now we've only one remaining.
Did you hear if many more Ferbane lads were called in to the OY panel, AZ? Apart from the obvious ones of Maher and Johnson. Leon Fox and Stephen Wren perhaps?
It's looking like the county panel will be in a better place come next year anyway. Hopefully we can get some of last years u20s in, because they were highly rated. Even some of this year's, which are Johnson and Farrell pretty much. Not sure if Nathan Poland of Pullough would be at their level yet, I think he was on and off the u20s team a bit last year. One advantage, for want of a better phrase is that two of our 3 representatives in Leinster are out early, unlike last year, where Shamrocks and Brigid's were in it until December, Brigid's provided 2 players in Cian Donohue and Dan Molloy, while Shamrocks provided Patrick Dunican and Nigel Dunne, until he walked. Shannonbridge have only one panelist from last year (Barry Rohan), although there could be more yet, the likes of Darragh Corbett or Ronan McEvoy spring to mind.
Looking forward to the O'Byrne cup already.
Good thing I didn't put my money where my mouth is. :-X
Dunlavin were impressive against Caulry, although it's hard to judge how far they'll go as Caulry were very poor on the day, definitely didn't play as well as they can. Similarly for Garrycastle against Killoe, the castle looked impressive albeit against poor opposition. I think Killoe only managed 2 or 3 points from play.
It'll definitely be another step up for Garrycastle against Ratoath the next day out, by all accounts it sounded like they were well on top against Summerhill. I saw them playing against Athlone in the Intermediate a few years ago and they were very good then too. The Wallaces and McMahon are difficult to stop when they get going.

Some interesting fixtures there. I imagine Portlaoise will be too strong for St Patricks.
Eire Og and Sarsfields could be a tight one, I'll go for a draw in this one.
Garrycastle and Ratoath is another tight one, Garrycastle have some experience, but Ratoath have some nice players too. I'll go for a narrow win for the Westmeath men.
Finally, I'd imagine Ballyboden should ease past Newtown Blues.

Sarsfields have lost two of their best players since the county final. Portlaoise really should be coming through that side of the draw. Although I'm not sure they are a strong as they've been in the past.
It's been a long time since the Meath champions have done anything in Leinster. Ratoath do look good on paper. Garrycastle will win marginally I think.
Kilkenny senior football champions Mullinavat beat Dublin intermediate champions Ballyboughal 3-11 to 2-11 in the Leinster championship. What odds would you have got on that shock win?

I'd say the same odds it was for the Carlow champions beating Cuala last week! Hefty
Another penalty shoot out I see :o

Always been plenty of good footballers in Kilkenny
The county board just have allowed the county teams fade away

Either Éire Óg have come on in leaps and bounds since last year or Sarsfields must have been very poor.

Mullinavat have reached the Leinster IFC final after defeating Rosenallis of Laois 2-10 to 1-7 yesterday. They now face Mattock Rangers of Louth in the provincial final, scheduled for 7th December.
That's a great story. They beat Ballyboughal the Dublin IFC champs also.
Are they wearing the KK jerseys because of a colour clash or is there another reason? (Must be a nice bonus for them to wear that jersey)

Beating the Dub intermediate champs isn't as much of a shock (though I'm sure the Dub team is still reeling from it) due to the nature of the Dub championship at that level, but winning their last game to get to the final against a true intermediate level team is something else... Kilkenny could no doubt compete better at football but that's their business!

Commiserations to Mullinavat on losing out in the Leinster club IFC final, defeated by Louth's Mattock Rangers whom won 1-14 to 0-11 after a strong second half showing. Didn't disgrace themselves by any means from the reports of the game I've read.
P.S. Hound, AFAIK they wore the KK county jersies indeed because of a colour clash.
True, they beat Dublin champs along the way so they have a decent team. Good footballers in KK but they love the small ball!

They beat the 34th best team in the Dublin championship, their best result was the semifinal

The wind in horrendous
No score for 10 mins, then 3 mighty scores in 90 seconds
Have not got something to wipe the camera? Terrible
When is a black card a yellow card
Low scoring in the Leinster senior final at half time but the poor weather conditions not helping. Eire Og 0-3 Ballyboden 0-3.
4 mins to play Éire Óg 0-6 Ballyboden 0-5.
Deserved win for Ballyboden
FT Éire Óg 0-6 Ballyboden 0-8. Late late rally won it for the Dublin champions, heartbreak for the Carlow champions who died with their boots on.
Eire Óg will regret them bad shot selections when had their dominant period in middle of 2nd half. When down 5-6 Boden's next 2 points were quality in such wet & heavy conditions.
Thought the Carlow boys had it harder to get ref decisions especially in 1st half.
Football a funny old game. Ballyboden one point behind and no score for 18 mins and then score 0-3 in the final 3 mins of the game to win.

Superior S&C will do that in the month of December
You just keep the power on to the final whistle

Thought the ref was harsh on Eire Og also
Rainbow was a selector with Sarsfields, players didn't want him as manager....what do players know eh!!!
Nice one Anthony!!!
