Are the Dubs any good this year?
Offaly Meath would be an entertaining semi.

See this confuses it a bit. Unless TG4 has a crystal ball as Westmeath can still leap frog Down if they win next week. Strangely TG4 already have Armagh leapfrogging Donegal as well.

12 pts will be needed for promotion. High likelihood Sligo dont get past 6pts

Hard one to take for the Niners. There was a sense of inevitability that the Chiefs would wear them down and Mahomes experience would come through. The loss of Greenlaw was huge also. Thought Purdy did ok, but the Chiefs rushed him at the right times, that 3rd down at the end of the OT drive where he got rushed nothing he could do. Good defensive game, lads coming. Back and go again next year.

Quote from: Armagh18 on November 29, 2023, 08:02:32 PMOnana had few good games there but back to his flaky self tonight. Europa league would be some hindrance to the league with the amount of injuries but should be aiming to win kt

Did he really have good games or just what is expected from a keeper? DeGea has been a big loss this year, lots of soft goals let in. Don't see the benifit of having a keeper that can play it out but will let you down regularly. ETH's signings have been very poor outside Martinez and jury still out on Rasmus.

Yanks starting to show some life. Lowry struggling fr consistency. Spieth and Thomas putting some pressure on, and the last match tightening up. If US can pick up 2 points or 2.5 pts here it could change the way the afternoon goes.

Yeah it's one thing saving up the deposit for a house never mind what comes along with it once you do get the house.

It's a tough choice tbrick18 I'd maybe be leaning towards the 2 year as there may be some kind of government intervention. Maybe Labour will promise to do something in the next general election.

I've instructed my broker to try to lock in the 2yr fixed rate he quoted me for last week. If it's still available I'll be jumping from 1.62% to 4.9%. That's just over 3 times the interest rate.
I see some calls to raise the BOE base rate to 5% tomorrow. I'm just hoping I can still get the 4.9.

The vast majority of us, I think, are on fixed incomes. With the cost of living rises and mortgage increases, how are people meant to survive?
Outgoings in my house on things like groceries, have more than doubled in a year. This is going to be another sizeable chunk going out.

The only people the increased interest rate serve are those 5% really high earners.
The rest of us suffer.

How are the interest rate hikes serving the high earners?

McDonagh Cup should be the McDonagh Cup and that's it. Finish it later, don't condense it and don't be putting them in to play in the McCarthy Cup. Don't be taking the good out of the Competition.

Should be just the winners go through and they play the 3rd team in Leinster. Hard for Offaly or any team to pick themselves up after loosing the Joe Mac final and throw them in against a battle hardened Munster team. But there shroud be a route in for the winners and give teams a stepping stone up. They have to try grow the game rather than keeping in a closed club for a few teams.

Apparently subs didn't get medals then? Maybe that was subs not listed but McCarthy always said Walsh should have two.

21 medals were given back then, no additional. Some county boards made replicas or other awards for the rest of the Squad but 21 only got them. Dennis Walsh did play in the Munster championship but I thin got injured and never got back into the football team.

First seen Teddy in the '86 U21 AI final, monster of a jump. Won 3 U21 AI's. Brilliant player

The list is short for the number of players with both football and hurling regardless of the year.

Kildare and Meath with their populations and strong economies and tradition in Meath's case ought to be at least as good regularly as Galway and Mayowestros.
Donegal a scattered mountain County with none of the advantages of Leinster Counties haven't done too badly last 10 or 12 years.
Laois, Offaly and Westmeath ought to be at least at Ros/Monaghan level.

Does the lack of any possibility of a Provincial title lead to hopelessness leading to lack of interested?

For counties with small populations it will always go in cycles, Westmeath have competed well in Div 1 regularly over the past 10 years. Laois competed well in the mid 2000's.
Offaly have suffered from lack of proper structure since 2000, they are working to make an impact in both Football and Hurling with underage success in the last few years. In my lifetime I've been lucky enough to see Offaly win Football and hurling All Ireland as well as multiple underage all irelands at both grades. I've always felt there are only two teams in Leinster that don't fear Dublin and that's Meath and Offaly, Dublin will eventually fall to one of them.

Bang Bang Bang and Lowry leads!
Playing very well and could have had another birdie or two on the front.
