Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

oneshot

Enda Rowland didn't walk away from Laois for nothing id say things not great in Laois camp.

SpeculativeEffort

Zero fight from Laois today. Hard to believe. With relegation to Division 3 a distinct possibility, I don't care what is going on in the Laois camp, there should be more fight than what we saw today.

Absolutely rudderless and I don't like being critical. I know what players give. But why give 4-5 nights a week and then a meek, capitulation like that?!

bluespower

It sounded like Laois were the team with the virus. Something wrong if you can't get up for game knowing relegation is staring you in the face and would be a disaster for Laois.

Milltown Row2

Antrim to be fair clicked but Laois in that first half looked like they were just going through the motions the small buck that started running at Antrim in the second half at least brought the fight to Antrim and caused them some concern.

Beating Dublin will be a hard one after that show today, depends were Dublin are though, I'd hope from an Antrim perspective they come at it with intent
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

The both of them could go down. Tyrone are gone already.

So chances are you mightn't play the next year...if yous go down.

back vein cut of Tommy agin I see. Grate lads. Best carla, go from dere.

It is not ideal when players like Rowland, O'Connell and others opt out during the season. But sometimes it is not reflective of the set up at all. Fellas have other things going on in their lives too, beyond hurling. We have to back the management team. Corcoran and Fitzgerald did all the hard work, for which Brennan got the credit in 2019. Ask any player.
We can't get too high when they win or too low when they lose. It was a poor performance but that happens. The most important game is Carlow now and hopefully there will be some kick in our group for that one.

Laois Rising

Results like yesterday can happen. For whatever reason, Laois were not to the pitch of the game at all in the first half. They played like a team very low on match sharpness-speed of thought and play were both well off Antrim and some of the basics were sadly lacking. Antrim picked off far too many easy scores against a Laois team playing with real intensity. We did improve in the middle part of the game but in fairness to Antrim goalkeeper pulled off some great saves that stifled any chance of a comeback.

The important thing now is to respond to today's loss by giving a performance against Carlow. We beat Carlow in a league final twelve months ago playing a very decent brand of hurling. We need to produce similar performances in our final two games. Beat Carlow next day out and hope for either an unexpected win over Dublin or a shock win for Westmeath against Carlow to stay up. Odds are against us staying up but we are basically playing knockout championship type hurling over the next two days to stay in the division. Hopefully our players can respond to the challenge.

Verbal

Disappointing. Very poor performance.

Agree with the poster above.
Next Spring is going to be awful , playing at a terrible standard.

However, in the immediate term, we can get over Carlow, put in a decent spirited performance against Dublin, and build for the Joe McD.

The post mortem of this league campaign can wait for next Winter.
We aren't going to get a better management core than Tommy & Corcoran.
It could be added to im sure, but they are very shrewd operators.
Nothing to be gained from our own cutting the backs off our own.

SpeculativeEffort

I have seen or heard no 'cutting the back off' anyone to be honest. Supporters are right to be annoyed. If we went to Belfast and went down fighting then people would be ok. We rolled over to Offaly in Portlaoise too.

The above poster is talking about almost accepting relegation and regroup in Division 5Z or whatever other postcode Division we land in. Its not over. Two games and two wins we survive. 1 vs carlow. 1 vs Dublin with nothing to play for.

Why can't we dig it out?

Division 3 is hurling oblivion.

Saturday 15 March

Allianz HL Division 1B
Laois v Carlow, Laois Hire O'Moore Park, 1.45pm

Allianz FL Division 3
Laois v Clare,  Laois Hire O'Moore Park, 6pm

Why is hurling not immediately before football or vice versa ?
Are we expected to buy separate tickets for each game ?

The Boy Wonder

Just checked Laois GAA Twitter :
**Please note: tickets for both games must be purchased separately as it is not a double header.**

marty34

Is that not a bit mad?

Could they not a run it as a double header to get the crowd in?

Blueforever

It's to make more money supporters are just a commodity
