Read the quote below in a report this morning.  Thought it was pretty good. ;D

There was a time when Liverpool could grind their way to titles. They were brilliant, of course, but they were also clever, disciplined and happy to waste time and bore neutrals with endless back passes if it meant three points. But if Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool ever win the title it is unlikely that anyone will be able to make similar criticisms. They are as clever and disciplined as a labrador chasing a cat around a sausage factory; they are an explosion of sound and vision, a great big force of destruction. They might not win the title, but you'll never call them boring.

Tiernan McCann to get filled before the throw in, what comes around goes around!!

f**k me is this the kind of shite that's gonna be on this thread now   for a fortnight? that's the kind of comments that make you wonder how some morons manage to turn their conputers on.

I have no doubt McCann will come in for some rough treatment,  the same he does every game.  I'm equally confident that no Slaugneil player will risk a red card pre throwin in a televised game with neutral umpires.

Why is it mental?

Mickey is a deeply spiritual person. I would imagine a lot of the people who continually bash Harte for his faith and stubbornness would come nowhere near having the sort of positive effect he has had on many people's live, including some very troubled and grieving souls.

People are entitled to their opinions but I think some of the cheap character attacks on Harte here give you an insight into the kind of person making them.

Not a character attack.  I absolutely respect his deep faith and he has went through things that I can't even imagine and he says himself his faith keeps him going.

However, I don't think it's appropriate to expect others to replicate that in his position.

To be fair he really should have bought a proper left back!

I would say he looked, must not have seen anyone he fancied

Or more to the point there were ones he fancied who did not fancy him?

I think he wanted Hector but didn't think he was worth the money Cologne were looking.  Fair enough.  Be interesting to see where Gomez features when fully fit. He was very good at lb last year.

Let's discuss the bit that jumped out at me.

Before championship matches this year they recite the rosary. Mickey leads the 1st, 3rd and 5th and the players do the 2nd and 4th and Mickey responds on his own.

Am I wrong thinking this is a bit sorta mad?

That is completely nuts. Just shows how much power Harte has and how much the players have been brainwashed into the cult of Micky.

That is mental.

Good 3 points. Fantastic going forward but shite at the back.

1 St goal was just one of those things.  Should have been in row ź. Couthinho playing as well as anyone at the minute. Important win given the city and arsenal results.

Keeper not inspiring confidence.

No love for Lucas here! I thought he was excellent bar the pen which I thought was soft anyway.  Strong in the tackle, organised things and brought the ball out really well from the back. You have to rremember he's playing out of position.

Moreno actually played ok as well albeit his direct opponent was poor. His pace is exceptional if he could get his positional play sorted.

Anyway in the hat with 11 changes. Can't be bad.

That wasn't the only time that happened. It was kamikaze at times, he is another that is prone to those stupid mental errors. And it's hard to coach intelligence.

Lol. Paolo Maldini he ain't but I thought he was ok last night.  I have no doubt that his remit from Klopp is to bomb on but commonsense would say that you have to change your mindset at the 87 minute mark.  Some players seem unable to do this though.

Reminds me of a player in our club. We have a lightening corner forward and the message from the manager to our half backs was as soon as you get the ball but a long diagonal into space in front of him.  So we were a point up, in injury time and were killing the game passing back and forth across the pitch.  Cue our no 7 getting the ball and bang, he tried the same ball he'd been told to all day.  Ball straight over sideline and they ended up working the equaliser from it.  ::)

But that's the problem. Most of the time he is very solid, but there is always a 'but'. And that but normally leads either to a goal, or a heart stopping moment near the end of a game. I'd say he has given away, per minute on the field, the most free kicks 30 yards out on the left or right of the box. Prime crossing zone against a team that struggles to defend set pieces. It's mental, literally, as in it's a stupid mental error all the time with him. If they had been pegged back to 2-2 last night, I'd have sold him in January!

I like him, I like his effort, I like his honesty, I like his versatility, but I hate stupidity in players. Intelligence can go a long way, and he lacks that sort of basic intelligence that says, 'we're in control here, don't lunge in and give away a free'.

fair points AZ. Only thing I would say is that part of the reason he gives away so many late frees is because he's the player who reads the game best or puts that extra effort in to be the man in the right place to challenge the player in possession. How many late attacks does he break up fairly? There is s reason why he's the club's longest serving player and has played under 5? managers and is not because of lack of options to move on.

Has a bit of the pre season feel to it.  Lucas has been very solid, the ultimate pro. Sturridge proving what he brings to the table in terms of strikers instinct.  But disjointed in midfield, grujic been out of the game and a few of the youngsters trying things that aren't coming off.

Sturridge should have been sold in the summer. Bad attitude and doesn't fit in with the way he wants to play. Will be roaded in January I think...

Don't know that I would agree with that.  To be fair to sturridge I don't think you can fault his temperament or commitment a la Mario. Just a different type of player that does not suit the system. He is a confidence player and his injuries have ruined any chance of getting a run.

There are not that many strikers that would work in klopps system.  You have to be a hard worker but also skilful and able to play instant through balls. Suarez   would be the ultimate.  Would Ronaldo fit in given his work rate?

Would we nice if Southampton and Man United did us a favour against our title rivals today...

So far so good

Could be two costly dropped points on Monday night. Early goal and Jose hasn't a clue. Special my arse

Fully fit squad to choose from this weekend.
The United game if nothing else will hopefully prove to be good practise for the WBA game.
They'll adopt similar tactics, albeit with cheaper players and directed by a man in a silly baseball cap  ;)

Don't kid yourself. West Brom will show a hell of a lot more ambition going forward
