General discussion / Re: New U.S. Citizen
September 08, 2009, 02:50:07 PM
eejits, the requirement for a passport is to have US citizenship, the requirements to become a citizen are very onerous...
If you get a green card, you must then pay tax in the US for 5 years and avoid conviction for a crime. You must be resident in the US for a certain portion of that time. If you qualify through marriage then you get a green card after they interview you to make sure its not a fake marriage and then citizenship after 3 years, assuming you're still married.
there are a number of exceptions for "people of extraordinary ability"

MIA paper planes
Meja- Its all about the money
Dire Straits- The man's too strong
"I have legalised robbery
Called it a belief
I have run with the money
And hid like a theif
I have re-written history
With my armies and my crooks
Invented memories
I did burn all the books"

unreal that 2 bad drives did so much damage to his entire tournament. Stricker was pretty choked up with winning, he's in some form going in to this, but don't think he has the nerve for the big occasion. Cant believe vijay didnt make the last 70, should be an interesting bmw tournament

TO- 5 years of paid taxes after you get a green card not by marriage is standard and painful

Work Visa- unless you're classified as a person of outstanding ability (like world renowned expert) you'll have to wait until April for the H1-B and even then you'll only get in if the job is promised you now and held til then and they cant fill it with an American

Also GAWA- do not attempt this on your own, take it on the chin and pay a lawyer- if you're stuck I can recommend a few, if you screw up the application form and you do it yourself you are assumed to have lied to gain entry and may face a ban on entering the US until it is resolved...

GAWA
You should be applying for your green card right now- you don't have to be there for it, also as soon as you get it, apply for citizenship. Its the only way they have no right to refuse you entry

Oh and one other thing- if there is any way that you can do it legally i would really urge you to do so. it is getting harder and harder to stay here illegally and get work, you cant open a bank account, hire / buy a car
It is doable, but much, much, much tougher than it used to be

What I dont understand though, these ones who say that no plane crashed at the pentagon (I agree, missile imo) and united 93 didnt crash where we are told never tell us what happened the passengers on those planes?

They're at area 51 all working together to hush up anyone who sees a UFO, but some of them do work evenings on grassy knolls
