Quote from: gallsman on October 12, 2024, 05:32:44 PMCaught the last 10k of the Lombardi's today. Just the 48km solo attack from Pogacar this week to destroy Evnepoel by over 3 mins. Looked like he could have done it all over again when he crossed they line.

Am convinced he'd have won both Olympic races and the Vuelta if he'd gone for them. Utterly unstoppable.

It's amazing. So much better than everyone else and still only a young fella

When Pog attacked Remco didn't even raise the revs. Thought he would at least try to go with him.

Poor Chris Hoy. Seemingly one of the fittest 48 year olds about.

How was the cycling year for everybody?

Not a great year for me this year,
 4200km

I dont think I did one sportive which in previous years I did a few. Is there any you all would particularly recommend for 2025?

Any big trips or events yez have planned for 2025?

Just hit 6,000m (9,656km) for the year, more than previous couple of years (getting hit by cars will impede u ok).

Heading to Gran Canaria mid-January for 7th or 8th winter trip to the various Canary islands. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. There's talk in our club of Majorca312 in 2026 (denied in 2020 by Covid). Will likely give that another try.

A few of the lads/lasses at home did that 312. They loved it.
   Big expense though

Have booked Majora for 6th April for 5 nights, haven't been before cycling but a few of the lads i'm going with have so they will know the craic (4 of us so far).
Have also booked a week in Alps (Briancon) for end of June to cycle the Alp d'Huez, Telegraph, Galibier etc etc. Just back on the bike there after a few months off (another hip replacement) and it was tough going. Winter riding is a total bollix.
Let me know how you get on in Gran Canaria...
I can swim a little but i can't fly an inch

Eurosport's coverage disappearing into TNT's package. Robbing hoors. For a relatively niche sport can't see it being a great success.

There is a very cheap ebike for someone looking to commute or runaround. £470 delivered.

Olly

I passed two cyclists today on a road and they took up the whole country road, one on one side and one on the other. There was no need for it so I drove right through the middle of them.

As u may have guessed from my Strava it did not got well! Was ill the week before we went, after my first very moderate spin on the 1st day there (did have booze night b4 tbf, but whatever bug i had came back with a vengeance) I was in bed for a few days, ate nothing, a truely horrible few days. Recovered a bit to attempt a couple of moderate spins later in the week, but had to abort a climby spin. Being sick on a holiday is not a nice experience, hopefully my 1st & last.
