Have a wedding to go to in Malta next June. Anyone been?
The bror-in-law reckons it is a great spot. His missus did a year there when doing her medical degree.

Maltas pretty good, don't expect too much from the beaches mind it's basically built on a rock you step into the water and you're up to your neck.

It's very small about the size of County Monaghan so there's not that much exploring to be done but the city itself, Valetta is lively with plenty of everything you will need bars, restaurants, casino and nightlife. Public transport is ridiculously cheap so no need for a car.

The weather will be top notch I'd say by that time, not too hot..

Northern italy around the alpine lakes is worth a visit. Lovely scenery, good food and reasonable prices. Cannobio for example but there are loads of options.

German and Austrian spa hotels are worth looking into as well.

Have booked 5 days in Stockholm for half term in February. Has anyone been? Any recommendations?

Been twice. June shouldn't be too bad, but during August the temperatues can be unbearable - low 40s when I was there.

I'm reading that June should be zero rainfall with temperatures between 25-30C so perfect for us as we have small children. Staying here.

Any recommendations on good holiday insurance for family holiday. I don't necessarily mean the cheapest. I mean the best company to deal with if there are issues.

Where are you going? Have always used Post Office.

Anyone have ever been to Cape Verde?

Right lads and lassies, it's that post Christmas blues, let's plan the Summer Holidays time again. We're a family of 4, boy aged 8 and girl aged 2 in May. Looking to align with school holidays, so basically the first 2 weeks of July.

Looking for something sunny, after a nice holiday in Devon last year we're hoping to go back to Europe this year, which will obviously be the little girl's first time.

Ideally looking for a 2 bedroom apartment/chalet with living space. We've been to Portugal several times, and that's back in the running again, but the little lad would prefer somewhere else I think, so we are also trying to see if there's anything in Spain, France or Italy (around the lakes). I don't want it to be unbearably hot, especially for the little one, and ideally there would be activities for the little lad. Mam and Dad are happy if the kids are happy, and there's a nice swim and food and drink.

Any ideas or experiences? GAABoard has never steered me wrong before, in this area at least :)

Here you go AZ. When the kids were younger we loved it- Camping le Ruisseau, Biarritz.
Biarritz airport only minutes away. Lovely city, plenty to do not too hot and only a train ride away from San Sebastien for a day trip

This would interest me Declan.

What time of year did you go? Did you drive or use public transport?

How was the use of lingo in the area? Can you get by on English or broken French needed?

Thanks

Declan

Went twice Bingo mid summer July/August. Flew to Biarritz with Ryanair and first time for two weeks hired a car from airport. We moved around a bit with the car, lovely drives into the Pyrenees and as I said you can go to San Sebastian by train - a 30 minute drive to nearer the border and then onto a local train.
There is a shuttle bus from that campsite to the nearest town and then a main bus to Biarritz which we used the second time we went for a week only. so if you just wanted to stay close to the campsite its doable without a car.

Language was OK  - I always try and use my holiday francais but the touristy spots are all OK with English

Sound, thanks. Reviews on Trip advisor seem positive.

One more - was the camp itself very busy. Had looked at a couple in Italy and was off putting on reviews how crowded it was with no space at pools and queues for everything and anything.

Hard to beat the Keycamp/ Eurocamp. Did Argeles sur mer the past 2 years, 20km from Perpignan airport. Stayed in a small campsite directly across the road from a much bigger one (same owners), so got the best of both worlds with quietness/ use of facilities & entertainment. Had a car both years, but very doable without one. Loads of Irish about.

It was busy OK but not that you'd be annoyed by it  Having said that it was very rare where we'd spend the day by the pool so we never found it that crowded when we were there
