Good old mickey continuing with the hypocrisy. Didnt let tyrone go on warm weather training camps for years and only a few years ago he backs a call to have them banned. Takes over Derry and hes off to a warm weather training camp for one week. Couldnt make it up.

Looks like a Derry county board decision to go than Harte. According to the Irish Examiner they are flying out a week after the league final.

Cork footballers are just back after a week away and Kerry are flying out March 26th for four days and returning the day before the league final.

The rules are there for everyone and I'm sure all top managers would be aware of them. They are there to protect youngsters in the long term. So Donegal/jim didnt know he wasn't available to play this year! I know he has been out of game for long time but surely minor/club/u21 bosses would have been able to tell him. If he was aware but still played him then you have to take the consequences. I'm sure there has been a few other youngsters teams may have liked to play over the years. Particularly the weaker counties . Simple question for journalists to ask Jim - were you aware of rule?

Suppose every other team that beat you every other year were being protected too? 1 win in Ulster and you would swear your one of the top teams. If Glen wanted to hammer you, they would have. All we needed to do was beat you and move onto the next round, simple as that. Them lads are building for bigger challenges. Glen have had 2 goes at 'hammering' Cargin now and it hasn't materialised yet. Yesterday they couldn't manage it playing two thirds of the game with an extra man and Cargin unjustly having their best forward who'd started well sent off.  You may well hammer the rest of the Derry club teams, but maybe your much lauded club scene isn't just as good as you think it is.

Glen players lying around holding their heads after no contact (Tomas' red and John Carrons yellow) was a total embarrassment from Derrys best club team.  This from a team and a club who whinged like babies and wanted a replay for a guy not interfering with play on the pitch for a few seconds last season.  Class act on and off the pitch it seems!!!

Let's see how that building for bigger challenges goes. There will come a point when you're not the precieved big match favourite beforehand and you won't have a weak referee out is his depth pandering to you.

Watched game back and whilst cargin are a good team, Glen could have won the game by 6/7 points . Had 3 good goal chances and could have had another from the throw in. They also kicked a lot of bad wides. Cargin kickout was there main weapon but glen did well on that. When cargin went short they struggled to get up the field into good scoring positions. Shivers in full forward offered very little. Looked like he was carrying an  injury as well?

Considering cargin beat antrim comfortably not too long ago they will be more than fit for a glen team that has struggled through derry this year.

Looking From the outside kilcoo are taking the rest of clubs for mugs and they all seem happy to oblige. It's no wonder they are so dominant .what could have spooked county board into not backing Faloon ?

Definitely as good an appointment as they could have got once o rourke turned it down. When you seen what happened with donegal last year its actually a great appointment.

I had hoped Meenagh stay on with him, not even sure why the Gallagher stuff popped up, Derry were never gonna bother with him again, and he only been mentioned as he been seen with Corduff this week.

Derry (as in the inner circle of CEO, Chair, PRO and main sponsor) were hell bent on reinstating RG, irrespective of the consequences or blowback. As close as last week, they were going to announce this, until it was scuppered by the Ulster Council statement outlining the fact that TG was still debarred from the association. Meenagh remained in situ for 57 days as he too thought Gallagher would be returning. Once it became clear he wasn't CM announced he wouldn't be returning. As for your statement re the Glen manager Malachy O'Rourke, again, like the various articles doing the rounds in the Irish news and Bel Tel, it's just poorly researched idle speculation.

This feels like it could be along the lines of what happened. Always got the feeling Meenagh didn't want to be the man in the spotlight out front, but I actually think he could be a bigger loss that RG in the long run.

I'm not sure that the inner circle, as you call them, were hell bent on reinstating RG but I would imagine in footballing terms they were probably thinking that we need that continuity to push us over the line.
New management might also push us on, but we could also slip back initially depending on what approach they decide to take.
Personally, I thought they would wait until the Ulster Council had finished what ever review they are doing and if it was positive they could be more comfortable in re-appointing him with some of the flak going the ulster council way. But it seems that is not the case.

We just need to draw a line under RG and Meenagh now and try to move forward, unless MOR doesn't want the Derry job. In that case, I'd be hell bent on getting Meenagh back in some capacity.

deluded. as much as i wouldnt be fan of rorys style or behaviour on line it was his work and methods that brought derry forward. If he hadnt came in it would never happened. More believeable is the likelihood that gallagher was still calling the shots alongside his brother right up until the semi defeat.

Between the jigs and the reels of the past few days it fairly clear what has happened here..

RG has been coaching Corduff (funded by Banty) which led to the media running a story about it. The GAA then act (react!) and bar him from GAA. Derry (who had one key member of CBoard itching for RG to return) then realise the game is up. Meenagh who had been waiting for a possible RG return then is instructed to make a statement that he is stepping down.. why? Because Malachy O'Rourke will now be appointed with a new backroom team.

How on earth the Derry CBoard ever thought they could get away with bringing RG back is beyond me. The man will now never coach another team again.

Naill on head there and from chatting to a few it seems gallagher was still an active presence up until this week and expected to be kept on.
