General discussion / Question For Financial Gurus
April 10, 2013, 07:58:15 PM
Why to governments borrow money from Banks. Most off the worlds Banks are themselves insolvent and relying on quantitive easing and bail outs from the same governments too whom they are lending money. Why can government not just print money and release it into the economy themselves, without the Banking middlemen

GAA Discussion / A proper International
January 14, 2013, 08:25:32 PM
Instead of the Basterised Code involving Aussie rules why dont we have a proper International between the 6 Counties and the 26, all proceeds to go too the creation of employment projects throughout Ireland as a whole, which might help keep some of our G.A.A. at home

Pope approves use of Condoms for Gay Prostitutes. He says that there use may be the first sign, of male prostitutes acting responsibly, to prevent spread of Aids. I suspect that he also said a lot more, which would put this story in its proper context, but we wont hear that from a sensation driven media. Im off to check Vatican web-site

General discussion / Belfast Telegraph

Did any of you read  the article in tonights edition of the Tele,  by a so called columnist named Julie Burchill. It was an ill informed, sectarian, hate filled rant against the Pope, the Church and catholics in general, which would equal if not exceed the worst excesses of Paisleys Protesant Telegraph in its hey-day. If such an article had been penned about the Muslim religion it would have sparked fury around the world, and rightly so. I believe a case could be made against the Tele, under the incitement to hatred act, and would exhort the Church or some influential lay groups within it to consider such an action. No religious body should be subjected too such ignorant and prejudiced trash being published as opinion, masquerading as fact. in the pages of Newspaper which claims to be liberal and non-sectarian. If there is not an uproar about this article, then we can only assume that this socety has abandoned all pretence of upholding values of balance, tolerance, and decency, and our Catholic Church leaders and laity have become gutless worms.

General discussion / Now Hear This
August 02, 2010, 01:25:41 AM
An insightful piece of writing by an Australian journalist

Ireland is not a nation, once again or ever, so the new story runs, but two nations; maybe several; it does not have its characteristic religion—or if it does, it ought not; it does not have its characteristic language, as anyone can see or hear; it has no particular race or ethnic integrity. Ireland is nothing—a no-thing—an interesting nothing, to be sure, composed of colourful parts, a nothing mosaic. It is advertising prose and Muzak.

Put that in your Pipes and smoke it

Italys Constitutional Court has ruled that Italian laws and customs take precedence over any rulings from the European Court of Human Rights. With Ireland facing a number of challenges to articles of our Constitution from secularist, humanist groups with an anti-christian agenda, perhaps this will provide some backbone to our Supreme Court when they have to face the rulings of this European quango, who are more interested in promoting their own agenda by asserting imaginary rights, rather than doing what is right

Heads of State of the European Union set to reject guarantees offered to Ireland to help push through Lisbon Treaty in a second referendum. Opposition being led by the Chech Presidency. This gives the lie to governments claims of rock solid guarantees, enshrined in law.  Does this utter shambles of a Government have any clue what they are doing. Are they representing Europe in Ireland or Ireland in Europe. Either way their word is being proved worthless
