Have never sat foot on the Hill. Was in the Canal for both Tyrone's victories. In fact I don't think I've experienced a loss in the Canal. The Hogan isn't a friend of mine.

QuoteIn the very first instance I'd relieve the referee

Always wondered why refs gave Strabane some easy ones.

Uladh, it's hard to see teams willing to allow a ball to be kicked from a free/mark around the middle of a park into the danger zone each time there's a kick-out, by simply not contesting it. It'd be suicide.

My first memory (attending) of Croke Park was 1988 when Tyrone lost to Kerry (I think) in the Ulster Minor semis. Was in the Nally Stand.

in football or hurling, what would it be? (or bring in one)

For me it has to be the mark for kick-outs. Although it was slightly less noticeable this year, it's awfully frustrating to see great fielders of the ball leaping like a salmon in Kildare and catching the leather only to land to find himself savaged by Galvin and a pack of ravenous hounds. Only the best of the best at this skill (O Se/Whelan) can catch and swivel like Nadia Comaneci to screw his way out of the mire.

GAA Discussion / Re: Donaghy's "tackle" on Ryan
August 29, 2007, 10:09:23 AM
This does need to be addressed. The GAA always seems to make a move on an issue a little later (a decade or two) behind their, dare I say it, friends across the water when it comes to rule changes, but usually follow suit eventually.

Tyrone committed one of these tackles late on v Kerry in the final of '05, I think on Brosnan when he was straight through.

The Oxford Engl. Dict. has no earlier meaning for "follow suit" than the one from card games, "to play a card of the same suit as the leading card; hence often, fig., to do the same thing as somebody or something else." The phrase used was originally "follow in suit," now obsolete. Earliest quotation: "The elder begins and younger follows in suit as at Whist" (1680).

Great losses to Down and now Armagh. The best players in the 2005 and 2006 MacRory Cups have left the sport.

Flipping hell, the media speculation is well out of control over there.

Very surprised at Bud's decision. Looked at his last posts as I don't read every thread (a lesson to some - you don't have to..) and it seems he got involved in a slanging match with someone (Dublin v Kerry) and huffed. There might have been a post deleted.  Maybe he wanted a way out. Didn't think he would run like that. If you think an idiot is trying to goad you, rise above it - they go away.

Every year this happens; the board is dead blah blah blah. Absolute crap.

Look at the first page:

Is it worth bothering with this board any more?

      Tomas Mulligan RIP

Will Spillane and the Southern Meeja have the balls to tell the truth???
Top 15 Footballers of the last 15 years

Now, tell me what on earth's wrong with that? Take a look at the old boards - not much change at all. If people think the board's slipping, then post threads of the quality they think is on the wane, and quit moaning about it.

'77 Pat
'78 Pat

the story might be true but the poster has been banned several times for posting over and over again about cormac and posting pictures of some presenter.  He also was banned after he started a thread one night saying  Micheal O'Muireceartaigh had died.

That makes sense. I received a recent pm from him when I posted my last message about him. He mentioned something about Micheal O'Muireceartaigh and 'dog days'. To be honest I hadn't a clue what he meant but now I remember. I also received 2 of this thread starter article as a pm. This lad is sick.

A victory for reality tonight. Andy Lee is the real thing - a real possibility as a world champion. Dunne was found out. Never anything more than a shaper and a tabloid creation. I don't follow boxing much these days, but his antics against the Dane in his last fight meant I wasn't too sorry to see him planted tonight. Steve Collins revisited. Muhammad Ali could get away with showboating. Anyone else trying it becomes a buffoon.

...bet ye wouldn't say that til his face.....
