Admission costs to club games
« on: November 15, 2021, 07:02:14 PM »
There's a bit of debate in the Tyrone club thread concerning the cost of admittance to the county SFC final yesterday (Sunday) - the charge was 15 for adults and 3 for children, which is the most expensive admission fee I can recall for a club championship final in Tyrone. At the current exchange rate, 15 is just a shade under 18 so I'm curious to know what other counties charge in for their flagship club football or hurling finals? Are we being fleeced in Tyrone or is it a fair comparison to many other counties across Ireland?

Laois senior football and hurling finals were 25 each, 20 if ticket bought online. Granted there was an intermediate hurling final and junior a football final before each one. At least 4000 in attendance for each final.

20 for adults, 15 (I think) for OAPs and students. U16 - free for next weekend's games.

Anyone want to throw up the streaming costs, if available, for your County.

Tyrone was 16 (1 more than attending)
Derry was 5
Down was 8

Cavan final was 12. They actually messed up the first game stream as the site went down, so they sent that one out for free on Vimeo 5 mins into the game. Those who paid the 12 for the stream, then got the replay for free.

There were however other options too, for weekend passes for other games that were a good deal if you were watching more than one match.

Children and all? Interesting. Any pushback over that?

For me, that's about right for a final.  I absolutely despise the fact that Armagh are charging kids 5 to go watch our games.  They could maybe have an excuse for a very minimal charge to regulate numbers when that was needed but what is the justification now, with rules relaxed?

Yes, charging children is wrong.

16 for online is a bit excessive. Even charging that at the turnstiles is mad

A county final should be no more than 10.

Meh, I'd be ok with it. It's the biggest game of the year in the county, and is an opportunity for a board to get a little cash in, especially after the last few Covid years with very little coming in. I've paid 20 to watch my club in county finals, and happy to do so as we're in a final. Kids absolutely should be free though
