Banty is just a gun for hire at this stage. No good to Laois!

What way will Waterford set up now?

Gleeson out, DeBurca back in. Will Fives keep the sweeper role or will he take on Gleesons job and De Burca goes back sweeping?

Bit of a joke seeing the Heath win by that score when you consider how few teams were in A. They were taking the easy option. Who does the grading, is it CBor the club themselves?

Camross v Borris/Kilcotton has the makings of an epic encounter.

Hard to know how the Abbeyleix v Ballacolla game will go. Abbeyleix must be full of confidence after defeating Camross however Ballacolla have been there before and know what it takes. As proved over the weekend they have big game players. Hard to fathom how they turned it around after such a hiding in the last round.

On thing that's interesting from reading the reports is that the stand out names are either current or former county men which isn't always the case in the football championship

Austin Gleson won't win hurler of the year unlesshe scores 2-08 in the final on half a leg and even then not guaranteed. Barron is probably the front runner although there will be a few Galway players in with a shout.

Syferus, you said not fair on Galway that Gleeson is available however Galway were also sweating over Tuohy (although his offense wasn't as blatant)

For me the most iportant players to Waterford are Moran and Brick as their guile, experience and workrate kept Waterford in it for the first 35 minutes. They are the real leaders in that Waterord team and without them Waterford wouldn't be in the AI never mind winning it. I thought they were both excellent in their roles last week. McGrath must have done his damnedest to make sure they stayed involved.

Final is 50/50 for me and the media will really play up the Canning v Gleeson duel.

Good to see Portarlington and Graigue joining Portlaoise in the quarters. We've spoken about the contribution of the urban centres to the Laois cause in the past so this has to be welcomed. Mountmellick down in the relegation fight isn't good for a town that size.

Stradbally in relegation does nothing for their credibility either being the defending champions.

Josephs going nowhere again this year and it's hard to look beyond Portlaoise for a winner although they might get a game from Graigue or Port were they to meet. In saying that Graigue have promised much in the past and failed to deliver.

We haven't an abundance of forwards either. The 2 Lee's made a huge difference this year in the backs but with Keenan not committing, Picky injured, PJ Scully also suffering we don't have enough. I know there were a lot of injuries and Kings sending off but we were short forwards against Dublin. Cha, Willie Dunphy out.
Someone with the goal sense that Tommy Fitz had would be great.
I agree though that if we could get a couple more backs of decent quality into the panel it would be of huge benefit as injuries there would also leave us in bother. I suppose a strengthening of the panel all round with decent quality, committed players. It will be good to see if we could have a better cut off the likes of Limerick next year in the league.

Total sea change in Laois between hurling and football right now. The hurlers a much better prospect for any potential managers. Footballers will need a Laois man for the job as the post will only attract a fly by night manager similar to the likes of Teddy McCarthy with the hurlers a few years ago and we certainly don't want to go down that route.

So Abbeyleix and Borris/Kilcotton into the semi finals with the winners of the games between Ballinakill, Clogh/Ballacolla, Camross and Rathdowney.

Will the semi finals be open draw or does it depend on who wins the quarters? Could St Lazarians be drawn against Camross again for example?

Looking at Abbeyleix thre must be a couple more lads that could come in to the senior set up. Reilly should definately get involved as we are light enough with scorers with injuries etc.

Great win for Port last night. That will be a real confidence boost for them! Anyone at the game as it seems Kileen should have won in normal time.

Well it's about time the clubs showed a bit of balls and stood up against this. Club executives should be getting their mandate from their club. Time to act is now!
