It's a bit like the meeting Dublin in the Leinster Final. It's nice to get there, but once your there you realise it's not the 90's anymore.

Roscommon have gone flat. Mayo's purple patch has killed the game.

When you're a Marquee Forward you have to look for protection from the Referee.

Quote from: marty34 on April 20, 2024, 08:00:18 PMDonegal's day for sure. Were the better team on the evening.

But this day will soon be forgotten. Things move on. Derry will re-group and Donegal will move on. One game doesn't make a summer.

Derry will move on and are still a top team.

That also counts for the League Final. People on here were losing the run of themselves about a game Derry could not see out twice.

Today showed that the league is far from a formality. There will be a few more twists and turns.

The Dublin Dominance is not just the players, it's the constant of playing at home for the Championship in Croke Park. Players getting up in their own beds, short travel to game, familiarity with the ground-staff, Familiarity of Dressing room, Familiarity of the pitch, Crowd influencing Referee decisions, Superior Crowd getting behind the players, the Hill, the Songs being played before the Match and at half time over the PA, the PA announcer, Familiarity of Match day rituals of Croke Park. The list goes on.

Quote from: Armagh18 on April 20, 2024, 10:25:44 AMIf there was any justice City would be stripped of all their titles. Will admit that Liverpool side did unbelievably well to get near that financially and I've a feeling physically doped team. Bit like that Mayo team running into the Dubs but at least Liverpool got their title!

Mayo are similar, All Ireland finals there to be won against Dublin in 2016,17 and found ways to lose them and even when they took out Dublin in 2012,2021 they ended up losing to Donegal,Tyrone.  We can all talk about the advantages of Manchester City and how much of soulless club there are however they weren't winning that 2021/22 league title without that Liverpool slip up with a few games to play against Tottenham who they more often than not beat in Anfield.

Next Liverpool fans will be using the excuse of making it to the Champions League final in 21/22. And the extra pressure of getting there and it affecting their League push.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on April 20, 2024, 11:37:32 AMMust be a parade or two for those glorious points tally's?

That's the tough sh1t of sport. You can be the best team in a below average league and you can be a really top team in a  in a competitive league.

City are going for their 6th league title in 7 years. They'd be going for 7 in a row if Liverpool did not break their run. They are going for an unprecedented 4 in a row this year. People can say money is the factor, but money will only buy you a very strong squad. You still need hunger and organisation. I hear all this talk of the 115 charges against City, if they held any substance then City would be deducted points like Forest and Everton. There is no way the League would treat one club different to the rest. Klopps record of being competitive in the League here and there and being competitive in the Champions League is over blown. Any other club other than City could do what Klopp has done at liverpool the last 5 to 6 years. It's mad that he lasted so long at the club.

Quote from: 5times5times on April 19, 2024, 12:25:09 PMDidn't Liverpool have 4 managers between 2010-2015???

They had 3 Managers Roy Hodgson, Kenny Dalgish and Brendan Rodgers.

Quote from: ONeill on April 18, 2024, 04:44:51 PMTrying to go toe to toe with this City team domestically takes its toll. Arsenal have been running on near empty for a few matches now.

I'd start loads of fringe players v Wolves on Saturday.

Ah Jez, foot to the floor time..... get the win and go ahead of City. City won't be feeling to great at the moment and pile a bit of pressure on them.

Quote from: Mario on April 15, 2024, 10:36:15 AMHe wrote an article the week before the league final saying it would be a success if Derry get within 6 points of this amazing Dublin team. Since then he's made a few comments that it's only the league. Then on his podcast last week he said he'll support those Derry lads no matter what as they are giving everything for the jersey, it's just Mickey Harte he doesn't like, but a few months ago he was saying no Derry player is good enough to start the Dublin team. The quality just isn't there and processed football can only get you so far.

From a football point of view he wants nothing more than Dublin to hammer everyone and he can then somehow link it to Pat Gilroy.

As a Dungiven man I find it very hard to listen to him these days. He is a walking contradiction. He's not stupid and I suppose he is staying relevant as we are talking about him so he's probably achieving what he set out to do.

I struggle to listen to Brolly anymore too. Used to enjoy him but he comes across now as slightly unhinged. Uses his platforms to target those who he hates incl Derry players and strikes me as a man who is content when Derry lose, he's not a real supporter. It's pretty clear to me of those who he targets have all one thing in common, he's highly jealous of them. He only ever has one objective and that is to make everything about him!!

That last podcast annoyed my head and I usually like the podcasts. I'm 100% a GAA man 1st and foremost but the constant it's nothing unless the GAA do it is bollox. My lads go to the local soccer club and they're very much a community club and do a lot for the people in the area and are absolutely delighted that they had a load of lads and girls from the surrounding GAA clubs playing with them.
He hadn't even the humility to check the history of the people he mentioned in it. "Do you think Gary Neville and David Beckham give a shit about Man Utd after they left them?" No wonder people from other sports don't like the GAA

Yeah its cringeworthy stuff from Brolly.

Why cant we say how great one sport is without having to run down another.

Unless its rugby just to wind them up haha.

My kids play a multiple of sports. Soccer and Gaelic football is naturally the biggest cross over of players in the area. Both clubs are parish Clubs. Both are mainly supplied by the 3 Schools in our area. We have kids from the different schools meeting up 4 times a week from training and Matches for both codes. This builds huge familiarity, bonding and friendship. Exposure to matches in both codes brings on fitness, match confidence and skill. There are naturally parents and players that might prefer one over the other, but we generally work well together. There are also multiple cross over of Coaches. Both Facebook pages regularly acknowledge achievements of the other. After all we are really just pouring praise on ourselves.

Anyone I find you tries to belittle the other is missing the whole spirit of sport and how it can galvanise pride in where you come from (or where you live).

Quote from: SouthOfThe Bann on April 14, 2024, 11:16:20 PMWhat does KPI stand for? 😂

Strikes me as a business term.

KPI stands for key performance indicator, a quantifiable measure of performance over time for a specific objective. KPIs provide targets for teams to shoot for, milestones to gauge progress, and insights that help people across the organization make better decisions.
