You'd have to wonder what the hell CB officials are there to do! Four man review committee to look back on to the past and four more to look to the future!

Them boxes need ticking and no better buachailli than ours to engage in such exercises.

The clubs won't go for it, and in fairness I can see the reasons why. Timahoe have lost all direction, and are one of a number of clubs who are too small to stand on their own two feet. Mountmellick seem to be looking at ways to avoid standing on their own two feet if recent activity is a gauge. The point is this. You drop to Intermediate and interest levels drop simultaneously. The reality is that we have far too many clubs with very small numbers. Clubs like Timahoe, Kilcruise, Killeen and many others rely on a golden crop, and can't possibly sustain prolonged periods in Senior. There are many clubs like them who could very easily just fall off the map altogether. We all know that there are intermediate clubs masquerading as Senior, but sometimes I wonder if they're not better off

Given the choice, I'd rather see proper arrangements in place that allow all players in Junior or Intermediate to play with a Senior club. There has to be an incentive to play the game because restricting participation to badly functioning clubs will only kill interest. There is so much proof of this.

The clubs you quoted just highlight the problem. Clubs from parishes with more than one club.

Imagine the competitive nature of our championship with a "One parish, one club" rule. This thing of being in a different club every time you drive around a corner on a Laois road is detrimental to the county. The obvious exception to this is the Greater Portlaoise area.

2017
BK 5-18 CB 2-8

2018
BK 3-23 CB 1-11

2019
CB 2-17 BK 1-16
BK 0-25 CB 1-15 (semi final)

Borris Kilcotton have generally had Clough Ballacolla's measure. Will that change?
Broderick is a big loss to start with.

There is no doubt but the senior players in both of these clubs will feel that they should have collected more SHC medals. Especially when they see what Rathdowney Errill have managed and what Camross did in a short period.
You'd have to be impressed with how CB have stayed coming back and how they have filtered good young players into their lineup.

I think it will be fascinating. The lights and weather should add to the drama and the bookies' odds highlight how fine the margins are here.

It will in my opinion come down to whichever of PJ & Picky make the biggest impression from play.
I'm giving Picky & CB a hesitant nod.

Good call.

Critchley or Dempsey if you were looking for someone who would be seen as non biased towards either code because I could imagine some football people being unhappy with cheddar, ideally you would have all 3 involved though

The exact same standing would be someone like Niall Rigney, not Cheddar, Critchley etc.

Beaten by KK by 14 points in the minor round robin in 2018.

Good to see that we've improved through the age groups which is a good sign.

U'20 grade is far more important for transition to senior.

Pity they couldn't get the win. It would have been a mighty boost for hurling.

There are some great groups coming through, of which the current 20s are the first. Pity that two of those groups were destroyed by one man at minor. Hopefully we can rebuild them with good coaching at u20 and senior. The future is definitely encouraging.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a bit more reaction to the minor result here. Fool me once etc ...

No one cares

But Shur aren't we building for next year anyways

Same as every year

Not half enough accountability.

Not having a go or anything.... I'm trying my best here to work out what you're saying as I'm sure you have a valid point or two in there somewhere but it looks like one of those newspaper competitions where you have to rearrange the words to form a sentence.

What's wrong with Laois Football/ Hurling well we all know what's wrong.  However we all seem to think this is as bad as it can get where I think far worse could happen.  My biggest issue for the last couple of years is the absense of a coherent plan,  Mike Hency has been brought in and given carte blance,  his doing a job but who in god's name makes him answerable to no one.  It's really the same as Mike Quirke if he doesnt answer to anyone who is in charge.  Managers of the Senior County Squad have absolutely nothing to do with Laois Football.. There is a football committee made up of one person that is madness.  Laois Football should have a plan and set targets that are ambitious but realistic.  I love Laois Football but currently sick of it as I pointed out years ago what was coming and I was ridculed,  I take no pleasure in what has come to pass.

As a full time employee he must be answerable to our full time secretary and our Coaching Officer, surely? Also, Leinster Council pay half his wages, don't they, so he must be answerable to them too.

Unbelievable. At u14 I'm fairly sure this team beat Limerick in the Tony Forristal. What the hell has happened in the meantime.

U2os out tonight. Doesn't look an overly strong team but should have enough for Westmeath.

Saw this comment on another forum from a non Laois person and i think it sums us up alright.

"Typical Laois - one step forward (2019) and then five steps back"

Agreed. Cheddar saved the CB's bacon but in truth, letting Brennan go was a shot to our own foot. Same with Sugrue. Things are hard enough for us without constantly making these f**k ups

And yet nothing will be done about the people who constantly make these f**k ups, especially the ones who hate hurling and are happy to see Laois hurling go backward.

What the hurlers or footballers do is immaterial unfortunately. It's not like they are judged on their performance. The nodding dogs will still ratify them next year.

I wouldn't confine it to just those who are ratified.

And THIS is the problem!
At u15 level, some hurling teams are only sure to get THREE matches. I must admit, I haven't bothered to look up the football format for the same age group, but I'd be stunned if teams weren't getting more than that.
But then again, why aren't hurling people getting into positions of influence in the CB?

Sorry, I'd say you picked me up wrong. I wasn't talking about our juvenile structures and fixtures.
