Might as well get this started .

I pray it is not a repeat of the first 25 minutes at the same stage in 2008.
Nothing , and I mean nothing, has been as bad as that

Not fussy.  Any sort of ability will be considered

Jeez Ferm Gael - that was a poor 25mins alright. We must have had around 7 or 8 wides before Kildare scored,  and each one sucked whatever bit of life was left in the team.
Hard to know how things will recover for this one, and what the managements attitude will be.
I'd make a few changes - depending on Seamie's state of health I'd start him and Tomas - and keep Sean on the bench. I'd be tempted to move Ryan to full forward, Conall to wing forward, and Aidan Breen to midfield. Kildare are a huge mobile team, and we need to match them early on.
Would love to see the brakes come off a bit but that is unlikely.
Hard to see a positive result in this one, and if I'm honest I don't think 3 games in the super 8 is what we need this year. See if we can unearth a few more young players in the club championship and Rory and co can reflect on whether the style of 2018 will survive division 2 in 2019, and if we can build for championship next year.

I think Fermanagh have a chance here.

Just poking my head in, trying to impose gadget free holiday on the kids so can't get caught.

Anyway this, Kildare always struggle against defensive teams, while we try to play like Dublin we don't have their patience, confidence or indeed talent.

If we can drag Fermanagh out we have a chance, hoping the Ulster final has sown some doubts and that Fermanagh open up a little.

Those 25 minutes in 2008 were comical at the end, the whole ground cheered the 1st score. In 2008 we lost to Wicklow a Division 4 team in the 1st round of Leinster before squeezing past Cavan in #newbridgeornowhere and Limerick away.

Hopefully a case of history repeating itself.

Will Fermanagh be competing or just fulfilling the fixture?
Their Ulster Final experience may well have burst all their bubbles and enthusiasm.

It might sound over-simplistic but I believe Rory will have studied the Kildare v Carlow game and will set up similarly, which is how Fermanagh play anyhow. This, to me, gives them a decent chance.

That's how I expect Fermanagh to set up too.

The key stat from that Carlow game was Carlow's 100% shooting rate and Kildare shooting 34% - I just don't see Fermanagh being able to replicate those percentages.

Kildare will surely have learned lessons from the Carlow game in terms of their shooting choices - harsh experience being the best teacher and all that.

Will the winners of this game be on the Sunday or Saturday the following weekend?

Probably around the same time as the WC final. We'll only worry about that if we can get over a tough Fermanagh team. The last meeting in the League last year was a walk in the park for Kildare as they ran in 4 goals but Fermanagh ended up a bit shambolic defensively under McGrath. The form of beating Armagh and Monaghan is a more accurate reflection of their ability. They played well in the Ulster final until Donegal got clear, if they had been more clinical in the early stages it would have been a lot more interesting.
Whatever happens I hope Kildare turn up and go at it with the same intensity of last Saturday and hopefully us fans turn up too and learn the lesson of what good positive loud support can do for a team.

Most likely Sunday 2pm

1. To keep on same day as other teams in the group
2. More importantly, to give Monaghan / Laois a full week between games

Captain Scarlet

Last week was a real watershed moment for Kildare as it was the first time in years they actually beat a team ranked higher than them in the championship.
Carlow may have done us a massive favour in it finally woke up some of the lads.

We looked like a different team v Mayo, but there is always a risk of reverting to type...a lot of this packed defence means a lack of personal responsibility and if we get our lads running directly at Fermanagh we should be OK.
Paul Cribbin and Fergal Conway have been very good the last two days now.
I still think we need Flynn drifting out and stretching his legs early on. We need to draw fouls at worst and get scores on the board.

Midfield should be a good battle and I worry on Kildare kickouts as the keeper never gets a real bolter for the short ones.
them mysterons are always killing me but im grand after a few days.sickenin aul dose all the same.

Donnellys Hollow

Hopefully Feely is fit enough to play out around the middle more this week. We will need his composure on the ball to break down the Fermanagh blanket. I think there's a good chance Niall Kelly will get the nod ahead of Brophy for this one.
There's Seán Brady going in, what dya think Seán?

FermGael

Honestly think we have a real chance here.
For my sins I watched the Ulster final back again and we really were awful.
I think the hype got to the players and everything that could go wrong did.
If Tomas Corrigan is fit he has to start.
Otherwise start both Quigley's and leave them in the full forward line and
give Kildare something to worry about.
We need a forward presence.
Midfield will be fine and defensively we have showed a massive improvement
since we last played Kildare.
I think this game should suit us as we are being written off.
Will be hard for Kildare to hit the heights of last week after all the fuss.
I think the ambush could be on.....
