General discussion / Re: The far right

Immigration is an issue that could completely derail Sinn Fein (or any political party for that matter) in a similar way that Brexit created gaping holes in traditional voting patterns in the UK.

Kerry are the one team this year who I've felt have been playing their cards very close to their chest, that or they've just been pretty poor. Seeing that's it's Kerry we'll have to give them the benefit of the  doubt I suppose. I remember thinking Derry had moved ahead of them in the pecking order but the league really is just the league. I'd be tempted to back them for the AI at this stage- not that it would be a huge shock if they won.

Perfectly put.

Quote from: bennydorano on May 14, 2024, 09:36:35 AMA point I've made about GAAGO a few times is that, to me, it 100% seems like a staging post on the route to semi-pro GAA. Once it gets really established costs will further recede and profits increase. I've no doubt Sean K looks at GAA financial figures throough his previous GPA head - how long before we hear 'GAAGO made €Xm this year and the players who are the product get nothing'  only a matter of time imo.

How is that different than 'the GAA got €Xm from Sky/RTE/TG4 this year...'

I don't necessarily understand the point here (not specifically yours Benny), is it that all games should be available free to air all the time? Or just all the good games? Who should pay for this? Should funds be diverted from capital projects so that people can sit at home with a bowl of crisp and crack open a beer to watch the games?

And Sean Cavanagh has just been completely embarrassed with his hyperbolic statement being called out, I teel you what, based on his handle on numbers I wouldn't be wanting to drop a set of company accounts in to him.
Should be considerably more money generated by having no middle man operator, which should only increase with getting better established / growth and after the initial costs subside.

Wholesale changes for Armagh v Westmeath would be madness. It really has to be a guaranteed win or the game will be well and truely up. We're well warned after last year, I wouldn't change any personnel from the weekend - injuries permitting.

See a squad of them on the beer in the Foresters in Lurgan last night, good luck to them, do them no harm.

Season over, no coming back from that gut punch.

Put numerous men on the square the odd time, really push up, put the ball in, create mayhem & panic. Worked v Galway. Won't happen, but still.

I expect disappointment but live in hope. Huge game, defeat is the end of the road for this Armagh team - it is as simple as that imo, nowhere near the same level of pressure on Donegal.

There wasn't one decent kick pass in the league final, I'd expect Armagh to pepper the Donegal square regularly this time - in between the basketball. It'll be an interesting game, hopefully with a few surprises.

Definite need for replacements. O'Riley is a cert to go. Could see Kyogo going as well imo as I dont think BR values him as much as Ange did. Carter vickers another strong possibility.

Jesus, surprised to hear that in this era of milking it. Derry will be sick 2nite.

I take it both go forward into AI QFs anyway - what is the QF draw?

Good to see the Penalty Kick Champs are mentally recovering from their embarrassing home defeat to plucky Division 2 Champs Donegal. Certs for the AI.
