if Ronaldo or Drogba did that dive there would be murder at high noon

but i find it quiet amazing how Gerrard keeps his cool to dispatch all these dodgy penalties

p.s didn't i predict 3-2?

Well said, or any other Utd player, it'd be counted as 'lucky breaks at OT'...

Chelsea to win the league with Arsenal pushing them to the wire.

We didn't get the goal. That's where things count, on the scoreboard. True, I was happy with the performance but performances don't matter a damn, look at Liverpol the other night, played Lyon off the park and only drew. We need more bite in midfield to be able to start with 2 upfront and sadly from a Utd point of view the bite's not there.

Laying pipes for companies all over Ireland I believe, Deel Rover could correct me on this one. Could be placed anywhere at any time too. Spent a fair bit of time in Meath.

Is there some sort of new cult of the poppy going on in the uk, fail to wear one and you'll be an outcast.

I doubt my uncle is wearing a poppy and he's married over there for around 30something years.

Just a slight feeling, but I think we can do it today!

Undoubtably a player of huge ability but I have to ask how many seasons (or part seasons) did he opt out of playing for his county (and club) over his career?

one thing that can not be questioned was his commintment to is club. he has been playing senior with them since he was 16 and played every since bar 1996 when he went to america thats nearly 20 years of senior club football. yep he had he up and downs with the mayo set up but he seemed to put his work first and who can blame him .

Far from blaming Ciarán McDonald, I'd blame the County board for allowing him to be made work all over the country. FFS, if he was in any other county he'd be kept working in that county.

Jaysus just looking at some of the selections for best ever Mayo team there is little doubt that so many players come from the north Mayo axis of Crossmolina, Knockmore and Ballina. I've put together the following team from the three clubs and I've included Ardnaree as well. Moysider and Deel Rover and the lads might be able to do better but whatever way you look at it, it is very formiddable. Would this team beat a rest of Mayo select?

Sean Wynne (Ballina)

John Forde (Ardnaree)   Willie Casey (Ballina)  John Maughan (Crossmolina)

Liam O'Neill (Knockmore)  James Nallen (Crossmolina)  Peter Quinn (Ardnaree)

Liam McHale (Ballina)    Padraig Brogan (Knockmore)

Seamus O'Dowd (Ballina)   Ciaran McDonald (Crossmolina)  Joe Corcoran (Ardnaree)

Kevin O'Neill (Knockmore)  Paddy Moclair (Ballina)  Josie Munnelly (Crossmolina).

Paddy Moclair is Balllina, right? I'll gladly take a replacement for John Maughan but I can't think of one off-hand (and that's not a criticism on him, but injury did hold him back from realising his potential).

Quite possibly yes that team would beat a rest of Mayo select.

Best wishes to all Mayo teams playing today in the Connacht Championships too.

I wonder will O'Mahony get the players to train before the close season closes, if you know what I mean. He should have done it last year instead of moaning and whinging at every opportunity when it was too late.

On another note, when is the closing date for the panel this time? :P

We got 2 from the 1950/51 team. But Breheny is a Galway f**ker anyway and he's also an idiot.

McMenamon was one who never shirked a challenge anyway. He was so determined. I remember when I was kicking ball with my dad in the garden at home and if I'd kick it out over the sideline it'd be a "Colm McMenamon shot", but he was as strong as an ox. Did he play a bit with Burrishoole this year in the league?

He did indeed. But he had to pack it in because he couldn't work for two days afterwards. He played well every year til this year. He's about 39 now methinks. The type of strongman we don't have anymore. We've been discussing that type of player a lot lately.

Imagine having guys like Colm Mc, Gary Ruane, Noel Connelly, TJ Kilgallon now. Leaders, winners and men who won't back down in any situation.

Christ those men you've mentioned there RGS, how come we've stopped producing those type of players? Or is it just a hitch in the system.
