But surely you should be able to see a plan, a system, some kind of tactics beyond the basic, something to give these players a structure to develop in ...
What does that even mean? Lost their way when Hampsey went off on the black card... need to look at that. They were the much better side.

What that means is exactly what it says. It's great to see new players get brought in and given a meaningful taste of league and championship.

There is also a lot of talent there, which means we can go on scoring sprees and look fantastic for periods. All good. So the raw ingredients are there.

What is not evident is a system or structured gameplay to compete with Dublin/Kerry/Derry (and McGuiness back means Donegal are also a much diffeent prospect).

There is zero consistency in the team, from quarter to quarter, never mind game to game.

Maybe I just dont see/understand the current tactics as well as others and I would be delighted to be proved wrong.

I'd love to know what L/Ds game plan is bar pack 15 into defence and hope mcCurry / Canavan do something if the ball gets their length on the break.

Have seen very little distinguishing last 3 years tactics from Harte's old defensive approach , except for a more 'unstructured' attack.

Lot of talent there but every game seems to be pot luck in terms of what Tyrone we see. In fact not even every game.... Every half

Really positive staying in Div 1 with such a turnover of players.

God jr snr living up to the hype God jr jr hopefully not far behind.

McShane back and Mattie there as well, great to see.

Some of the younger players did very well and if not starting certainly offer options from the bench.

Just wonder how much the lack of having a settled starting 15 play together will hinder the team. Would expect they need 2-3 games to click, which they won't have in Ulster.

Still....Happy with all that so far.

Quote from: God14 on March 05, 2024, 07:34:39 AMGood article by Cahir OKane in todays Irish news about the problems with our attack. he's saying essentially the players are there its the shape thats wrong. i would strongly agree with him

He is basically saying Brian Dooher and his coaches aren't up to it.

That might well be the case.

Very good. Strange Cahir wasn't asked to take Derry when Rory Gallagher left

Exactly. You get a job as a reporter and suddenly you are an expert in GAA.

I don't know if this guy played football to any serious level but he starts telling a double all Ireland winner where he is going wrong.

Quintuple all Ireland winner, inc his 2 management wins tbf   ;)

Quote from: trailer on March 03, 2024, 02:01:14 PMRow suited Kerry. Turned the game. Two Clifford's should be off the field. But that doesn't suit the GAA and they're protected by refs.

How the feck did you come to that conclusion?! Show me the part where either  did anything to actually warrant a red card there?

Paudie third man in.  That's been a red for a long while. Tyrone often get penalised for it.

DC threw Con to the ground and jumped on him and then elbowed a Tyrone player.

These are red card offences.

Just do it fair. That's all we're asking

Correct. DC starts it, PC pours petrol on it, both still on pitch. Wonder if retrospective action will be taken (as if, its Kerry)

Quote from: Derryman forever on March 03, 2024, 02:05:05 PMI cant for the life of me see how DC escaped without some sort of card. Past instigators and perpetuators of a melee have been red carded.

The golden boy is allowed to do whatever the fcuk he wants, up until he plays against Dublin. Then he's treated like everyone else.

Poked what bear? Kerry amd Clifford were the ones who started that whole issue. Linesman and ref clueless.

Clifford started and kept that entire melee going and walks away scott free. One rule for the golden child. One rule for Tyorne.

Night and day performance from Tyrone.

When they stopped being passive and started pushing up, running at people, firing quick ball into Canavan (an unreal display of ball winning tonight) they were immense.

Still a long way to go, but def a tonic after the turgid rubbish of the first 3 games.

Quote from: tyroneman on February 18, 2024, 06:07:27 PMJaysus that was a boring match.

Tyrone were poor.

Soft goal to give away in the context of the game and so so slow and ponderous in the build up.

Match summed up in one passage where Harte had the ball 2v2 at the 45 with a clear  break on and proceeded to turn in circles before offloading backwards.

McQuillan was as expected.
