Quote from: God14 on June 16, 2024, 11:44:32 AMVery poor from Conn, the game was won. When will he ever learn? He needs to look at his peers, Fenton, Conroy, McGee, even Glass (to a lesser extent)
None of them engage in the constant macho hardmen act he does
He has become a liability
And he doesn't need too, brilliant footballer when his head is right

Now we have a midfield conundrum. Kilpatrick is looking at a 2 game ban, so he might as well go on holiday.
3rd Choice midfielder, Joe Oguz injured. Fourth choice Aodhan Donaghy injured. Fifth choice Liam Gray injured. Who can partner Kennedy now??

Very good second half yesterday. That's two good second halfs in a row. Is there a performance building in this team??

Think McShane was brought on yesterday to try and shore it up when Conn went off but we're definitely light there now. Burns has played midfield before but hasn't played much ball this year.
Cormac Donnelly come into the middle then?

Lol, forgot about him. We do have a sixth choice midfielder then

Daly will prob get the nod with McGeary/McShane coming back in

Not ready of much else yet also even midfield loss (drop Kilpatrick from panel? liability - sad but so). Is Oguz definitely out? Play Harte in middle need strength there. Ruari Canavan flaky at times to Had clear open run on goal early against Cork very slow. Confidence not all

it should be? And quiet word with Darragh about his failure to flip ball to open McGeary and O'Donnell (?) against Donegal and going for spectacular goal. Brilliant player but its from each according to their ability to each according to their needs. Keep needs low, arrogance under control in a team game.
Are you talking about Darragh Canavan here? The same lad that needed to get told at underage level that he needs to shoot more instead of looking to get his teammates involved everytime?

I would have thought Daly to midfield and Petey Harte in. He must be near fit for a start now?

Also Darragh Canavan can take as many shots and be as greedy as he wants. We have a generational talent on our hands.

Truthsayer

Darragh like all players need to know when to hold it know when to fold it... but to describe his play as 'arrogance' is way out. Very gifted player who exudes class and certainly does not come across as arrogant. Far from it.. like his brother and Da salt of the earth.

Anything to be said for holding Seanie O'Donnell as a sub. Tyrone very lethargic for long periods against Cork and as things opened up and he was starting to exploit space he was taken off. As this is a common trait of Tyrone, having O'Donnell and O'Hare comign on early second half and exploiting teams as the game opens up and legs tire could be an option? Tyrone would be better suited starting Peter Harte and bringing on O'Donnell rather than the other way around.
As for midfield I think it will be a straight midfield swap with whoever is fit out of Oguz, Donaghy, Gray and Donnelly coming in as a straight swap. Dooher and Logan tend to go for like for like replacements rather than move players around as was the case with Harte where a lot of players lined up midfield with very limited results.

God14

I don't know if any of those midfield options will be available. As they were not available on Saturday past, I'm going to assume they are not available this Saturday

Agree with you, regards the need for a direct replacement, and not shuffling others about

Frank Burns at midfield for 45mins? Big ask after a long spell out, but he's been on the bench for the past 2 games. Replace him with Lorcan McGarrity around the 45min mark when the game really opens up

The Trap

Need somebody to man mark Enda Smith at midfield a bit like how Mayo did it to Fenton.
Who could do that?

Kennedy has proven himself in this role in the past against David Moran, Matthew Ruane etc.

Lamh Dhearg Alba

Plenty of questions about this team but Meyler being too dedicated and Darragh arrogant?  :D A few more like those two and we'd take some stopping.

Will be interesting to see how we shape up Saturday and if some momentum is building. Real shame about Conn. Super footballer but simply has to improve his discipline.

Last 2 or 3 times we've played Roscommon across league and championship it's been Meyler who had picked up Smith. Not sure Brian's in that mould, if that's how they think he needs to be marked. Be interesting to see who gets the job.

An Watcher

I don't remember a Tyrone Championship season going as dull in all my life.  No buzz or excitement.  Team going nowhere.  Almost wish we get knocked out on Sat to avoid being embarrassed by Dublin or Kerry the following week.

Attendances have been absolutely shocking. Look at the Clare game last week. Embarrassing for a top tier County. Having said that, I wasn't there myself...

Club games look to be getting alot of punters though. Tyrone is still football mad.

Tyrone Dreamer

Hopefully there is a better turnout this week. Would be a shame if can't get a crowd out for a home knockout game. I don't see us winning an All Ireland but the team still has potential to play decent football. And in Canavan and Morgan we have two of the best players in the country. The likes of Mattie has put so much into Tyrone football and they deserve the county to get behind them. When you take the club discount into account it's reasonably priced for a knockout game.

I couldn't get my Foireann discount code to work on Ticketmaster.
