Not so long ago people on here were talking about how the standard in division 2 was the worst it's been in years.

Today shows that the standard in division 2 this year is as good as any year if not better.

Maybe some of you from so called bigger clubs will start to show a bit of respect

Aghaloo a good win today as expected with pressure off. Question is which of Glenelly or Cookstown will they end up bottling it again.
Clearly a good team but lacking in the stones department.

Surely that was a foul on the aghaloo keeper? Criminal to pass the ball back to the keeper especially when you're 3 up and all u need to do is not concede a goal.

Aghaloo were far superior throughout, they'll be sick to lose it.

You'd have to fancy them through the playoffs. It'll be hard for them to get motivated again but they've spent long enough in D3 now and they've too many good players to spend another year down in junior.

Kileeshil will win by 6 or 7
Aghaloo, by 16 or 17.
Those 2 in the final and Kileeshil to win.

Must have hit 6 or 7 wides. That ratio just doesn't cut it at county I'm afraid

Second half though was a 10-15 min collapse, which Aghaloo punished severely.

Either them or Drumquin for championship.

I don't think Drumquin will have enough. Between Kileeshil and Aghaloo for me. If I had to put my money on someone I'd go Kileeshil.

Let Gortin enjoy their day mystic meg

Quote from: Write boys on August 10, 2024, 09:12:34 PMAw guys  have to disagree with some posters here regarding standard div 1 and div2.Barring Eglish I think all other division 1 teams a good bit above division 2.Up to 6 of division 2 teams very similar standard. Where does that leave us regarding championship

I think you are right. The gap is wider than ever between division 1 & 2. I don't see any current Div 2 team getting promoted this year holding their place in Division 1 the following year, they'll be straight back.

Ah but teams go up and surprise you, look at Moortown and Greencastle.
Pomeroy were no big shakes when they were div 2 either.and look at them now.
That being said, it's not often that in D2 that you don't have a stand out candidate. It makes for an exciting league and championship. I'd argue that D2 league is the one of the most interesting and competitive around. Anyone can beat anyone on their day which makes for great viewing

Also, I've always advocated more matches. When compared to our local soccer counterparts we play very few matches.

Any player i talk to prefers a more condensed season. When I played we used to have long breaks of a month or 6 weeks in the middle of the season without playing a competitive match.

It was soul destroying training and not knowing when the next game was coming along. At least now lads can plan a life around a reasonably accurate schedule.

People giving out about only 4.5 months of football. What's the alternative - to string it out only to play the same amount of games...why?

Uphill battle for drumragh from here..I wouldn't say Fintona are out of the woods yet either. Tough for all the promoted teams

Some.turnaround for gortin to be sitting top having only finished a place above relegation play offs last year!

This must be their 4th/5th year in a row in a championship final or playoff final?

Killeeshil will beat them by 6 or 7

I thought Beragh were already promoted. :o

Saturday 21st at 2 O'Clock in Annagher

Flew under the radar but the div 2 relegation playoff was a couple weeks ago.

Great win for killeeshil, looks like they will be too strong for anyone in div 3 so should stay up.

Not many in Division 2 sad to see Tattyreagh go down. Some fall from grace having been in division 1 not so long ago.
