No seeding Bogball... Ballinderry, Banagher and Screen all premier sides. It's an open draw again for the QF AFAIK.

I think our system is good. Yes maybe the matches aren't as intense but compared to the previous system the 3 matches per team per section is compensating for 8 first round games. From the QF on I can guarantee that all games will be a hundred miles an hour from now on in. ALthough Ballinderry will still win it at a canter!

I would have thought this was the perfect time for EOS to leave after the world cup! He's been there a while now and I think that someone with new ideas and a new take on things should get a full four year tilt at the next world cup.

Very uncool milkman... this is a place for discussing what is currently happening ont he show. Not what's happening in the future.

As for what's happening at the minute, it's great TV. I knew Boyd would come good in the end and I think there is still a spark with him and Janae and I hope the kids can work it out.

How does Kaal get himself into all these awkward situations?? His boss fancies his wife who he thinks is Kaal's sister?? How do they come up with these things??

GAA Discussion / Re: If You Could Change One Rule

Not that it's enforced much but I think the rule for hitting a free kick too short is crazy... why after giving the team an advantage would you remove it from them??

As someone who likes nothing better than to make a flying leap over 5 men and come down clutching the ball in your chest I think the mark from a kickout is a great idea! In fairness I notice that a lot of referees will give the advantage to the catcher when he comes down after a fine fetch and give a free if they get set upon by the opposition.

The forum has definitely had a turn for the worst. When the forum was smaller there was good debate and a lot of good banter with contributors... with more posters came more people offended by the banter and also those who took the banter a bit too far which has led to both extremes of people taking more offense and others taking their wind ups further.

There is probably a case to have an elite forum where only certain people have access to it but as someone said. WHo is going to vet potential applicants/stop WUMs etc. Even with that there are times when reputable members go over the top with their remarks so it would be extremely difficult to police!

As someone has mentioned the local club pages are where most have the decent debates but once it starts going on county teams there is too much crap that goes on!

Positives are that we upped the ante when we had to -- after the fight and after the Italian try. Secondly, EOS is, in this rugby world of video analysts, keeping his powder dry regarding set piece moves.

That's the thing I like about O'Sullivan... he's a cute hoor. He'll have a load of things up his sleeve that other teams will not be able to spot and you'll be sure to see them come the Argentina France games. That for me is the thing with EOS, there's always an air about him that he knows something that we don't about his team. For me it's a sign of a great manager a lá Mickey Harte or Alex Ferguson... The excitement's starting to build and I'm really looking forward to this championship and I'm quietly confident that we will do well.

GAA Discussion / Armagh’s Dyas Headed for Oz
August 28, 2007, 09:51:02 AM
From Irish News This Morning

By Paddy Heaney
ARMAGH'S rising star Kevin Dyas boarded a plane to Australia last night to begin a month-long trial with AFL club, Collingwood.

A representative from the
Melbourne club flew to Ireland last weekend to watch Dyas play for his club Dromintee against Crossmaglen Rangers in the Armagh
senior championship. Dyas was superb and the game ended in a draw.

Dyas will be met in Melbourne by Down's Martin Clarke who has proved to be a sensation since joining 'the Magpies'. Dyas and Clarke were opponents in last year's
MacRory Cup final. Clarke represented St Louis', Kilkeel while Dyas played for Abbey CBS.

The Dromintee lad spearheaded the Newry school to Hogan Cup glory when he scored 2-1 in the All-Ireland Colleges' final against St Pat's, Navan. Since leaving the Abbey,
Dyas began a course at the University of Ulster.

This year, he was on Jordanstown's Sigerson Cup panel, the Armagh U21 squad which won the Ulster title, and Joe Kernan's senior squad. Dyas also received an offer from
the Brisbane Lions, but Collingwood proved to be his first choice.

QuoteLance- The case against

Emma O'Reilly, formerly Armstrong's personal masseuse, makes the following points in LA Confidential the book David Walsh co-authored:

    * Armstrong told O'Reilly his hematocrit was 41, nine percent below the permitted maximum, and that he was "going to do what the others do" to enhance it.

    * In July 1999, Armstrong asked her for makeup to cover bruises on his arm from injections. The authors maintain that legal injections are generally injected in the buttocks.

    * In May 1998, Armstrong asked her to dispose of syringes after the Tour of the Netherlands.

    * In May 1999, she ferried 24 pills from Johan Bruyneel, the USPS team director, to Armstrong near his home in Nice.

    * She provides details of Armstrong's 1999 positive test for steroids, claiming Armstrong told her he had used a steroid around the time of the Route du Sud that he thought would have cleared his system before the Tour. O'Reilly says doctors backdated a prescription for a legal cream containing the steroid, and organizers allowed it, even though the cream wasn't listed on Armstrong's mandatory medical form.

QuoteAlso after the 2004 season, Armstrong's former mechanic—Mike Anderson, alleged that he'd found a box of steroids in the bathroom of Armstrong's Girona apartment.

This is all hearsay and opinion! Where are the facts? ANd if there are facts why haven't they been requested by investigative bodies or the governing body?

Quote
Doping is inseparable from bike racing. (If you're interested, check out The Crooked Path to Victory: Drugs and Cheating in Professional Bike Racing, by Les Woodland.) In 2004 alone, three current and former world champions were busted, one team was nearly disbanded, and several pro cyclists went public with detailed, harrowing stories of doping practices on their teams, including one who said he was given a substance designed for anemic dogs. What would people say about the GAA if O'Se, Fay, Bradley, Brogan etc tested positive in a single year? If a bunch of them died of heart attacks—as eight cyclists did in 2003-4?

I never said that cycling isn't rife with drugs... facts show that it quite clearly is. The only thing that gets me is the fact that people use Armstrong's success as a stick to beat him with and the fact that people assume oh well he's that good he must be cheating.

I can understand to a better degree people who reason it slightly by saying, well everyone else was on them and they still weren't able to beat him but the fact that there is no proof and that everyone goes on speculation and hearsay really p*sses me off!

I wouldn't blame any of the players at all for your defeat... you don't have the quality within the county to win the top prize. McConnell, Casey, Griffin (roasted the last 2 games!), Moran (not a HF), Cahill, Jayo (not anymore anyway) and Vaughan are not up to scratch and that is too many passengers for any team to carry when trying wo win an All Ireland, for all this talk about the management using wrong tactics etc. I personally don't think the Dubs could have played any better yesterday than they did.

Considering the players mentioned I reckon you could keep Casey, Moran (played at HB, possibly swap with Cullen) and possibly Griffin and still win an All Ireland, but the rest need to be replaced with real quality for you to push it over the line.

2 Songs I am loving at the minute are actually covers

1. Ryan Adams-Wonderwall (kicks the original's ass and even Noel Gallagher agrees!)

2. José Gonzalez - Hand on Your Heart (Didn't realise how good a song this was lyrically until I heard this version!)

QuoteSo, you're prepared to go up to Ray Silke (as you're encouraging those who criticised/name-called GG to do) and tell him he's a 'total flop as a pundit'; that he's 'cliched, predictable and uninteresting'. I respect your opinion, but I don't think it's advisable to do so for both parties.

I have a bit of experience with this and it is NOT a good idea!!!

GAA Discussion / Re: Anti Dubs feeling on the board
August 27, 2007, 03:01:23 PM
Sorry orangeman... I can't see any way that the Dubs would have won an AI in the past few years... they're close but they haven't got that bit extra required to push them over the line. Heck they nearly threw away their last All Ireland victory against Tyrone only for the fact that Tyrone were one of the poorest teams around in 1995 and had one outstanding player.

Yeah I think you're over reacting there hhnb. That statement was obviously from a WUM and not someone who wishes to engage in a serious debate about it. Actions of the few tarring the many. As you've quite rightly pointed out, you do enough stuff that can be proven for us to have a proper go so we will continue to do that until you stop doing it... or heaven forbid ye might win an AI and you;'ll just be able to laugh at us anyway!
