Imagine if Liverpool had had Allison for the past three seasons, fully fit all the time?

No Karius in Kiev.

No Adrian gifting a reeling Atletico a decisive goal out of nothing in extra time.

Could be going for three in row, COVID notwithstanding. Small margins! :)

Atletico won both games in fairness.

Liverpool were well on top and likely going to win the tie until Adrian's mistake.

Atletico would have had to come out, having spent the game camped in their own box, to get back in the game. Instead, Adrian took care of that within a few minutes, and they were then able to pick off a tired Liverpool on the break.
Virgil van Dijk: "We played fantastic for the first 95 minutes, but unfortunately things like this happen. We were not tired at all."

Maybe demoralized then. Because Liverpool didn't really threaten at all after the Adrian error and the second half of extra time was a non-event, with the only question being whether Atletico would score again to win on the night.

In fairness Athletico lost the second 90 minutes 1-0. They did well in extra time though after Adrian got them into the game. Liverpool were the better team by a long way but Athletico took  advantage of Liverpool mistakes in both legs to win the tie. Athletico won't be winning the champions league this year.

I agree.

My point was that the quality of Liverpool's goalkeeper was decisive.

Had Allison been playing, Liverpool were most likely winning that tie.

Adrian's error gifted them a way back at a point where they were reeling, having defended desperately all night (being kept in it by their own top-class goalkeeper) and having just gone behind on aggregate.

I'm not complaining, BTW; shit happens. Every team has to go without their top players at some point. It was just a comment on the small/fine margins discussion a few posts back.

Armamike

The gulf in class between Madrid's keeper and Adrian was huge.  Adrian had nothing to do in that game other than keep his head.
That's just, like your opinion man.

Small margins?
How about, had Huddersfield backed Shankley more, you might have ended up supporting Man U and Liverpool might have been passed out by Tranmere?

So - the League can be possibly won on the weekend of June 20th/21st at Goodison  ;D if Arsenal beat City on the 17th.

It's been nearly as hot in Ireland this week as it was in Madrid this day a year ago.

What a day.
