Tyrone / Re: Tyrone Club Football and Hurling

Mc Crory could very well be a good one  and some that know more than me could say that its tyrones loss that he didnt make it and Galballys gain.  I would say quarterback would be in that school of opinion.   I personally have never heard of him but a Dromore man told me not to rule Galbally out for a darkhorse style tilt at the O Neill cup. I havent seen Galabaly play in years.

Galballys Kieran Mc Crory was perfectely suited for the Number 3 jersy, superb in the air, strong and fast.  If only harte had given him as many chances as donnelly.

All in all we live in hope....

without Mc Crory do we even have that?

In a kickout scenario If a goalkeeper kicks the ball off his own post can he take the rebound and play on?

I would have placed Blaney as Brainey and talented, but Brain and brawn also played a major part in his game.
In terms of natural skills now that we have moved on from the Frank Mc guigan era and probably inclusive of this era, for his application and consistency of talent there can only be one winner, step forward in Armagh they have the bard of Armagh in Tyrone we have the bane of Armagh "Peter the great Canavan"

I genuinely believe that there are not 5 all Irelands in this Tyrone team, but there may be a third.  Like every 2 all Ireland winning team, they have nothing more to prove, nor owe anyone anything,  however the players that will win a third all Ireland for Tyrone will be the new men in or the new impact subs.  We need 1 maybe 2 new midifelders, we need cover at corner full and centre half back / We could unfortunately need 2/3 or a complete rebuilding of a half forward line that has been arguably our most important line over 2 all ireland wins.  Unfortuanely Im with Harte on this one.  Tyrone may need to put Cavanagh in wing half forward in order to keep this line strong particularly if Dooher / Mc guigan struggle to make the level and there is no guarantee that this will be the case.  We also need surprises from somehwhere (Mc Ginn) .  If we do what we done 2 years ago and are not quite as good at it we will not win a third all ireland,  other teams are at least at that level now.  We need to raise our own bar again.  Under Mickey Harte anything is possible, but I still have Tyrone at 4th favourites for 2007, behind, Kerry, Mayo Dublin and about level with Armagh.  I think we are in a worse situation than when we started out in 2005.  There are serious doubts but also serious hopes and sept next year will be time enough for them to be answered.

Will it get worse before it gets better.  Who knows?  Extra interesting facts about this game is that Canavans brother manages Balinderry.  Because of Errigals unwillingness to faclitate a date with Balinderry in the Ulster Club league Errigal are now banned form the competition after 'initially' being awarded the title in some circles, Theres bound to be a bit of bad blood there from an Errigal perspective.  Will the inners beat Cross because at this stage I think the Ulster club c'ship will come down to these 3 teams and  :'( possibly even Enniskillen.

Its a totally unique situation which was well documented at the time.
Th referee had stopped play to award a free kick to the attacking team.  The kick was take quickly to the now unmarked forward who scored.  There is no doubt that the Umpire was too far forward because a defender near clattred him trying to get back.  I think it was a horrendous error of judgement, but I also think it is an interesting case study and an amusing one on hindsight.  The attacker(forward) as  you may well have guessed was an old school teacher of your own.  The defender a man who would have liked to serve you beer.

What about a Olympic tounament

Official Line you are very welcome.  Lets see how you would deal with this interpretation?
1) Forward hits marker off the ball.
2) referee awards free kick to attacking team still unaware of incident.  Umpire raises flag and walks 2 yards onto field.  Opposition stops.
3) Unmarked Forward runs for quick free kick slots the goal past umpire and Goalkeeper (umpire still on field of play)
4) Referee consults with umpire sends goalscorer off, then allows goal and 14 man team wins by 3 points.
Were the rules correctly applied here or what should have happened differently, to protect a team that dosent strike?

Enniskillen are only playing the same ball game as other teams have been at this year.  In Tyrone to achieve success you are going to need a no 15 whos a barrister shortly.  Sportsmanship will disappear very shortly from our games.  On another factual incident:
1) Forward hits marker off the ball.
2) referee awards free kick to attacking team still unaware of incident.  Umpire raises flag and walks 2 yards onto field.  Opposition stops.
3) Unmarked Forward runs for quick free kick slots the goal past umpire and Goalkeeper (umpire still on field of play)
4) Referee consults with umpire sends goalscorer off, then allows goal and 14 man team wins by 3 points.
A club team was eliminated from the senior championship several years ago because of this scenario. Can any body remember this? How far would the board members go on this one?  I think Id be looking damages for defamation, incarceration and a replay.  Id throw the book.

I think Errigal have more important things to worry about this week ::)

EC unique.  I would like to think they do, and I would agree wholeheartedly that the appeals procedure is very much abused by some clubs Enniskillen, Carmen and yourselves included?  Its not nice being a totally innocent club sitting in the background as Errigal are, only finding out the night before whether you are playing / not playing a match just is the pits.  I just wish there was more goodwill / sportsmanship to let people finish their seasons / competitions, obviously the league and now the Ulster Club championship.   Beyond this I wish you luck and will be 100% behind Errigal and the rest of the Tyrone representatives,  I do however think you will have trouble with this Ballinderry side.   But the errigal defence above all else has impressed me this year.  Messrs Muldoon and Gilligan et all will have a tight nut to crack there, Im sure all of Tyrone would wish you the same (except maybe the Balinderry ones)

The Tyrone Herald needs a huge kick in the Arse - less Party nights as the weekend and go for mass Club gaelic coverage in a big way.  They can fill a huge gap in the market in Irelands second biggest county.  On another matter, I remember going to and knowing that  Tyrone were going to beat Donegal in the Ulster final replay 1989 - the reason, The Donegal Democrat had given Tyrone awful abuse in the lead up to the first game and the trash on individuals and the team was reproduced in the Tyrone Democrat.  Every Tyrone man the week before the replay would have ran through a wall for their county to beat Donegal, supporters and team galvanised and in unison. and we did with applomb.
