Quote from: snoopdog on May 10, 2024, 02:25:28 PMCity wouldn't have the fanbase UTD have so could give as many tickets away as thry like. Season ticket holders should get 1st preference.
A story you don't see published is the United team paid for all the tickets for the ladies teams families to go to Wembley this Sunday, that is 30 tickets a player. Yes its a drop in thr ocean for multi millionairres but they didn't have to do it.

Yet...

Kids follow winning teams, Utd haven't won anything of consequence in almost a decade and City have been winning Premier leagues hand over fist recently not to mention a CL title.

Quote from: trueblue1234 on May 08, 2024, 08:32:17 AMAs shown by this thread the big driver to the Tailteann Cup is that it's open for so many to get a run at it. Most of the counties in it could have a say if they get a bit of luck and a run going. We've had Wicklow, Laois, Antrim, Fermanagh, Down, Sligo, Kildare all tipped. If marketed right, this has potential. Makes a big difference from the AI run in!
Potential for a very competitive competition. But it won't be promoted. Will get 2 minutes on the Sunday game and we will only see it  at semi final stage. The GAA don't do promotion unless it's the Munster hurling championship. The 3 games for 30 euro is a good deal. But if your Down a trip to London should maybe be taken out and a 2 games at a tenner each offered.

yep only munster hurling is promoted, and they still whine about it.  Not been in it this year I must say I'm looking forward to this competition more than Dublin run to another all ire

Munster hurling is filling out stadiums right, left and centre, why wouldn't you promote it?

I think Donal Óg's gurning about Cork always being on GAAGO, behind a paywall but up to a few years ago none of this would be available to view anywhere at all.

Quote from: imtommygunn on May 10, 2024, 11:58:36 AMTeam named for tomorrow. Massive game for us which will be a good marker for where we are at. Lineup looks strong.

Best of luck tomorrow lads.

Really pains me to say it as a Down man but your a good few levels above us, so give the bolloxes a good hammering for the whole of Ulster.

It's a relegation trophy, a B c'ship, for teams who were put out early. They beat Antrim and Fermanagh to win it!

What's the Tailteann cup again?

Quote from: thewobbler on May 09, 2024, 10:03:32 PMI honestly would love a rule passed somehow somewhere that sellers cannot cross county lines.

Newry Shamrocks, Burren, Mayobridge etc are fundraising, and I'm happy to support it. But a club from e.g Derry? What in holy f**k are they doing taking GAA money out of Down?

If you arrive at my door the first thing I'll ask is "do you pay your senior manager?"
And if the answer is yes, then you can f**k right off

If you've money for that, then you've got your priorities all wrong.

Quote from: Look-Up! on May 10, 2024, 07:00:22 AMRatcliffe making a lot of noise for a minority stakeholder. Cut all the perks of the staff for FA cup final day just before a swanky lunch for the players' WAGs, all paid for by the club. Nice.

Staff are getting 1 ticket and have to pay £20 for the bus? They have 1,100 staff! as for the dinner, seems that's been a tradition going back to Busby.

I hope they beat Arsenal this weekend  ;D
Man City or any other club gets to a cup final, it's common to give a ticket plus one and pay for lunch and transport on what's a very special occasion. Mean act to take that away from regular staff. I think the problems and imbalance of power at OT will not be sorted out by taking Betsy from the canteen down a peg or two.
Bit of unnecessary chest pumping from the man with the new hat. Lets see how he gets on with the real job.

A tory is gonna tory..

Quote from: ONeill on May 09, 2024, 10:58:00 PMSpurs have a penalty in the last minute to draw with City. You're a Spurs man and taking the kick. What do you do?

Boot it into the net and pick up your scoring bonus, maybe kiss the badge in the process to please the crowd who you've no affinity with as you're from Brazil, Korea or wherever.

Quote from: ClubScene13 on May 09, 2024, 03:19:54 PMThey're a frustrating outfit are Cork. They'll probably give this a good rattle and ultimately lose by a couple - then beat Tipp when the pressure is off - leaving another 6 months of chatter of being not that far away.

The best of the U20 All Ireland winning teams need ushered in ASAP - it needs done even if it meant a dip for a year or two. The current players in that team that are 30+ have had more than enough chances. In fairness I think Ben Cunningham would have easily started this year but for injury. Other than Joyce and Connolly not many have made an impact.

They've never been that terrible over the years but clearly never close to winning the big prizes either. The appetite is still there from the public down there as seen by attendance expected on Saturday night. I think they are good for the game when they're motoring well.

Is he playing rugby?

Yes sadly.

He was one of the few U20's who seemed to thrive on physicality, a rare trait in Cork at the minute.

FFS, the commentators last night and now the English press going full bullshit mode on Tuchel for taking Kane off and that being the change in fortunes for Bayern...

Now I didn't see most of the game so maybe Kane was having a stormer, but the game turned on Neurer fumbling the ball, nothing more, nothing less.

He holds onto that ball, Bayern hold out and alls well with the British press.

Big game for Antrim this weekend, down in Parnell Park.

Get a win there and third is very much in reach, but Dublin have urgent demands as well as they need to secure the points now as they've still Galway and Kilkenny to contend with and points in those two games may be harder come by.

Galway getting beat by Wexford has opened this championship up a bit and Galway can't afford another slip up in Corrigan or against Dublin to secure the second spot, but Wexford have given themselves a decent shout at this and for some reason always do well against Kilkenny when their backs are against the wall.

It's a four horse race for the 2nd and 3rd spots in Leinster for me at this stage but all may become a bit clearer by Sunday evening.

Cork have a must win game against Limerick down in the SuperValu park. It's hard to see that happening, but Cork with all their weaknesses, most notably their defence have never really been beaten by a huge amount by anyone in recent years, so maybe they might get a big rub of the green on Saturday evening, hard to see anything other than a Limerick win and Pat Ryan out of a job the next day.

No love for them at all as a club, but some nights it just was never going to be.

Didn't score over both legs against the 5th best team in Germany this season. I don't think too many will be sad to see another soulless club fail to reach the Champions League final.  Before the Qatari takeover they played in the Champions league/European cup only a handful of times and it was mainly group stage or early round exits for them.

Think they only won the division once or twice before that

What odds are on Bayern Munich making it an all German final in Wembley by beating Madrid tonight?

I wouldn't put it past them, but Real are a tad better than PSG.

Quote from: Capt Pat on May 07, 2024, 11:30:27 PMDid anybody see the Spacey unmasked programme on channel 4 tonight? I didn't see it as my attention was taken up by the Champons League and Eurovision and Spacey unmasked on all at the same time.

I just caught the end of it on channel 4 + 1. While Spacey was cleared of a lot of the charges against him. He did end up having to fork out 30 million dollars to the makers of house of cards.

I watch a good part of the first episode and he is certainly portrayed as a predatory sex pest who used the potential of a breakthrough in Holywood to ensnare young male actors, no different to Weinstein in lots of ways.

Cracking one off in a cinema to the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan is just weird on so many levels all the same.

Quote from: NorthAntrim on May 07, 2024, 04:09:52 PMIf we can press in the forward line like Wexford did, force the galway defence into mistakes, theres no reason why we cant give them a game too.

Obviously Dublin first, cant wait to see if we've a bit about us or did we catch wexford on a very off day

Dublin are a bit wishy, washy too, so Antrim shouldn't be going into the game fearing them one jot.

Is anything ever not 'mad' in that fellas head, brief respite from illegal I suppose

Maybe one day he'll say madly illegal and his head will explode

Ironic of course the same fella swerved a drug test, both illegal and mad

Man city are getting the all clear by all accounts. The FA are just stalling as to how they can back track out of the whole mess without pissing off loads of fans

They won't get the all clear, but they look to be changing the punishments so that it's no longer a points deduction, but a "super tax" or fines based approach which will suit the likes of City down to the ground.

Time to target the clubs with huge debts leveraged against stadiums and "future" earnings.
