Jose Mourinho is not just fighting to prove he is the man who can deliver the Premier League title at Manchester United. He is in the midst of a fight to preserve his position as a top level, Champions League competing manager.

PSG possibly the only big gig left open to him.
That's just, like your opinion man.

He also spent 20 mil on Delot a defender this summer.

To be fair I think he is injured.

He may be but that has no bearing on the fact that in monetary terms he has been seriously backed by the club and he accepts no responsibility when it goes wrong.

What was the deal with playing Herrera in a back 3? Trying to prove a point or actual tactics involved?

5 very winnable games coming up so pressure will most likely have lifted by the next time they play a top 6 side.

Brighton was a very "winnable" game too.

And games become less winnable when you make as many individual errors and defend as poorly as Man United are currently doing.

This article from last Sunday sums up Mourinho, he is past it.

Both van Gaal and JM won the CL but operating at the top level with new ideas in a continually evolving sport is almost impossible.

He has been relatively well backed by the club monetarily until the Summer just gone when the glaring deficiencies in the squad weren't addressed and he wasn't backed at all  Relatively well in that although he's spent an eye watering sum of £380m or whatever the neighbors across the city who had already much superior squad have spent 150/200m more in the same timeframe.

People say well he bought them why doesn't he coach them? Well he managed to coach them to finish above 18 other teams last season despite the fact that most/all of them are considered not good enough by most onlookers. I think on the Liverpool thread last year there a feeling that there was very few players that ye would be interested in, 3 or 4 at most? The football may have been 'agricultural' but maybe that was a realization that opening up would allow them to be picked apart

When United gave him a new contract last spring they had to back him with the players he wanted in the summer. The notion that Woodward or whoever is advising him knows more about players than the manager, any manager, is laughable..

Thats the line I would disagree with Boycey. For anyone to argue that Pogba/Matic/Sanchez and to a lesser extent Bailly/Rashford/Martial/Mata et all "arent good enough" is giving Jose a free pass. Even Lindehof and Fred were excellent for their previous clubs so there is clearly something not right with his  methods. And if they are not good enough then why were they bought?

Klopp to an extent went through the same thing in that there were glaring deficiencies at CH and GK which  went unaddressed for a period and Liverpool suffered. However he held out for the right players in his mind (albeit at eye watering figures) and hopefully Liverpool are seeing the benefit now.  Mourhino has a point when he says that Klopp/Poch are lauded by the media while finishing below him but both Spurs and Liverpool played attractive football for all their deficiencies and  the fans backed Klopp to the hilt during that time. This might be due to lower expectations but Mourinho is his own worst enemy with his petulant spoilt brat antics. He was used to being the biggest dog in the yard for years and refuses to accept that any responsibility lies with him for poor performances.

Great result for Fulham away to the mighty Brighton today. How much did they spend on defenders in the offseason....must have been hundreds of millions.

Ah Seanie that's the argument of a 12 year old...

Just caught up with yesterday's match there now, decent enough performance from what I saw.
