Quote from: square_ball on November 14, 2023, 01:27:05 PMAaron Ramsdale's dad is making some tit of himself. Whinging again about his son being dropped. He'd be as well keeping his mouth shut as there isn't going to be a queue of clubs looking to sign him if the dad goes to the media every time his son gets dropped.

Mental stuff, the type of thing you'd hear at an u12 game when some young buck doesn't make the team.

Arteta will surely be waving bye to him, don't need that dung.

Yeh he'll be gone in January, Ramsdale himself was doing an interview with Ian Wright and said to Wrighty he can't concentrate for full 90 so switches off for few minutes to give some stick to fans to get his concentration back.. Disasterclass from him and his entourage

Quote from: thebar on February 16, 2022, 02:00:25 PMWith Kilcoo now All Ireland Champions the question is can anyone realistically expect to beat these men or are we set for another decade of dominance from Kilcoo? Personally can't see any team stopping them in Down for the foreseeable and not sure if this is a good or bad thing. It has to be said they have taken the whole approach to club football up to a serious level and I'm not sure many teams have the appetite to compete with it.

They definitely can be beat they've a glaring weakness in defence that if management teams planned properly could expose with good free-takers and the exploitation of the Mark Rule. The full back line doesn't have the legs and sit quite narrow so using the mark to get the ball out wide would allow teams to tip over points providing they've reliable scorers from the dead ball

I remembered today I messaged on here about using the mark to exploit Kilcoo and replies weren't to favourable - just thought I'd give this a bump after Scotstowns score to level

Quote from: imtommygunn on November 12, 2023, 08:08:54 PMI'm surprised the mark is not used like this a lot more- especially with boys who can kick from range.

It's not used more often like this as most teams don't have boys who can kick from range.

Long range? You only have to kick it 20 meters I think, if you can't kick a ball 20 meters you're fuvked

Think he means have a shot on goal not doing a 20m pass

Well done the Monaghan men.

Can confirm I was too.. Hughes clutched up for Scotstown at the end there. Fantastic mark to level it and then to win the kick out

Quote from: thewobbler on November 09, 2023, 10:32:18 AMThings Down needs:

A centre of development.
An Ulster minor title.
A competitive SFC.
Two giant midfielders to appear from somewhere.

Things Down doesn't need and will never need but for some reason now have:

A blue away kit.

Was wondering were this was going but I agree not a fan of that jersey. Bring back the yellow alternative

Not financial advise, only risk what you can afford to lose etc.

Not financial advice 😂😂 You been watching the crypto influencers too Trailer? Lol

Bought my gaming/AI coins a few months ago.. most of them have doubled already. Biggest regret is not buying NAKA at the start of the year, it's up 400% since April

Saka comment about watching Rooney is unbelievably stupid.. He's been run into the ground by Arteta and Southgate, he's been taken off injured 3 out last 5 games because of an ongoing Achilles problem.

Needs rested/rehab and Nelson/Havertz need put Right Wing for a string of games and play well to get him that rest.

As for Arteta, I like him but find him very stubborn - Refuses to admit Reya, Havertz aren't working and that Zinchenko is a liability. Tierney, Emile Smith Rowe and Ramsdale are better than those players he brought into replace them

Quote from: ONeill on November 04, 2023, 12:32:46 PMI contacted them about that and they said my only option would be to downgrade my membership to Red. Took me too long to get here to do that.

I've a red membership if you want to enter the ballot with it boss? Just pm me can give you my deets.. You and your young fella could enter with it for rest of the season / next season if you'd like.

I'll not be getting over to any games this side of 2025, between football and paying for my wedding funds and time available 😅

It won't happen but if you're wanting to make more meaningful fixtures in SFC probably best way to do that is to reduce the amount of teams in it.

Similarly, Ballykinlar, a team who reached Down SFC finals in the 60's and won a few JFC titles in the 90's are now folded too. Again, the club of Paddy 'Mo' Doherty as well.

How? Are there a lot of clubs in Newry? How does a club in such a big town fold?

The thing is with Mitchels is why would you go and play for them when you have Newry Shamrocks less than 500m up the road. The location isn't great either as its down the end of an industrial estate so it doesn't have any local residents that would be drawn into it because its their nearest club

They lost that pitch a few years ago, council sold it to turn it into a new road.. Based out in Derryleckagh playing fields since then, had boys playing into their 40s trying to keep it going but unfortunately no youth teams in place so couldn't replace them

Soccer, beer, cocaine. GAA wouldn't be big in the city anyway. Newry Shamrocks have good enough numbers I think but wouldn't be anywhere near the top teams in Down.

There used to be a Newry Bosco club I believe, are they still on the go?

Yep Bosco still on the go - Won Division 4 this year so back into Div 3. Play intermediate in championship
