It was a real team performance and a deserved win. It's no mean feat beating Moorefield in their own back yard and I thought Portlaoise coped with all challenges put in front of them. I thought the young Finn lad was man of the match by a mile, as he had Hurley Lynch in his pocket. Cahir struggled with O Connor and it's going to be tough for him going week after week. O Connor instigated that mini row after their goal and sneakily took a dive when challenged by Healy. Classy players like him don't need to resort to that sort of stuff and I'm delighted he's licking his wounds tonight.

Work rate and togetherness were a big factor in today's performance. Of course Kilmacud in Parnell Parkwon't be easy, but Portlaoise need to take encouragement from today and build on it. Was Saunders dropped or is he injured?

It's time for our CB to stand up for the county; the players in particular. The GAA have fucked us about in the last few years and clearly don't give a fiddlers about us. They are a seriously deluded bunch who have no regard for the effort being made in Laois or elsewhere. They need to be told to f**k off and stop putting barriers in our way. It's hard enough getting lads to play and supporters to pay in an era when quite frankly, there is little to entice counties like Laois. A real sickener.

Load of shite in fairness. That a central body can tell you when it's ok to train. Load of shite. That they can place a ban on some counties when everyone is at it. Load of shite. That they somehow differentiate between training as a group and training as an individual. Another load of shite. The GAA heads live in a fantasy world. The modern GAA player can't afford to take time off properly if he wants to retain a certain level of fitness. They want the GAA and its players to be the best that they can be and pride themselves on the fact that this is voluntary and for the love of the sport. Then they go placing bans on lads who want to make themselves more competitive. I'd give the opposing team a walkover and throw the whole thing into chaos. Pure and utter shite

I don't think these articles are helping at all. The CB were compromised by the referee and the video evidence. At that point, they were snookered and they should have known it. They erred by imposing the ban and giving Camross more fuel. Instead, they should have paid Ross Kings bills and communicate with him only. He is the only victim in this incident and raking up Camross' past serves only to isolate them as a club. That is in nobody's interest. The aggressor will get his come uppance when he's on his knees looking at a classy forward after skinning him. The scoreboard hurts far more than any belt you can get.

Culchy, your player has been exonerated. I don't see any point in stirring the pot. The situation was bad and the CB made it worse. It's not even a loophole if the decision of the referee can't conclusively be overturned. The CB obviously feel that the referee made the incorrect decision at the time and decided to dish out their own sanction. At best, the referee should never officiate at this level again. At worst, the CB don't understand the procedures. A bit of clarification would be welcome

The CB imposed the ban did they not? They must have had conclusive video evidence to do so if the referee didn't see it on the day. And if they had such evidence, and the referee didn't see it, then any ban imposed would have stood. Obviously there is no video evidence, and as such, any decision made by the referee is all that counts.

The CB are making too many mistakes in my opinion. Their handling of transfers seems to be very different depending on the clubs involved. They tried to block Daly but granted the Kingstons a transfer no bother. Same circumstances but different approaches.

Then you had the bans lifted four years in a row but not Bruno's. I have to say there's more than a bit of a whiff off some of their decision making.

On what basis did they impose the two game ban? That's the crux of the matter

Can you impose a suspension if a player has not been sent off for an incident? Did he get a yellow on the day?

And to think, Bruno couldn't get his ban overturned for a bit of handbags stuff. I would urge the CB to think long and hard about what they are doing.

They did but they also got detached and opened up at times too. It was an odd game really. There is no doubt Portlaoise have problems at midfield. It is rare for them to claim possession from kick outs. They were also at sixes and sevens facing runners. Meredith and Kehoe punctured holes a number of times. But O'Dempseys were naive close to goal and, particularly up front, despite Portlaoise under performing, they didn't win enough personal battles. They had the best player on the pitch in Meredith, but nothing to accompany him. I thought Boyle was Portlaoise's main man. He put them on the front foot so many times and always used the ball well.

I don't know what the situation is with the hurling, but to my eye, Healy and McEvoy looked tired today. If the hurlers have to play in Leinster one week, and the footballers the next, I can't see that as being a good thing for dual players. Healy in particular was nowhere near his best today

It did, but if the deal had been done successfully, it would have benefitted the club financially. As things stand, they are in hock to the bank. They can't afford to kit out and run any more teams than they do, and if they had a highly functioning second team for instance, they couldn't afford to even pay a manager's expenses. So for the moment, I don't see any point making promises to youngsters that they can't honour. There is a problem in Portlaoise for sure, but I'm not sure if Portlaoise GAA are in a position to fix it

I've pointed to a number of issues previously that concern me about Portlaoise. In my opinion, money would solve a lot of them. Their own Development Officer maybe too. They can't afford to implement the improvements we need from them.

I'm not from Portlaoise but the attitude towards them sometimes grates me. I'm not aware of any young lad being turned away from the gates of Rathleague. As for the hurling, the opportunity is there I'm sure to hurl, but they've gone through a lean time recently. They're dominating at Senior in the football and getting dog's abuse for the numbers at their disposal, so where is the balance and how do you strike it? The move to Rathleague was a financially sound one until the deal broke down. It was too late then but they weren't the only ones to get burned. A lot of their problems stem from the fact that they can't cater financially for all the lads who come through their gate. I'm not exactly sure how guilty they are in that regard.

As for the Bruno decision, it looks mealy mouthed in comparison to all those who had their decision reversed. The CB were never going to do Portlaoise a favour in a county final, yet they somehow saw fit to let the other lads off. It's the latter and not the former that makes you wonder

I think we know it would. I'd be shocked if PK said otherwise. Portlaoise can't maximise what they have, because whilst they are numerically rich, financially they are poor. Their Intermediates are run like a Junior B team, which is just shocking. And the attitude from within seems to reflect that. So whilst a lot of us would be expecting Portlaoise to be capable of having a good second team, the reality is that it never looks like happening. You could sit down and draw up a list of lads who have just fallen by the wayside in Portlaoise. Good footballers. Certainly good enough that if they were in a rural club they'd be under pressure to perform. There is no pressure on them in Portlaoise, unless they create their own.

Portlaoise seem happy enough with the situation. They know that at the heart of the club, it is a core of people keeping the thing going. They know that they are financially constrained and that this puts limitations on them. I think some of us look at Portlaoise as being this huge club with infinite resources, I think the realty doesm't bear that out at all

This is a one off concept designed to give lads an opportunity to showcase their talents alongside players of similar ability. The ultimate goal is to try and pick up a couple of players who could be of use to Laois. I would say it's incredibly unlikely to take the place of the club championship in the future. Clubs themselves tend to be very reluctant to even reduce the Senior Championship to 12 teams, so abandoning it altogether is not going to happen. It's a great idea in my opinion. You would like to think that lads will buy into it and give it a go. I always subscribe to the notion that a better standard of game can sometimes unearth talent that hadn't been obvious before
