Ripley (the talented Mr variety, not Aliens)  on Netflix is excellent, very measured and classy. Onto the last of 8 episodes. Andrew Scott has got a great death stare.

Quote from: nrico2006 on April 10, 2024, 06:47:22 PMDune 2 wasn't anything special, especially given the length.
Yes, that was my take on it as well. Thought Pt1 was slow paced, Pt 2 exactly the same. Pt 3 is in the pipeline. Should have made it an epic 10 pt series and saved us the wait.

If you read my post above there was a 2nd trial the Wednesday after the Hogan, presumably that was the day the Omagh players were invited, dunno if they attended. Up to the school to send 4 of their choosing.

Edit. To clarify: 2x trial days of 60 students per day, then there was a callback stage.

Prof Peter Higgs (of Boson fame), read his Obituary in the Times paper today, a great read it was too.

Here's one from the Guardian that I haven't read tbh.

Some obituaries are fantastic reads. It's a journalistic art form.

To me Tyrone look like a team with no thought out plans/structure, talent alone gets them through some games, that's why they blow so hot & cold imo. Could take Derry on a hot day and get embarrassed on a bad day whereas Donegal & Armagh will keep it tight v Derry through defensive structures. I'm fed up with Armagh's style of play tho, so I'm not advocating it.

There were 2 x trials days with 60 students from Colleges at A,B & C grades at it, think 4 per school are invited. The 2nd trial took place the Wed after the Hogan. Tony Scullion in charge.

Quote from: full moon on April 09, 2024, 03:39:13 PMI think Armagh will win it out, particularly with the draw. They also have more on the line here. I would be questioning if Derry go full tilt at this, meanwhile the Dubs and Kerry stroll to the All Ireland semi finals.
Ah Jesus don't start the Derry ones off again

Going forward
KPIs as well. Obviously a useful thing in itself but I think it's used in situations now where there are f**k all KPIs being measured.

Halo, considering the gaming origins, is pretty good Sci Fi. Well above average offering imo.

Great article/ piece with Jim Mcguinness in today's Irish News, a full throated defence of USFC & the provincial series. He made the point, that has been made here before, that counties trying to compete v Dublin and Kerry need financial support and development plans to make them competitive  again - as a better alternative to just scrapping them.

Good 60min interview on Sky Sports, Chris Sutton interviewing the King - Henrik Larsson 20 years on.

2nd & 3rd Rangers goals from 2 celtic mistakes, a McGregor miss pass and Yang standing off b4 the shot (tho think he might have got his feet caught under him).

Trying to watch ParisRoubaix here as well but christ Rangers look absolutely awful - Celtic obviously doing our bit tho. Can't be as bad in 2nd.
