Post by: Eire90 on November 28, 2019, 11:00:14 PM
was just wondering is there any club teams that would go far in the all ireland series if they were up against inter county teams say  a club team took the place of their county team example would dr crokes go far if thet played as kerry

Also would the best club teams in ireland easily beat the worse inter county teams

id say there hurling clubs in kilkenny that would easily beat  most ulster inter country hurling teams

So they'd beat Carlow Laois and Westmeath? As there's a puck of a ball between Antrim and those teams mentioned

Yeh,

Not sure that stacks up when you see the best Ulster club Hurling teams can also hold their own against many of the southern teams.

Crossmaglen,  in their heyday,  would surely have given a few counties their full of it

They'd have bate Armagh most years. Corofin today would beat a fair few I'd imagine.

Carlow had a promising team in the mid 90s made up almost entirely of the Eire Og panel who had won 3 or 4 Leinsters and almost won a club All Ireland. They were hotly tipped to beat a young Meath team in the first round in 1996 but got hammered by the guts of 20 points. After the game Colm O'Rourke wisely said that a club team will never beat a county team.

(Meath ended up winning the All Ireland that year.)

Might happen in hurling with Meagher/Rackard teams.
Possibly only Kilkenny might be beaten by a club team in football.

I'd fancy a couple of the top football club teams against the Division 4 sides.

Well clearly not Antrim ones, as the whole county has trouble against Div 4 sides.
