Quote from: angermanagement on March 26, 2024, 09:47:02 PMReceived my car insurance renewal yesterday. Was £670 last year, no accidents or claims, 6 years no claim bonus and the feckers are looking £3760.

Is that a like for like quote?

If so, crazy stuff.

Exact same quote. No mistake. English crowd, excuse was they could only get one company to quote for the six counties. To be fair to the fella I spoke to who, he just said wow when he seen the quote and said i'll cancel your insurance with us next month.

Antrim probably had one of their biggest league football crowds in years against Down on Sunday and Corrigan still wasn't full. There's no way the new stadium will be opened up if it's not making money. Antrim GAA will get token county finals and that will be it's lot, Casement will prove no benefit to the future of Antrim GAA.

Was in Warrenpoint during the week. The smell of the place would've turned you whatever it was. Flys everywhere as well.

I can see both sides of the argument to an extent but coming from a coaches perspective kids need competition. Some of the best days my kids have been at tournaments in different counties, provinces. It built up a great comradery among the boys, boys from different schools gelled at these tournaments and friendships were made. Never won a tournament the boys couldn't tell you who won it but will remember the craic they had together.

When it comes to equal game time in principle I agree, but you've children showing up for go games who rarely train, you can tell they never practice at home but expect to play the same amount as some kids who never misses a session and you know is down the pitch practicing flat out and expect to get asked to play at the tournaments.

Is that fair on the kid who trains and practices?

Balmoral and Finaghy train stations are about a 20 minute walk to Casement. Plenty of routes in and out of Casement if you avoid the motorway.

On the Tyrone club section they said it was a Croke Park only gave permission for the counties to change at the weekend. Can't blame the county board for that.

Thought it was poor enough standard as well. Both teams cancelled each other out.

Actually don't think there were that many students at the match supporting either team. Was mostly family members or ex students.

He's a journey man. Now at Villa. He's ordinary enough.

Mc Allister the same. His next game is Charlton away. It's rare enough that players get a huge move on the back of a good tournament. All the big teams have huge scouting networks. They have huge amounts of data on players. So jumping in to buy someone on the back of a few games against Saudi Arabia, Poland, Australia and Mexico isn't usually a smart idea. If he does get a move he will already have been a target and the World Cup performances won't have changed that.

There has been some notable duds bought on the back of a World cup performances, I'll let others name them but how a player plays for his country over how he plays for a club team is different, some players are really patriotic others not so much so they take it to a different level, they are also playing in a different formation with a different role to play that can't always be matched at club level..

El hadj diouf to Liverpool after 2002 WC was the worst
No one had even heard of him

Diouf was the African player of the year twice -2001 and 2002. He also had a reasonably productive season at Lens the previous two years. It did not work out for him here but he was far from a one tournament wonder.
