They're even lining out the pitch now

Was just going to say that.. I was chatting to someone the other day and he got his to line out the new markings, I was wondering how the hell does it do that

Works of GPS. It'll have a fixed GPS base station which the robot gets its positioning from. Be accurate to a few centimeters. It'll have its boundaries set up at the start based on GPS position and after that it just goes up and down - all day every day.

The one at the local club has a base thing on the top of the scoreboard and they just run off it. Think one of the members has an app on a phone or something to tell it what to do etc.

That said, I was at a match and one of them broke out during it.

Fully onboard with the robotic mower concept.

But robotic lining? Sounds to me like solving a problem by creating another set. Keeping it in paint has got to be a bit of work. When it runs out of juice halfway through, you need a backdoor plan. When some little bugger kicks it over, it's got to be messy. Should it malfunction, it could get very messy. Should the groundsman's child start playing with the "line drawing" app on his phone, well that's going to me messy too.

It'll be great 90% of the time, but if it's something you might need to supervise when in use, you might as well push the old field lining tool.

Wonder can you get one to burn the lines into the pitch like you see in some of the older pitches around the country
